Must have been a tough first 46 minutes for you?
Not even. I was high as a kite. But in the end... It was loss. I'd be happier if he scored 9 points in a win.
Got it. But true on the win meaning more. Always some no name coming in a lighting it up at MSG. Smh
Kudos to Randle, he had a monster game. Career night and well done sir BUT………
If Prince is shooting 8for8 from 3, why did Randle leave him wide open?
I’m not mad at the rebound he should’ve had because he was gassed. He’s a 3 quarter SUPERSTAR when he’s focused. But he uses so much energy in 3 quarters, he doesn’t have enough mental or physical energy to close games. I know he was on fire and breaking records but he should not be the number 1 option in crunch time. Let this be a learning lesson for the team.
Brunson was trying to take over at one point but Randle ran to the ball and took it out of his hands.
Let’s use this as a playoff lesson.
But when finishing games, we need to play to our strengths and that’s Mr 4th quarter himself…………
Jalen Brunson
Did Thibs get burned by bringing out Frank Ntilikina to defend the final possession of the Game 1 playoff loss to Trae and Atlanta? McBride is one of the top defenders in the league, it just seems strange that at some point he doesn't hurt to him and say make something happen.
I would’ve put deuce on nowell who was cooking us. Just like the bulls who had all those goons at center during MJs time. We have goons at PG for special momentum changing plays. Deuce and hart could swing momentum with defense alone. We got cooked at several positions from PG to wings to the paint.
Whenever we don’t play team defense, our crunch time offense gets exposed.
Yes we have to play better defense. But also thibs has to call better offensive plays on crunch time.
We need both to win a playoff series. Defense and crunch time offense!
- thought Thibs went back to Randle/Brunson about 3 mins too early
- obviously can’t expect to win giving up those crazy shooting %
- Quick with play of game fouling McDaniel on 3 from top of key - I think right as went up 3 (IQ 2 3-pt fouls)
- Prince = the Ricky Rubio scrub of century
- Grimes 1 shot attempt
- Brunson has to guard/stop somebody. We are moving him to worst wing and he’s still getting beat repeatedly
- RJ with another RJ stinker - some of his dribble/ pass follies are high school level
Ok enough positivity for 1 night

Yes - when Knicks come out with the we will out score you style — typically we are in trouble late
HofstraBBall wrote:That last possession by the Timbs is why I have issues with Obi. Soft on box out, soft on denying an easy layup. Hope someone works with him on that as much as his 3pt shot this summer.
If Obi would only open his eyes and watch Hart/Hart right in front of him and just come out balls to the walls flying around diving for loose balls, taking a charge, blocking a shot, taking something hard to the basket.
Instead we keep getting leak out / cherry pick Obi — it’s a shame he’s got game in him wish he would scrap more often.

If you mean - why did we continue to go over screens and trail the high screen I agree.
We kept fighting over top but ended up giving up the lane and kick outs to open shooters. Would have preferred an adjustment to contain (drop coverage) and force the ball handler to shoots 3s. The way we played it we gave up EVERYTHING- LAYUPS, DUNKS, 3’S AND FREE THROWS.
Tough night where you are watching and worrying when are we going to make final screw up.
Jaden McDaniels would be good on our bench a pick and a contracts like Sims to make the money work

I don’t know how these guys continue to beat the nbas best and then let these games go.
then you dont understand the NBA. This happens all the time. Its why they play so many games. Also we have a RJ Kobe Barrett problem... we are just too committed to him. He was a shit show in the 4th qtr and couldnt get him yanked fast enough. 4 TOs, 4 PFs an 4 buckets made. Grimes had one shot? ONE?
It was not our night. Defense sucked, Gobert gives us problems and they had a random guy almost make the NBA record for most 3s with no miss. This is one you look past and "get back to work"
Gut wrenching loss. Honestly would have preferred to just get blown out. Feel bad for Randle. That was an incredible historical performance! Third most points scored at MSG! He was just unbelievable! Finished with 57 but should have eclipsed 60 and broken Melo's record if we did a better job of getting him the ball in the fourth! IQ played too much hero ball to my liking as well. Which I don't mind if a guy is feeling it but it wasn't IQ's night. It was Randle's. Get him the ball. Even if the Wolves kept doubling and triple teaming. Let Randle run the offense. He earned it. Poor job by Thibs, Brunson, IQ and even Randle late in the game. Up 5 you got to win games like that!
But this game was loss in the pregame warmup's and locker room. We were not ready to play. We thought the Wolves would roll over and it was going to be super easy. To give up 42 in the first and 140 total and 24 threes to that team is embarrassing. We are way too arrogant. We haven't accomplished anything to act like this way and it's going to come back to bite us in the ass when we have to play a Game 7 in Cleveland instead of the Garden and get sent home packing. These games matter!
Give the Wolves credit. Prince looked like KD out there. Very impressed with McDaniel, Neil and Nowell too.
This sucks.
Randle looked dead tired right around the time he got 50? I think it was with 2-3 minutes left in 3rd?
I don't know why he wouldn't ask out or why Thibs wouldn't just take him out. Or maybe cause Randle was just at such a historic scoring level so just leave him in?

Thibs has some genetic mutation that forbids him to sub Julius out at any point other than normal rotation schedule. He just won’t do it — Jules could be on life supplant Thibs would keep him in until end of 3rd.
I commented on prior post that I felt he brought Jules/Brunson back in 4th about 3 mins early — just thought bench was defending well and bringing back for last 5-6 mins was enough.
