Very clear Thibs adjustment. He made me proud tonight.

What's the gist? Twitter links are blocked by the benevolent Great Firewall.

I think (not sure) the gist is we used IQ and Even Hart to set the high screen roll vs Mitch/Randle so,we had a better passer/decision maker taking any passes off the high screen from Brunson.

So if Brunson gave the ball up he was giving it up to someone not named Julius/Mitch

You got it. The guards were also setting more sold screens since the point of the screens were to give Brunson an actual advantage. The Mitch soft screens are uselesss because he does not switch it up. Screens should be to give the ball handler an advantage. You throw in brush screens/slip screens when the defense overplays the normal screens. The problem is Mitch only does exclusively soft/slip screens.

If Mitch is passed the ball after the screen he is useless if there is not a direct open lane to dunk the ball. We don't even hit him on lobs after screens so that adds another layer of uselessness to them. Many of us has had problems with Mitch's screens for years.

Same as last time he got some court time

His legs are gone.

Y’all act like you never played ball at an advanced age, after sitting for a long time. 🤣

Looks like he hasn't had the legs whenever he's gotten in this year, though I know his time on the court has been limited. I've noticed it before. His injuries over the years have caught up with him.

I've loved having Rose on the team, and respect him more than when he played for other teams...But he's on a playoff team's roster. What if we actually needed him to play minutes because of injuries?

He's 34, and should be ready to play, if needed.

Just saying.

Noah had a party were ever he went. He did not have to go out.

New York’s defense smothered the Cavs, and it all started with the comedy duo in the paint.

“I think we were more physical, more ready to play,” Hartenstein said. “We played harder than the last game. Our guards did a great job keeping those guys in front of them. When Mitch was in, I thought he did a great job protecting the rim.”

When the Knicks are at their best, this is what they do. Head coach Tom Thibodeau’s ethos is rim protection. The team doesn’t just play 48 minutes of conventional centers. It also schemes to take away the rim first, second and third.

When Robinson or Hartenstein is doing it all by himself, things become easier. Guards can get more aggressive knowing either of the big guys will be there to wipe away a mistake.

“I feel like that with Mitch,” Immanuel Quickley said. “I even feel like that with (Isaiah). The way he affects shots — he’s real smart. He takes charges. And then Mitch, being the shot-blocker that he is, you can jump into your man a little bit, be a little bit more aggressive, try to go for steals, be a little bit more disruptive. And you’re sending him right to No. 23, so it helps out a lot.”

Read this thread to see just how disrespectful the Cavs was to our shooting. We have 1 reliabe shooter and we blow them out every time they try ths type of defense.

Mitch causing trouble down low.

Thibs noticed the Cavs don't trap guard to guard pnrs as much as they do guard/big pnrs. Being that not many of their guards are good defenders this creates problems for the Cavs. It wil be interesting to see if the Cavs will now trap more in this situation as another adjustment.

The defender went under the guard/guard screen and Brunson still had a step on him.

The second one Obi with a nice play. The Cavs did not trap the ball handler on the guard/big pnr. Maybe switchig up the types of screens confuses them.

Barrett’s shot was dropping today which is great, but he still looks slow footed. Something’s wrong with him. Fatigue. Something he had the open lane to the layup and got caught from behind with enough time for Garland to set in front of him. That’s dead legs.

Brunson came on and took the game over. That confidence wins this series for us. I called 4-1 and believe it after seeing Brunson tonight.

Knicks lack confidence in their shots. I love the extra pass but not the extra extra extra pass. Need to figure that out. Need to know who has the best shot and when.

IQ is valuable on and off the ball and so much on defense.

Our Centers finish like grade schoolers. No finesse. Allen and Mobley are taking them out of the game offensively but can’t get them out of the box. Knick Rebounds > Cav Rebounds.

I still love Donovan Mitchell. Right decision not to pay that price, but maybe someday he will be a Knick.

Today’s nba has become such a space and pace league that depth and collective athleticism of the roster now overcomes superstars. I’d rather have a roster of 10 good players then a roster of 1 superstar, 5 good players and the rest of the roster is mediocre and not athletic

Super proud of RJ! It was gut check time and he answered the call! We don't win this game without him! He was the only one who was hitting shots in that dreadful first half offensively. Loved how aggressive yet smart he played. He didn't just drive to the paint with no plan. And he got into the open court and had some momentum charging layups! And of course hitting threes were a bonus! Fingers crossed his shooting slump is over and he can keep this up! We need him!

Brunson took over the second half. Spida cannot guard him one on one! Nobody can! Watching him do this thing is so much fun! Also made some nice passes to Hartenstein for dunks. Randle shot poorly and it's concerning. They were his typical shots and a lot of them are wide open especially the threes. But the dunk over Allen was sick! He needs to knock those down! IQ played a lot better. Made some shots and played insanely tough defense on Garland. Rob dominated the glass! Push around and bullied Allen! Hope Grimes is OK but Hart brought his usual hustle and grit. Obi had a huge fourth quarter too! Those dunks are electric!

Game 4 will be tough. Expect the Cavs to adjust and play better. We got to be prepared! Going up 3-1 pretty much gives us the series. Tied 2-2 going back to Cleveland makes it a toss up!

Great video. Mitch really stepped up this entire season on defensive side if things.

Next steps add anything on other side. I think he has some room there.
