Think that is a good idea if he pisses you off.
The extremes on most fan forums are just funny to me. Don't see why they bother some.
You take away NYKMentality's over positiveness and muscle twitch responses and the overly negative takes of several troll like posters and what are you left with?Been on other forums and there dose not seem to be the amount of sensitivity. Plenty of shit talking. Some choose to ignore or engage. Eventually those guys fade away due to so many ignoring them. That's what a forum is. Feel there is still plenty of good basketball talk despite those extremes. Only guys that should be banned are vulgar one subject regurgitators. Imho
Im ignoring anyone who regularly turns hoops discussions (repetitive and otherwise) into personal attacks or call outs of the fan base, ad nauseum. Thats what usually will get a poster at least checked.
Im here for hoops, not Drama over Fandom and "Hating". Those professional athletes will be just fine.
I agree.
But just like there’s a transmitter and a receiver, there’s also a processor. We all need to update our processor (PQ/Sage brain vs Survival/Sabator brain) to convert data I where the output is from your PQ/ sage perspective.
Can you tell I’m currently finishing up a coaching class and loving it. The brain is a powerful tool. Makes you look at yourself and others with a a different set of lens.
I’m realizing fans / people need a verbal outlet (text/verbal). UK gives you that out. Even if nobody is reading or responding to anything you say. You get the privilege to release that verbal content off your brain and into the atmosphere. If you just focus on that aspect, you start to enter PQ exercises.

Good stuff. I'm glad for you. You seem like someone with a really positive attitude. Let that rub off on some kids.
My eldest son has been extremely dedicated to basketball the past 5 years but his JV coach kind of ruined it for him this season. I only hear my son's size but it seems like there was a lot of pettiness and lack of communication. He had really really respected the coach before but because he spent Christmas visiting family in other state, he was benched for January.
This isnt an anonymous forum. Most people here are regular posters. We are at least passingly familiar with what other people have written before. I know Nalod responds to every Phil C post, blkexec overreacts to whatever streak the team is on, Cemetery thinks Rose will come in and save the day, Gustav doesn't like Julius for personal reasons, the list goes on. Just because someone brings up something you have aid before doesn't make it a personal attack. I like to think that even people who I disagree with, like ESOM on the Ukraine, would be people I'd be excited to meet and share a beer or a line with strippers in Martin's case. Don't take it personally.
As far as I can tell this is the first thread that's ever been set up to complain about a single poster. I don't like it. NYK mentality says all the things I secretly hope happen- like not losing another game and RJ becoming the real Maple Mamba, but am too cynical to say out loud. I don't think it needs to be all sunshine and rainbows, but it seems hypocritical to complain about personal attacks in a thread that seems more or less a criticism of nyk mentality than of something he said.

Gradyandrew...As I said ignoring posters who bring Drama.
Most of my posts about Randle since 2020 have been very postive. Unless you want to just cherry pick the ones that arent. All started when I said that Randle wasnt clutch. Thats when things got real personal around here.
Same posters who didnt see the change in Randle I pointed out very early in 2020, are now saying its personal with this professional athlete. Im not the one forgetting this, its those of you that still bring up this lame shit. Randle is a professional athlete. Stop acting like his baby's mama.

