Can get none of the above?

LaVine would definitely give us a legit shot maker and if given RJ’s minutes/shot attempts would probably be much more efficient.
I think LaVine comes down to exactly what Thibs thinks of him. If he thinks he’s tough minded and coachable we will kick the tires this summer.
My understanding is LaVine is a pretty decent man defender. He’s long and quick. His issue is off-ball awareness. Thibs coached him so it will be up to him I’m sure. The fact he’s been rumored to the Knicks means thibs probably likes him. My opinion is this team isn’t very good without Brunson. They can survive when Quickley and Barrett go off but generally the bad habits of Randle come out. LaVine solves a lot of that. If we go for an upgrade he’s the guy.
Zach is hurt a ton, really a SG and makes $40mm+ a year. Cost would have to to be REALLY favorable. Like would you include IQ or Mitch? Picks? He's good but not sure he's good enough considering the cost and current depth at that position.Ingram is the guy I would go hard for. He misses about the same number of games Zach does, but he's a true 3, cheaper (2 more years) and might cost less. Their big problem is depth. I would think getting back guys like McBride/Obi with RJ would be enticing for Ingram and not cost us draft comp. When he gets hurt Hart can play there and you go heavy with 3 guard line ups (I want to keep IQ)
I wouldn’t include IQ or Mitch. It would be barrett, Rose and picks.
I like Ingram but he misses a lot of games. A lot more than LaVine.

Why would you target those 3 old dogs when Jaylen Brown is sitting right there?
This is kind of a referendum on RJ right? RJ simultaneously has the second lowest efg% on the team, just ahead of McBride on more than 5x the amount of attempts and tied with Grimes and Brunson for worse Defensive Rating. He seldom steals or blocks either.
Nalod's point is that he's likely to improve with age. I think nyk mentality is of the same opinion with the Kobe comparisons. With his contract extension kicking in next year it seems like there's a 50/50 chance of that contract turning out either OK or a bad deal. The improvement in free throws and 2 pt fg% has been nice but I don't think it's been big enough to ease long term concerns.
Jimmy Butler for RJ and picks/ contracts would seem to be the quickest way to a top seed in the East. I'm not sure if the Knicks locker room is strong enough to take all the baggage that goes with Butler. He takes fewer shots than RJ, scores more and more efficiently and is a way better defender. At 33 I don't think he's particularly old.
KAT is the other guy I target because of his shooting. Again it would be for RJ's spot meaning the Knicks would have to juggle their defense more, probably putting Randle on 3's and KAT on 4's. It would take KAT some adjustment to lose weight and get thinner and meaner.
As far as the other guy's mentioned- Anouby, DeRozan or LaVine, I think risks outweigh rewards.
Grant seems like he would be a perfect fit for a lot of reasons. I don't know if Portland would accept RJ back in a sign and trade because it would seem to push Portland's timeline back significantly. Lillard doesn't want to move and his contract is so big it doesn't make too much sense to surround him with young guys.
On a small deal for back up 3/4 get MacDaniels from Minnesota he impressed me. Slashes to the basket, nice outside shot, can guard anyone on the switch. Don't think it will cost much to get him, and the coach don't like to have rookies, maybe some seconds and a contract to match.

McDaniels has also impressed the Wolves, so much so they held firm on including him in the Gobert trade.

We need to find guys like that playing on bad teams, like we did Josh hart in Portland or Drose in Detroit.
The RJ hate is neverending

you mead his bad play. Like 4 TOs, 4 PFs and 4 baskets made. That's bad.
Depends on the price as always but I'm not giving up RJ plus assets for a player 10 years older who isn't a perfect fit. I would prefer to stay pat and keep developing RJ or acquire a better wing defender who isn't a dinosaur to take his place like OG.

So the solution is sign a much older player who is not a good 3 point shooter like Derozan

We just have to continue to rely on the draft. It’s again a very wing heavy draft. Not the sexy solution but the right solution

what? who is saying that? Im not. Maybe your solution which sucks. Mine was target OG, Hunter or Ingram.
Target this guy:
Full quote: “I don’t know. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me. We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct. I just enjoy the time that you have now. If it’s your whole career, it’s your whole career. If it’s not, it’s not. Some of the greatest players of all time haven’t finished with their organization. Michael Jordan retired a Wizard.”

this would be fantastic. Obviously he has to want to come here and the price would high to say the least.
If Brown dislikes some Boston fans I'm sure he's going to love the toxic Knicks fans! LOL

Boston fans are a different flavor of obnoxious than stereotypical NY fans. They will drunkenly bully and heckle Jason Kidd’s wife for simply sitting in the stands and they are spoiled after winning 35 championships last 20 years
Deandre Hunter is not better than RJ.
Ingram is a better shooter.
We often devalue our own but time will tell.

They booed the home team during the Finals! I'm not sure why anyone would want to play there.

$$$,$$$,$$$
We boo our own and we have not won shit in 50 years!
They are passionate.
Boston and philly have some obnoxious fans for sure.
Concerned about Derozan's ability to stay healthy.
Concerned that Butler and Randle filling the same role.
Grant.. IDK.
