Reports are that the 2024_2025 draft is weak, any chance the Knicks can trade Rokas during that draft for future assets. I don't see Rokas coming over this summer as the team has Deuce as third string pg. And IQ and Grimes with Hart at the 2. Plus they may draft an other wing. What you think about Rokas' value

Our team is now flush with yoot, but what is the market for other teams?
Fact is at some we either trade picks or players as they need time on the court.
Roka’s is how old? Making how much in Europe? What is his pay ceiling there?
THen who if not us is willing to give him an opportunity to play, learn, make mistakes, and develope in the time line needed. What does our FO and staff project as a timeline to make a big move/trade and go all in for a 3 year window?
Rokas might be worth a second round pick but since he has never played in the league, a second rounder is the most you could hope for. The Knicks should look for a trade for a potential high second rebounder. Future draft picks are always helpful and we now have three pgs on the team already.

Perhaps rooted in reality but would be curious what current scouting would rate him and if he would be a sure fire first rounder.
They only play like 60 some odd regular season games and he plays just under 20 min a game. They play 40 min games.
They do things differently including substitution patterns.
Better hide this thread before Martin sees!
I guess he’s supposed to be legit but with Brunson, Quickley and McBride all playing well he might not want to come over since he said he wants a path to playing time in the NBA.

Don't discount any trade of either Quick, mcbride, or Grimes as if they are untouchable. Same for Barrett.
Have to have an open mind.
A team in need of a guard with a 10-6 pick could see IQ as better than anyone they can draft and pay a premium for him. That alone warrants consideration. Not saying he is on a Brunson like ascent, but he will want to be paid and perhaps an opportunity to start.
At the end of the day there are many ways to improve. Im fine with our organic growth of our yoot and perhaps move one for future picks if need be.
Rokas could factor in, or totally non commit to ever come here and is a throw in after thought.
Not sure if it was mentioned here already as it was a few weeks back, but Jokubaitis has been named one of the six finalists for the Euroleague Rising Star award and obviously if he won it'd be back-to-back win for him, Doncic being the only guy to have ever done that.
The winner is named at the end of the year, which I think it mid-April.
Package him with Randle for Westbrook or Wall.
Rokas has gotten a lot of attention in EU and the guy is a 44% career shooter from 3. Like we need to look at that
No way New York should be developing Rokas Jokubaitis, for another team.
This kid is making a name for himself in Europe.
And he's making a name for himself in the Spanish league too (the best league and most competitive/difficult league outside of the NBA).
I absolutely love this kid as a pure and NATURAL PG and can already envision him as NY's #1 PG off the bench while spelling Jalen Brunson and moving the needle for our 2nd unit @ PG who thrives off of ball movement (moving forward) with Deuce McBride reminding me of more of a combo Guard. Rokas Jokubaitis is, PURE.
He's already won the Euro-League Rising Star Award. Look @ previous/former winners. Impactful players. Luka Doncic being 1 of them.
It's all about developing overseas for Rokas Jokubaitis. He's extremely young and extremely talented. Can't wait until he gets called up.

No way am I trading Quickley for a pick. He’s a keeper unless it’s in a package for a superstar.
He's to much of an unknown (within how he would fair in the NBA) to trade for a 2nd round pick. For all we know he is a future all star caliber PG. To trade him for a 2nd would be malpractice. Lets see him in summer league and pre season.
His credentials overseas is worthy of a lottery pick compared to the college kids coming out this yr.

Yes, a sure thing. Its what we all want. If you move up maybe you draft that kid who becomes a star. I said high conviction.

This team is not going to change their whole direction to bring Rokas in and give him minutes. If he proves worthy then move him for a first round pick, but he is not beating out Brunson or Quickley. I do agree that the Knicks need to get an accurate read on his potential, but no one giving up a lottery pick for him. We might be able to get a later first rounder. His Euro stats are good but they are not crazy good. His stats were not like Luka’s.

Luka blew the doors off his projections when he got to the NBA. Nobody saw that coming as it did. He was lottery on potential, but what he became was more!
for Rokas, "Knicks need an accurate read on his potential"........They might, we don't.
Luka's stats were not crazy either. None of the young euros are. If a player has NBA aspirations they play him, but not to full extent. We have seen this many times before.

A lot of people did, it's why he was picked 3rd and probably slid only BECAUSE he was playing in Europe. Qualify it by "as it did" all you want but he was an incredibly high level prospect.
I'd guess that the scouting and then the translation of what is happening over in the Euro leagues over to what may or may not translate either against college play or how it will translate to the NBA is just not as well-known to NBA teams.

Who said anything about changing the direction of the team? We have his rights. He wants to come to the NBA he will have to go through the Knicks process. If it’s not beneficial for him he will either have to stay overseas, or wait for a deal that benefits the Knick. But I’m not moving the 21-22 Euroleague rising star for a 2nd rounder.

Rokas Jo’s only exceptional skill appears to be a 42% 3-point shooting percentage. Nothing else sticks out even though he appears adequate as an pg and defender. The issue becomes what are you going to do with him. The kid is not coming unless he sees a clear opportunity to play. Hart has essentially taken McBride’s minutes, so we really do not even have a 3rd pg spot to offer, plus he would have to beat out McBride who himself put up solid stats in the g league. I agree the Knicks should get good value for him and perhaps he is worth a mid-first rounder, but the lottery is usually about potential and Rokas has not done enough to scream lottery all-star potential. We need to keep acquiring picks because the team is at a point where we are going to have to pay Hart and Quickley this summer and we are going to be over the cap going forward. We need to keep a pipeline of cheap talent coming in, so trading for future picks makes more sense to me rather than having this guy sitting on the bench potentially losing value while he does not play.

I know I deserve to get called out from time to time but 3 teams fucked it up. PHX, Sac, and ATL. not saying they did not think it was worth the pick, but This kid out of the box was far more special than thought. We talking a draft where Mo Bamba went 6th! We treat Knox as some kind of war crime commited by knicks!
That draft was messed up.
Im not pro scout and obviously Dallas did good. Perhaps Trae was seen as the safe pick and ATL got cute. It happens.
Trae is far from a bust. He is an asshole.
I think we can agree Luka was not the can’t miss pick evident by where he went and that ATL traded down.
So when I say “nobody saw that coming”, Im not saying he was passed over by 8 teams and ignored.
