Concerned about Derozan's ability to stay healthy.
Concerned that Butler and Randle filling the same role.
Grant.. IDK.

None are perfect. I like LaVine because I feel like he can take over games the way teams need. But he’s not really a SF. I like Bridges and Anunoby but feel like they aren’t really available. Jaylen Brown won’t be traded in division if he demands a trade. There’s no perfect fit.
Butler is the best player and we could do an easy trade of RJ, Fournier, Toppin, and a 1st round pick for Butler. Butler would give us an upgrade on defense while not losing any scoring. We instantly would be a contender with this trade.
Grant would be my second option. He is younger. He is more of a PF than SF, but I think he can competently guard 3s and he would add some much needed height to our starting lineup. Grant would be a long-term solution at the position and he is shooting the 3 at 40% this year.
Derozan would be my third option.

Perhaps Anunoby or Pascal will be moved from toronto from the rumors at the trade deadline. With FVV free the winds of change are possible there.
Forward thinking you want younger healthy guys. OG fits that.
Im an RJ homer, as I am on all the yoots so to me, OG is good, but not that much better than three year younger RJ.
My sense is RJ at 22 might be projecting higher.
Im not convinced Brunson and Randle are a championship core, so the timeline is still not etched in stone. Its been a fun run since Randles Birthday and he was reborn.
Seedings are not bonafide predictors. Thibs gets slammed for over performing in the regular season.

re: Butler
We have empirical evidence the Knicks record/play improves as their 3 pt shooting improves.
It would seem to be the reasonable best version of Randle going forward is a high volume 3 pt shooter with just enough efficiency to justify it.
Knicks can't expect any stretch offense from the 5 anytime soon.
Brunson has been terrific from 3, but I still argue the best version of THIS Knicks roster requires effective 3 point shooting from the wings.
I don't question Butler's offensive efficiency or his defensive ability. I do have questions about how his his lack of 3 pt shooting would effect the Knicks offense.

Anunoby would be great if we are trying to maximize a Brunson/ Randle core. RJ might be of interest to Toronto due to being from the area. Fan base loves him. Toronto won’t do a real rebuild so Barrett plus picks could be a retool for them. Also, Jaylen brown potentially being on the market is great but they wouldn’t be interested in a Knicks package. They will want another star. It could be a rare star for star deal. Like brown for KAT.

Do you think KAT would fit? There would be some adjustments with a Brunson Grimes Randle KAT Mitch Rob lineup but I have seen Randle guard guys like Butler and Tatum so maybe it works. I don't think KAT likes banging below and would prefer a Durant type role. Knicks could do Fournier RJ and Obi and then send a bunch of picks. I'm not sure how the Thibs/ KAT relationship ended but it seems like Randle and him are close friends. They always have big smiles after games.

Do we have other options?

I don't think KAT is a fit at the 5. Knicks can't give up that much rim protection.
KAT is a soft bitch until he is a trade idea? LOL.
Do Raptors want RJ cuz he canadian? Not like he a national hero there. He left home at 15 to play ball in Florida.
RJ is doing much better except for the outside deep ball.
Last year we wanted him to finish stronger at the rim and get FT's. He is doing that.
Pass on KAT. He’d be redundant with Randle already at PF and he’s not as good defensively as Mitch
I wouldn't mind if we didn't make a big trade or new free agent signing. Watching these young'uns earn minutes and have career outings is cathartic.
I like the idea of keeping our core together for another year before adding another piece. We're just learning to play together as presently constructed and don't have a good sense of upside yet. With so many young players, there's a tremendous amount of room for improvement with internal growth and improvement.
I see Randle and Brunson as our #1/#2 options. RJ and Quickley currently occupy the #3/#4 options, though on some other teams, they could probably function as #2 scorers on other team. We can keep things flexible depending on match ups.
We assume Hart is going to stay. He's a guy that can be a 4th/5th option that can capitalize on attention given to star players do damage that way. I think what you'd ideally be looking for is a better version of him.
I've become a big fan of Jimmy Butler as of late (as he tears my team apart in a fantasy league with his frequent 10 free throw nights). There are a few issues (his contract and relationship notwithstanding) with him:
1) he been a featured offensive star for so long (and deserves it) - so he won't exactly be plug and play. We'll need to change the way we play to integrate him
2) he has a lot of miles. I think you can guarantee him missing about 20% of the games per season and even then you might find him hobbled for the games he does play.
3) I think playing elite D and getting old do not mix well together. You either get a lot of coasting on effort (picking and choosing moments) and/or you're prone to injury on these quick direction change/reaction plays. Think about Lebron's groin and leg issues over the past few seasons.
Basically, he'd be a gamble.
Any player that is used to being featured on offense may not be so happy here, as we have 4 guys right now who are talented enough to take a lot of shots.
Butler dismantled the Knicks tonight. FWIW
I'm thinking a front line of KAT Randle and Mitch Rob where KAT's main role on offense is to spread the floor and knock down 3's off of kick outs. He could slide up and down depending on match ups. It would probably require him losing some weight.
