Knicks · How do you think the lotto will play out? (page 2)
But if I had to predict, I would think he goes to Houston or Charlotte. I don't think the draft is rigged but if it is, it makes sense Silver would want him in Houston who has the lowest attendance this season or Charlotte who will get new ownership.

Orlando, they have that kind of luck

I do lean toward it being rigged and I have no idea which of these poverty franchises get Adam Silver's thumbs up.
My question was always, How could it NOT be rigged? NBA is a multi multi billion $ business
That question answers itself.
30 owners have billions-dollars investments. The owners have squabbles with one another and with the league. There are ex-owners with no obligation or loyalty to the league.
To suggest 30 billionaires all agree to scripts that doesn't favor them, and then keeps this secret bargain a secret even while in two recent cases they league forced them to sell agains their wishes (not to mention ALL the ex-executives that would have to be aware) is absolutely ludicrous.
The nba has revenue sharing. The draft lottery being rigged like the bulls getting Derrick Rose benefit all 30 teams or at least it was the shared perception by all of the owners that would happen. Owners that might have objected in the past like Dolan have been outcast and mocked by the media. Tom Benson getting gifted Anthony Davis for essentially bailing out a lost franchise needing an owner like the then New Orleans Hornets that was losing money explains itself then the same franchise gets Zion a few years later in exchange for trading AD to the lakers which was supposed to be a cash cow for all the teams as they share revenue.
This is all anecdotal conjecture. And doesn't hold up under even light scrutiny.
Yes, the NBA has revenue sharing (and most of the revenue comes from TV revenue which would blow up if the NBA was really like the WWE (but I guess with magnets in the balls so Randle's prayer in Miami went according to script).
But the REAL value for NBA owners is valuation of their teams, which IS significantly effected by competitive factors.
Why would 29 other owners look at what happened to the Warriors (now the team's most valuable franchise) and not want a piece of that? Why would the Clippers and Celtics go along with the Warriors not being valued more than twice as much as they are... in excess of $4 BILLION dollars?
Assuming the second round isn't rigged, why hasn't the NBA made the Warriors trade Draymond Green as a do good to some other team the way the Pelicans got Zion Williamson (who has hardly played and whose team is under .500?)
Imagine the value of the Knicks today if they won just 1 of the 4 chips the warriors have won.
Then explain why Robert Sarver is keeping the NBA's biggest secret today? Check has cleared.
NOBODY EVER has broken the pact?
The logic collapses under its own weight.

What conclusion must one have when things occur without explanation? "CONSPIRACY"!
WE don't do this when Greg Oden blows his knee, or Sam Bowie over Jordan when you have CLyde Drexler , or zion who rarely plays.
Anthony Bennett?
We cherry picking some but not others? Or just the ones hindsight can point to a conspiracy.
Connect the dots is easy when the mind is small.
Knicks won 24 games to enter the lottery when we got Ewing. We had cartwright. Ewing was easy the best player but the draft was not that great and many teams got a lot of things wrong.
Karl Malone went 13th, Chris Mullin 7th. X-man 4th. Wince when you look at it. https://www.basketball-reference.com/dra...
So why did they gift us him? Not like he was from NY. Not like Stern owed us.
The Frozen envelope? LOL.............
I always enjoy citing how overtly rigged the nba draft is because it makes people wildly angry despite the fact that 1) the draft always goes in some way to benefit the lakers when they suck and/or the nba financially as a whole and 2) it really is not an outrageous conspiracy theory at all.
Btw it’s already leaked out the draft is rigged like AD wearing New Orleans hornets gear a month before the draft or Mutombo congratulating the sixers on winning the lottery 12 hours before it was supposedly done
You stated you went to Hofstra Law school.
Im not an attorney BTW.
But you cite this as your evidence is far from convincing.
Remember the odds of teams in the lottery were different.
Did AD wear any other NBA gear in the that time frame? Even if what you say is substantial.
I think you need verify or provide not just some blog but a good reputable source when making accusations.

Well I’m not arguing a case in criminal court. I’m simply stating an opinion that the nba draft is rigged which it is most years. Go ahead and believe Orlando getting the first pick overall after getting Shaq the year before was just a coincidence and not Stern trying to engineer another cash cow
Panos wrote:Caseloads wrote:The draft lotto sure feels scripted to me. I think the league would never let Wemby end up in a bad situation, billions on the lineWhat's a bad situation?

Here's what I find interesting.
The conspiracy theory advocates don't engage in discourse. Just drop an anecdote, dismiss random chance, suggest their conspiratorial theory sans evidence is self-explanatory, and walk away, often smugly.
Again, there are TONS of very basic questions that premise the lottery is "rigged" inherently opens, but conspiracy theorists never answer them.
As for rigged, what exactly are they rigging? A high percentage for that franchise to be disappointed?

Portland Houston Charlotte and Utah really

If one of them wins the lottery, will you question whether the lottery is rigged?

I don’t know what is agreed to behind the scenes. Seems these are the least desirable locations for a top pick

Let me rephrase and then ask another...
1. Would you reconsider the premise there is any agreement?
Then...
Caseloads wrote:The draft lotto sure feels scripted to me. I think the league would never let Wemby end up in a bad situation, billions on the line
2. What do the other lottery teams get in order to "agree" not to get Wemby, given the "billions on the line," the leverage this gives teams, and what they are passing up for themselves?
What's in it for them?

Portland is bad?
Houston loaded with yoot, picks and space. They can make trades.
Utah well coached with lots of assets to build on.
isn't the point of top talent to turn it around?
but lets be real. You get a generational talent it does add to the bottom line. Until they leave.
GSW has an uncertain future. Once this run is over and if there is a dip for a while that infrastructure is expensive to keep.
True for all teams.