Free speech is a privilege? Did you graduate the 1st grade?Oy...
Not being subject to laws passed by the united states congress abridging speech is the ONLY free speech right you or I possess.
Only.
You or I do NOT have a right to say whatever we want here, there, on Twitter, in someone's home, in MSG, in a movie theater or pretty much anywhere else.
You should not mock people for being uneducated when it is you who doesn't understand this basic principle.
Martin can ban my ass right now for identifying the abject stupidity of your remark, and it might be a dick move, but he'd be 100% within his rights and in no way, shape, or form would he be violating my rights.
This is FAR too important to get wrong.
Stop getting it wrong.
That p ssy b tch messageboard is a an echo chamber for the same 7-8 posters who suffer from Dunning-Krueger Effect. That’s why it’s never made money that’s why it never got the site traffic the more popular JI site got that also lost money. Yeah I get it, I won’t get criminally prosecuted for disagreeing with their stupid opinions. But if you are trying to advertise yourself as an inclusive messageboard where ideas have a right to be heard don’t ban everyone who disagrees with you because you can’t evaluate the qb position
You seem to be very butthurt. Maybe you are over there. I don’t care about your opinion of me or your opinion of anything really. That’s why I support free speech and that’s why I’m successful in life and like a grownup can realize when the team I root for is obviously screwing up.
Now go take a midol.
gradyandrew wrote:PhilC, in light of this season have you reconsidered your infamous "worst contract in the league" statement? Some guys are calling Julius 2nd best power forward.
I think that philc guy is in the same place where all the people who have been screaming to salary dump RJ for 10 months hang out
And since this thread was created about me?
I'm going to respond.
1.) New York is 12-3 since the Josh Hart addition @ .800% and the Knicks are on the verge of 50+ wins for only the 14th time in Franchise History (77 YEARS) and also on the verge of 50+ wins for only the 2nd time in 23 Years.
So if your each and every 2023 post isn't full of energy and excitement? Don't blame me. Look @ yourself in the mirror and deal with it (your personal problem as a sports fan, not mine).
2.) I'm going to give some of you UltimateKnicks fans exactly what you want.
I'm going to post less often (like I've been doing), post less in the Game Threads (like I've been doing) and show less excitement here (like I've been doing).
3.) I'm going to focus more on building up my Knicks Twitter Account/Page. Because it's been super fun and I'm having a blast (especially during Knicks spaces where we meet up before and after games and talk our Knicks shit on the microphone amongst one another).
I just joined/discovered #KnicksTwitter a little over 1 month ago. I love it.
I'm already up to damn near 500 followers (only 1 month later). Went from 1 follower, to 10, to 50, to 100, then 350 etc & now 429 followers.
Feels like every single day I'm waking up to notifications of 20-30+ new Followers (with only 2-3 negative trolls who follow my each and every post. Who I've since, blocked).
Which is letting me know (unlike some of the posters I've ran into on here who "complain about me") lots of NYK fans are enjoying my content/posts I've created and made thus far and have motivated me moving forward.
4.) Once I gain 10,000 Followers on Twitter (only Knicks fans allowed) I'll be creating a YouTube Channel in order to share my energy of Knicks fandom.
5.) Wanted to thank Martin in closing. For giving me a home away from home to talk my Knicks shit for all of these years. You've been more than fair with me, you've kept me around without a permanent banning me (when others think you should've) so I thank you for that. And you'll always have my respect moving forward. Moving from Queens to Florida UltimateKnicks gave me a home away from home to talk NYC 🏀 and I'll always be appreciative for that.
#FollowMeOnKnicksTwitter if some of you ever miss those NYK Mentality type posts (full of energy) moving forward.

As far as all of that "trade away RJ Barrett talk + trade Quentin Grimes and Obi Toppin and Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson and the entire roster outside of only IQ/Brunson" type posts + "Coach Killing Tom Thibs" + "Cam Reddish/Frank/Knox" Stans + "doom and gloom with a soon to be 50+ win team" etc, etc.
Some of you (not all) of you guys can have that shit. Because I don't want it.
PS: My advice for a lot of you guys who've given me a hard time and tried to tell me how to fan?
Don't be chicken little cowards.
Don't NOT post inside of Game Threads (after the games) when you refused to post during and ESPECIALLY before the games started (while adding no type of insight/thoughts/opinions on the game) because if so?
It's easy to "never be wrong" and super convenient to call out others "wrong posts" within the Game Thread (similar to what happened to me after Charlotte's loss despite 9 wins in a row).
Don't be chicken little. Don't not post before games and then think you have the RIGHT to jump down someone's throat for wrong thoughts (that's the definition of, cowardly).

Not sure about you but I don't get any pop up ads on my Cell Phone (on Twitter).
And I agree. This is a great place (UK) to talk Knicks basketball with a strong leader and one who runs this site without 17 mods (to keep you "in check") which is why I've stuck around for as long as I have.
And I'm not retiring from UK. I'll still post from time to time especially in my Eastern Conference Standings thread. I'm just now wanting to give a lot of these guys who've posted in this thread about me, exactly what they want.
And @ the end of the day I'm glad this thread was created about me (in order for others to pile on) because after reading? Just made me excited (moving forward) to continue building up my #KnicksTwitter Page because I'm running into hundreds of different Knicks fans and actually realizing that a lot of people actually, enjoy my thoughts (good feeling).

