Having girl refs was not the best idea imho. Why not just have them dance and throw t-shirts? I don't get what's the need.

Because the reason for having done so. It wasn't done to improve the quality of reffing. It was done to appease the "inclusivity". So it had a negative impact on the former while having a positive impact on the latter. And I think one is tremendously important while the other is marginally so
What is the negative impact? Did they lower the standards? Do the women score lower when evaluating?

Holy shit, how good did we have it 30 years ago?
Some teams take more than one seasson to acclimate to each other and their coach.
We can only guess why its taking longer than fans hope for KAT to play this way.
Seeing Kat (as clyde said last night) using his feet more on defense is really helping. He is less frustrated and perhaps more focused.
The passing? The cuts? The not forcing body bully moves to the rim that frustrate him, the refs, and beat his body up.
The Pick and Roll's with Jalen are now working? If teams execute the defense better against it there other options than Jalen or Kat Iso's.
In the interim, has Mikal's game suffered some for the greater good? The defense is there, the shots are not. His midrange game is still solid.
OG? Seems to have propsered in Browns regime. His handle is tighter as he can create space better now.
Now a few seasons of not just making playoffs but having top 4 seeding makes for expectations and thus disappointment. This while not having a lottery pick since RJ Barrett, nor any starphuch signings. Thibs mostly overachieved with these rosters and we loved it. Two free agent signings in DDV and Randle gave us value/enjoyment while here, but eventually gave us KAT who like iHart took a season and a half to be the finished product we hoped he could be. We hope. This despite he was all NBA last season! POst allstar break our KAT is rounding out into a better defender and more effiecient scorer! Right behind him is the best version of Mitch we have ever seen! This in part because of his health this season, reduced minutes, and perhaps a contract year?
Kudo's to Thibs on the evolution of both these players and to Brown who built off of that. The mid seaon losing streak in my mind was necessary for them to conform to their collective best self. Having read many books by coaches its very typical for teams to "revolt" against the system as they feel they are successful. They are individually. Players have own agenda's/Careers to tend to. Think about it, the starters on teams not only have reached the top 1% in the world to be in the NBA, but also have multi year security contracts! Ego is earned but then to put it all together for an ensomble result not is another thing. Despite the friendships and connections its still not easy. They started out very well based on superior talent but stagnated leading the 2-9 stretch. This gave Brown the basis for the players to be receptive for the next level of growth or "evolving".
Did it take too long? Is the expectation that we "should be much better" realistic? On paper we should have been a 60 win team. Detroit was a suprise and Boston was not suppose to be this good. Without the 2-9 we get darn close. But perhaps teams have to go thru that process to find its true identity and build on it WITH CONVICTION!
I don't know what summer brings and Giannis looms with starphuch dreams. Personally Im rooting for KAT and this group in the here and now. Mitch's free agency, Mikal, and perhaps KAT-Giannis trade makes sense if we falter early. Sometimes the other team is simply better and if so thats a whole other converstation waiting for June and beyond.
Next week the real season starts.
Even generic announcer guy has grown on me.
