Grimes is finally starting to play like we thought he would when the season began. He should be taking at least 15-16 shots a game. RJ should not be taking more than 15 shots. Time to shift and make Grimes and RJ 3a and 3b as far as the scoring options. The Knicks have been underutilizing Grimes as a scorer all year. Hopefully, he has turned the corner and can give us 15-17 points a game.

He had a good game tonight, and I'm sure the love will be over the moon. But if Willie Burton was capable of a 50 point game, Grimes is more than capable of putting up big numbers when he is locked in.
Nope. Didn't see this thread coming at all....

I'm happy for Grimey. Nice guy, great 2-way talent. Exactly what this team needs more of.
But where I'm different is the bold statement.
What if the slow start was on Grimes? Maybe he just wanted to fit in and not rock the boat. I know there's been plenty of times where he's watching all 3 dominate the ball. And when he finally gets a pass, he's focused on moving the rock instead of shooting it. This happens a lot when your a system shooter on an ISO heavy team.

we need grimes to shine to be competitive

He's back up to 38% from three. He had a bit of a sophomore slump, but he's bursting through. I think the biggest thing is the improvements he's made driving off the catch. That'll transform him into the team's next headache rookie extension.

I love grimes man. He can shoot pass and defend. I want to see him pull up more like he did in college. I think he can be a long term 15 log here

Averaging 21 per over the past 4 games! Thibs just keeps on adding guys to the arsenal. I think it's more about attacking the weakest link in the defense and taking the shots the defense gives up. Sometimes that will be Randle and Brunson putting guys on an island and sometimes it will be having IQ and Grimes bust the zone. And sometimes it will be Robinson dominating inside like vs. Boston.
The Knicks have shown the ability to situationaly dominate teams. A lot of that comes down to having a variety of plug and play personnel. I think New York has proven all it can in the regular season, the next obvious step is seeing if we can become a playoff regular.

Of the 13 threes in this video, 9 were nothing but net!! Now that is shooting.

Grimes gonna be an elite 2-way guy. Same with IQ.
It's incredible.

Funny - coming into this season thinking SG was where we needed to upgrade. Turns out we just needed a little pruning in order to let the flowers bloom!

All you need to know about how Grimes finished up his sophomore campaign (and how much of a weapon he should be against the Cavaliers) can be gleaned by looking at the NBA leaders in 3-point attempts over the final eight games of the regular season.
joec32033@ 4/10/2023 11:22 AM
Hate to be the pessimist here. Giving Grimes his flowers on he can shoot, and I've made my opinions on Grimes pretty clear (my opinion hasnt changed). Having said that, no one realistically expects his 53% FG and 46% 3pt percentages to hold up long term, right?
nyvector16@ 4/10/2023 11:36 AM
Grimes is getting his numbers with 0 plays drawn for him. If he had at least 2 plays a quarter drawn up for him, he would be a consistent 20+ point scorer.
He is headed to elite status in another year or two... I hope we extend him as soon as we are able to.
