Grimes has regressed but he starts and needs to find his rhythm sooner.
As discussed before an others, he is doing other things while he figures it out.
JHart has eaten into RJ’s minutes also. He and IQ are playing about the same on most nights.
IQ is often finishing games if he is hitting his shots.
With JHart here Grimes does not finish.

I know it's not the point being made here, but man are we lucky Horford missed that buzzer 3 in Boston - it was right in his spot!

Since this thread was created?

Quentin Grimes throughout the previous 5 games has averaged 19.6 Points off of .523% shooting (.489% from 3) along with 5.4 Rebounds, 3.8 Assists and awesome Defense/Energy/Effort.

Stop blaming "JOSH HART" for a 2nd year Rising-Star having up' and downs.

Who is this is KD cat? Has he played this year?
This also confirms that Thibs tells all our yoots to stay in the corner.

Agree he’s gotta be much more involved. He’s like stuck in the middle with stuff. He’s gotta hunt shots more. Use his excellent straight line driving ability. He’s gotta give 12-13 nightly

Get rid of RJ and more shots open for everyone else. No reason to have a low efficeny shooter taking so many shots. He hurrs the team. He is a losing player.

Not for nothing, but someone posted that RJ,IQ and Grimes had nearly identical efficiency numbers( 3 pointers were omitted, as was duly noted by another poster) Don't remember which thread and the search button is still in production...

That’s awesome. Gratz to Q.

You could have given me 100 guesses and I wouldn't of selected Horford as the KIng of the corner 3.

3 point shooting is kind of a big deal. The thing about Grimes and IQ is they play within the offense, and they defend. RJ doesn't do either of those things. With Brunson and Randle playing this well, this team is supringslgy close. They are 1 really good wing away from competing for a title. My hope was RJ would be that guy, but I'm not so sure anymore.

At the rim, RJ has improved his efficiency. Unfortunately, he cannot shoot and is highly inefficient everywhere else. IQ and Grimes have solid efficiency (or improving efficiency) from all areas of the court, as they both are shooters. It is probably time to trade RJ.

"Regressed"

Is a strong use of vocabulary and/or an extreme, 'knee-jerk' reaction.

Especially considering the fact how "Josh Hart" had only played a whooping (small sample size of) only 16 games as a Knick (before Josh Hart's name was thrown into this thread title).

I mean,

Really?

Quentin Grimes @ only 22 year old (Rising-Star) and during only his 2nd year after being drafted 25th overall last year (sleeper pick) was somehow "REGRESSING" and Josh freaking Hart was the "example" who was used for his so called, "regression"?

I call that crazy talk because if anything; Quentin Grimes has improved (night and day) in comparison to his Rookie season (of just last year.).

And there are aspects to Grimes game that doesn't (exactly) show up on an NBA box score (but aspects that I pay close attention to).

Such as energy, effort, defensive intensity, ball movement and good shot selections etc (even on misses) and those are all categories in which Quentin Grimes has played with (as a Starter) since pretty much, day 1.

(which is why his Coach, Tom Thibs; has kept him in his starting lineup throughout pretty much the entire season).

Quentin Grimes tonight vs. Washington?

27 Points.
5 Assists.
2 Rebounds.
0 Turnovers.
9/17 from the field (.529%).
6/11 from 3 @ .545%.
+/- of +16.

Quentin Grimes previous 6 games since thread creation?

125 Points.
29 Rebounds.
24 Assists.
7 Steals.
FG = 43/82 (.524%).
3PT = 29/58 (50%).

That's an average of 20.8 Points, 4.8 Rebounds, 4.0 Assists and 1.1 Steals Per Game @ .524% shooting from the field and 50% from 3 point land (previous 6 games).

So if anything?

Quentin Grimes has not "regressed" since "Josh Hart".

Quentin Grimes has now (actually) improved since (Josh Hart)

Small 16 game sample size, small 6 game same size etc, etc it doesn't really matter because @ the end of the day we're now seeing why Coach Tom Thibs was head over heels over Grimes heading into the draft last year and why despite being only a 2nd year kid has already received 68 STARTS this season.

Dude isn't "regressing".

He's (NBA) developing.

TPercy @ 4/3/2023 2:34 PM
I think next step for Grimes as a player is getting a comfortable in between game. Sometimes he'll dribble it and look indecisive because he dosen't want to take the 3 and knows he'll be met at the rim by a rim protector. IQ has started that process and I think Grimes should as well. I think fully developed Grimes should be an elite 15 ppg 3-4 ast guy
martin @ 4/5/2023 9:46 PM
We call this optimal peaking, not regressing.

VDesai @ 4/5/2023 10:03 PM
Grimes looking like an absolute stud lately. Sweet shot, quick first step, nice finishing and a great drive and kick. Smothering on defense.
Panos @ 4/5/2023 10:25 PM
I just hope he can sustain this when the 3 ballhogs get back in the starting lineup. If so, they should be able to advance in the playoffs.
