Knicks · The official NYKMentality thread: (page 1)
Dude, your enthusiasm is noted and appreciated. The effort to look up stats commendable. You go above and beyond.
I'd say your fandom is more than fanatical, its a Jahad.
If you can tone it down some and not be combative you might actually enjoy other views. Don't have to agree with it all.
If you can't you'll go where many have gone before. Into Martins dog house of despair!
We are all out there fans to be doing this at this level and for many of us many years than we care to remember.
Its a bit intense now because many have us don't know how to handle a knick success. We like the AV squad in school and all at the lunch table together.
We just got laid for the first time and super excited. Now we have our eyes set on the head cheerleader! Might be out of reach, but we going for her! LOL..........
I had to stop reading your pregame stuff and statistical justifications. Its not about being right or wrong, its about the games.
Nobody is saying to stop, and I like it you don't flame out as have many over the years when it gets personal, just save your strength time and energy.
The playoffs are coming!!!
Think of this as a well intended intervention.........
I'm just going to enjoy my Knicks basketball on #KnicksTwitter (something I just discovered and having crazy fun with) and after this post/response I'm now taking myself a 4 game West Coast break from UltimateKnicks before I get myself banned from here due to A.) Posters who only post after loses and B.) 2-3 people who've waited damn near 1 month for 1 single loss in order to begin "jumping down my throat".
I know what's going on around here (and I'll see you guys next Wednesday on the 14th).

No, you don't get to lie even if you're taking a time out.
I first started exchanging posts with you about the 3rd seed on 2/23. Every post you and I went back and forth on was DURING the win streak and before what appeared to be a good opportunity for a 10th win.
Have some pride, man.

Don Martin,
I promise never to mention you know who at PG ever again if you do this little favor for me....

NYKMentality is a good fan. "He really seems to care. About what? I have no idea"
well its obvious that he cares passionately about being the voice of anyone who doesnt want their throat jumped down after a loss, or anyone who struggles to understand that the only thing you need to follow in Kobe's footsteps is to be that age.... at some point. Also green check boxes. He cares about those as well. So after some review and perspective he's actually pretty well rounded
If he cannot, and that's seems to be his response then "time away from us", maybe for reflection? Lets see how he comes back.
I believe he takes this all way to personal when others don't agree with his opinions.
Creating this thread just for him is another example. This site is too good to turn into a personal Knicks fans vs knick fans attack. For what? It gets old quick and it’s exhausting to the individual. Then it takes months for other posters to chime into a personal attack topic. It’s like is that all posters do? So personally I’m glad he found a twitter site that doesn’t judge him and allows him to be him. Good for you NYK.
Don’t let these pessimistic fans get to you. And you don’t have to apologize for being an excited fan hoping for the best.

I'm somewhat familiar with Knicks twitter.
Let's just say it may take some more time.
He may be 4 games away from being 4 games away ... so to speak.

Not for nothing, but the above is a bit of a whitewashing. I'm in no way a pessimistic fan and very often push back against the pessimism as well. What my (most recent) experience is is that I simply said expecting the Knicks to overtake the Cavs AND Sixers for 3rd place was (mathematically) improbable, and everything you describe above came freely from his end.
Which is fine. I'm not looking for any help. I can rub some people the wrong way too (and I'm aware of that fact). I'm also not advocating for a ban or anything. But I think you paint him as more of an unwitting victim that warranted.

Sorry if you felt this was directed at you, because it wasn't. But I understand your point of view. I was really talking from a personal perspective, and the interactions I've saw with NYK (including myself). I feel like I'm optimistic as well, and NYK got on me, which is fine. I'm not trying to point fingers at anybody, that wasn't my intention. Just providing feedback to those powers at be, what I've witness since joining 20yrs ago up until now. I feel like constructive feedback is always helpful and NYK has verbally expressed his displeasure, and I understand.
But at the end of the day, it's an open forum and rules are very loose. Shouldn't take anything in an open forum too personal. Something I'm learning to do as we speak.

This is what happens when you dont pay attention blkexec. The kid spends just as much time questioning posters fandom, as he does talking hoops, or stats really.
Poster spends a lot of time in this board, calling out posters for not being good enough fans. More than a few posters here who were going to games decades before said poster was born. Poster gets what they deserve.
"Don't start none, won't be none."

No sorry necessary (per 'shouldn't take anything in an open forum too personal'), and this wasn't an 'it wasn't me' post. This is more of a 'a LOT of it is him' post.
We throw around the words optimistic and pessimistic somewhat superficially. Yes, the gentlemen in question is (IMO) irrationally optimistic about the Knicks, but as we speak he's serially fixated on calling out any Knicks fans who were or are not 'optimistic' (up to his standards) about anything or anyone in relation to the 2022-23 Knicks.
He's turned the success of the knicks into a one-man war of comeuppance. That's not enthusiastic or optimistic, although I suspect he doesn't see it that way.
Anyways, conventional wisdom suggests the 9 game win streak would have resulted in a sunny outlook, but it had the reverse effect. It emboldened him to seek king of the hill status and to direct animus toward anyone who didn't share his view.
That isn't optimism.
And I'll leave it at that...
For now ;-)

+1
just saying he has had similar issues on a Jets forum i participate in
it's one thing to be a super-fan; some people (e.g., me) think it is a bit juvenile, but that's not the issue.
the reason he got banned was he would drown everyone out with excessively long, repetitive posts that could border on unhinged, in response to anything less than 100% unquestioning faith to the team.
He might do very well in a place like North Korea

Put Joseph Goebbels in a locked room, with an MSG feed, and a pound of Meth. That's what you would get.
