Knicks in 7 because 1) NBA will want & manage to 7 games 2) because I trust us more on road

My 2 keys are pretty simple
- our backcourt & wing defenders IQ, Grimes, Hart & yes Deuce are superior to Cavs
- Julius/RJ have to play OK and NOT completely shat the bed

Agree. Nobody has to play GREAT, just not bad!!!
They are long and they will defend the rim.
Get used To RJ getting blocked but we need to take it to them in foul trouble.

Knicks in 3.

After 3 beatdowns, Silver introduces a new playoff mercy rule. Dubs it the "Bing Bong" rule. Announces that Cleveland has been Bing Bong'd.

Then he starts making gangsta signs and saying "DONOVAN... DON'TCHU WISH YOU WAS A KNIIIIIIIIIIICK?!?"

Alpha1971 @ 4/11/2023 9:32 PM
I just watched the last game we played then. Mitchell guarded Barrett for stretches. If RJ shoots well from outside can't see Mitchell being allowed to guard Barrett Brunson and IQ will abuse Mitchell on offense X factor for Knicks is Grimes and RJ I am think Randall plays sharing time with Obi. Knicks in 5. The reverse of the Knicks vs Atlanta fiasco.

Cavs in 5 or 6.
Heady wins by heedless youngsters at the end of the regular season are one thing. The playoffs - where players need to bring discipline, focus, intensity and energy every single second of the game - are quite another.
JR and RJ make too many mistakes and are too sloppy still, playoff basketball does not forgive that.
Donovan Mitchell has 39 playoff games under his belt and, while he met mixed success there, this still gives him more PO experience than for all our guys combined. And experience matters in the playoffs.
Sorry, the Cavs are simply better balanced, more talented and more experienced than us. To take the series, we would need to bring a new unprecedented level of energy, plus get a breakout all-star-level performance out of one of our young guys.
ramtour420 @ 4/12/2023 10:10 AM
I picked us to win in 6. The logic was that we will need to win on the road to win the series and stealing a game early in the series is easier than it is to win g 7. Remember, the pressure will be on the Cavs to protect home court. Why do I think we will win? I have reasons to believe that Brunson will just completely tear it up these playoffs. They don't have anyone to stop him, while we have quality defenders to challenge Mitchell. Randle will have a more difficult time against their bigs. It's all going to come down to how well we can get buckets off of assists. That's what creates momentum and that's key.
gradyandrew @ 4/12/2023 11:38 AM
The thing for me is that everyone talks about what a great player Mobley is but after watching 4 Knicks Cavs games this season, I don't think he's had much of an impact. It makes me think Randle can out play him. A lot will come down to health. I'm not sure what injuries players are dealing with besides Randle s ankle.

Mobley is 21... let that sink in.

Biggest thing Im worried about with Randle is shooting. If he's favoring it that could def jam up his jumper.

I really think it's gonna be wild. Both teams got big athletic frontcourts. Cle has the most explosive backcourt, but not by a ton AND their backcourt defense is super sketchy. I expect Grimes/Brunson to get at it early and go right at whoever Garland is guarding every possession.

fishmike @ 4/12/2023 12:45 PM
Cle's path to winning is obvious to me. Force Randle and RJ into bad shots. Harass Randle by guarding him with a wing. You cant keep him (Randle) off the boards but you try guarding him with a small. If you do its a GIVEN he will pound the rock into the post at which point you blitz. Jules has done better and better with this but is still prone to sketchy midrange shots in this spots.

For RJ he's going to be guarded softly. Please shoot the 3 (See Draymond Green defense). IF you want to take it to the rim we're wildly favoring your left hand and giving a clear path to help every time. RJ's record for passing out of this help is not good.

Brunson is gonna get an easy 30. They have no answer for him.

I think this series will come down to IQ and Josh Hart. They are far superior to anything Cle has off their bench AND they are tough 2-way guy who are going to see 25-30+ minutes easy. Garland/Mitchell are phucking great. Those guys are tough covers. What helps us is having IQ/Grimes/JHart... 3 PLUS defenders to chase these guys around all night. Im assuming Brunson guard Lavert or Okoro (mostly)

This is the reason I think the Knicks can and do win this. I am also hoping we see an IQ/Grimes breakout and people start seeing "they arent role players anymore"

Philc1 @ 4/12/2023 3:07 PM
If you listen to the media the cavs will sweep us

I miss the first round 5 game series format. To me that was the most compelling. It wasn’t a stupid one game play in nor was it another long drawn out potentially 2 week 7 game series. The inferior team had a legit shot like when the sonics beat the nuggets or when we beat the heat although one can argue talent wise we were the superior team

Absolutely, there was an actual chance for a first round upset. Not so much anymore

I was surprised when I first learned it was one-and-done. Don’t care for it.

Unless the Knicks go 4 - 0, because, y'know, Knicks are going all the way.

Way too many teams are in the playoffs now. And give me a break that it’s not the playoffs it’s the “play-in”. Whatever

I hope Im completely wrong here but I feel the same way.

Add to the fact that Randle may not be at 100%

Good thing JB has no respect for rim protection.