Bro, just do you. Don't listen to the noise.
Most on here don't have any issues with anyone's frequency of posts or content, as long as it's not derogatory and somewhat conversational. Forget about the sensitive gang who think they have moderator rights. Martin will check you when needed. Not them.
Agreed it's a good forum.
Mentally knows his hoops and has been around since the 90s but he's just the opposite of me. He's super positive and tends to exaggerate some points but he seems like a good dude. I'd have a beer with him but we'd probably yell at each other! LOL

Gustav, have you been since 2020? I remember a thread from far more recently where you introduced yourself to the forum and everyone greeted you.
Maybe you have mistaken my patience to stupidity. The thread I'm talking about was the one where you complained about Randle's scoring decline and turnovers in the 4th quarter. I pointed out that Randle starts the 4th on the bench and the importance of turnover rate rather than raw numbers because some players handle the ball more than others. Your response was you just don't like Randle. Keep it real Gustav.
I can readily accept you not liking this or that player for whatever reason. That's your prerogative. But don't try to gaslight the forum by saying something never happened. Maybe you have changed your mind. Cool. But it's not cool to claim you have been posting before you're big intro thread or to pretend that I didn't patiently respond to your erroneous assumptions.
This seems like a regular issue with you. We went back and forth earlier this week because you were saying "If Mitchell isn't happy we should exlpore trading him during the offseason." and he needs to stop complaining and wort on his game like Garten Stein. Sorry but both of those seem lit ridiculous over reactions in view of his game vs. the nuggets. +11. 7 offensive boards, 3 assists and the winning basket. Your first comment was we should think about moving him. This kind of knee jerk reaction is extremely detrimental and I will call it out every time.

You've been posting here for how long? Ive been posting here regularly since 2010. Took a year off due to illness. If anyone is gaslighting its you. You've been here for about ten minutes by comparison, and you're telling me about my time on this board? Get bent. New posters talk about the regulars as much as they do hoops. You are mostly contributing Drama.
Again stop acting like you are married to Julius Randle. Ive never seen so many posters on this board lose it over suggesting that any player wasnt clutch. Nobody freaked out like this when Melo stopped being clutch. I guess this pearl clutching is a lot easier than responding with facts.
Randle often gets flustered in crunch time, turns the ball over. Poorly timed fouls. But according to you that doesnt really matter. I just dont like Randle is your response. Thats not a fan response, its a fanboy response.
How about a lot less time talking about the fandom of long time posters (not your first time) and more time showing that hoops is what you're really here for.

I deleted that post before you quoted it because I thought I might be wrong for assuming.
Nonetheless this thread has turned into a thread where posters are going after one another (which is why I walked away for 7 days after it was created).
But as far as the types of Knicks fans who literally refuse to talk about the games in the game threads (before the games) but then become the first one's to call out others after the game for "wrong predictions"? I stand on that shit. I find it, cowardly. Don't post before the games but only afterwards means you can never be "wrong". Dude literally quoted 8 of my game thread posts after the Charlotte Hornets loss but that same guy? Had 0 posts both before and during the game.
And that's what truly had me seeing red.
So my apologies.

I don't think you are reading it right.
I deleted that post before you quoted it because I thought I might be wrong for assuming.
Nonetheless this thread has turned into a thread where posters are going after one another (which is why I walked away for 7 days after it was created).

Why do you think anyone needs to post to anything or has the time or inclination or interest to do so?
That’s not reality.
I took my initial response down. But really man, you need to take a different perspective on this and maybe take in some feedback. It’s the same everywhere you post and there is one common juncture.

The thread did become what it became. not because I drove it there.
My intent was pure NYMentality.
Id say if you looking for a 10k following then going to produce a nice video product with graphics, clips, etc, and make it a commercial venture your going to have to be accountable for what people want, and have a thick skin. Yes, you have to do you keep moving it. You will need to keep it fresh and give the people what they want. Will they agree with you always?
Good luck. I don't do Twitter and won't be there.
PhilC? We talk hoop, he makes strong inaccurate response, when corrected the convo ends with nobody learning a thing, or he responds with a defection about something not related.
They speak for themselves.

I think this is a good coda. Thanks.
