Rode Brunson too long. It was clear early on that his legs werent there. Team feeds off of his energy.

the wheels fell off early on this one

That is why I am not even stressing about refs. Refs don't matter if you shooting this poorly on mostly open 3's.

Kind of knew we were in big trouble when I saw that POS Tony Brothers was the zebra. This idiot has had it in for us since the 90s! Not going use him as a excuse but the game and fouls were not called even - 29 FT attemps to 20. Also hurts when we can't even make them. RJ especially was rattled in the fourth due to the lack of nocalls. You cannoylt hunt foul calls against Brothers cause he will make it worse for you.

Also knew we were in trouble when Randle couldn't play. That tells me the injury is serious cause Randle is a gamer and would play through pain. I think Obi did an okay job but we cannot win without our All-Star playing at a high level. Take an All-Star away from any team and they suffer.

Give the cHeat credit. Their supporting cast did their job. Spoelstra showed why he is the best coach in the league. Got Butler some easy buckets in the paint and crisp and simple swing passes for open threes. Vincent and Lowry outplayed Brunson - 38 points on 8 threes between them. I know Brunson's stat line wasn't too bad but his defense was awful and his lack of shooting killed us. Without Randle we beeded a Superman game from Brunson and he didn't have one.

Love has always been a Knicks killer and those threes and outlet passes swung momentum. That up and under from Martin was also huge.

Personally I'm going to take a step back and lower expectations. You cannot cheat experience or shooting. This team needs to use this series to learn as much as possible and get better for the future. We are not ready to be a ECF team just yet.

Realistically, the Heat are in the win now mode. That's why they got Love. We aren't. We still have a few years to go , to learn, to improve. You are absolutely right on everything you said

Disagree. With the talent we already have have on the roster, draft picks. We're one smart trade away from contending. This will have been a good taste of the playoffs for some of the younger players.

Knicks missed too many open shots. 12/20 on FT, 7/34 from 3 and those were open 3s. Heat were getting smoked in the paint, so they adjusted by clogging the paint and leaving us open for 3. We missed them and they turned those into outlets.

Rest of this playoffs:
Julius needs to wear High top sneakers.
RJ has to shoot at least 500 threes in the off days.
Thibs needs to enforce 3 passes required if there is no open shot, unless there is a serious matchup advantage.
Team overall: If you are not good at 3s, stop shooting them!

Offseason:
Mitch needs to shoot 1,000 free throws a day in the off season.
All the guards need to shoot at least 500 three pointers that are not from the corners(Knicks 3 pt shooting outside of the corners is very very bad).

Clean @ 4/30/2023 4:22 PM
Even if Randle comes back he will be limited because the paint is going to be clogged. Everything comes down to us hitting open 3's. It is a simple do or die moment. The Cavs could not do so now its our turn to see if we can.
technomaster @ 4/30/2023 4:28 PM
I think that's the main story of the game is the 3pt shooting. The Heat hit their 3s, we didn't. I thought I offense execution was reasonable - it's just that after swinging the ball around to the open man, we missed more often than not. At least half of our misses were nice clean looks. Any of those makes would have changed the complexion of the game. Brunson was the main offender (0-7 - certainly you'd expect at least a 2-7 night, right?).

RJ played about as well as you could have hoped for on both ends. He was forcing a bit on his drives (and the Heat were ready for them) in the 3rd and 4th quarters, but hey, someone needed to make things happen.

Thibs needs to run more plays and make things a little easier for his players. Then again, the Knicks really were swinging the ball around and getting open looks - the shots just weren't falling.

The Knicks did have some uncharacteristic turnovers. Each of them doing just a little bit to hurt us when we were trying to mount our comeback.

But Butler may be hampered too.

I could care less about her backstories...

Next time she's calling a game, I'm just gonna listen to the Chinese broadcast.

That's Gold, comedy Gold

Looking at social media and so many people are saying we got great look. Yes, we got open 3's by design since we can't hit them.
VDesai @ 4/30/2023 4:38 PM
That Gabe Vincent 4 pt play was a turning point. We were up double digits and they outplayed us after that shot.

Quickley and Grimes have not done enough this playoff. Yes Brunsob 0/7 from 3, but those 2 guys are our shooters and they have been ass in this playoff.

Obi did reasonably well but they forced him into 11 3 pt attempts. Only guy on the team that made them - but if 11 of our shots are Obi Toppin 3s, then the defense is executing against us.

technomaster @ 4/30/2023 5:25 PM
On the Butler turned ankle, I still don't understand how Hart got himself in the position to do that futbol-style yellow card move on Butler's feet.
SergioNYK @ 4/30/2023 5:30 PM
We have been a below average three point shooting team the entire season so what makes anyone think we are magically going to start shooting them well? It's just not our strength and won't change until we upgrade with different players.

BTW, someonw else needs to make the next game threads. I'm bad luck! LOL

He tried to flop but Brunson is the only decent flopper on our team.

If we increase our 3 point shooting we are a diff team. Mitch needs to learn to shoot free throws. I have said it for 3 years now

Agree... tough to win without shooters and unfortunately we don't have but one or two. If you look back at Riley's career, he's always had great shooters. Probably why they picked up Love...just another shooter.

Everyone missing completely wide open looks

Why is this surprising? We've been shooting bricks the entire season! It's not going to change either.

Knicks have Fournier on the bench whose a pretty good outside shooter

I know he isn’t a fan favorite but if Spo can find minutes for Duncan and start Love (two players whose defense is just has bad) I think Thibs can give Fournier a look out there.

It’s not like J. Hart was doing much out there anyway today

Chandler @ 4/30/2023 7:54 PM
Im very frustrated but not going to overreact

Feel we were asleep at the wheel too long on those super long home run outlets.

Also think the game got away from the refs a bit. They could have blown the whistle multiple times on every possession. Then when it would start to get out of whack they’d overreact and blow the whistle on a touch foul which made people crazy bexcause the possession before there were non whistles for more contact. I don’t think they were biased but i do think the inconsistency tilted in miamis favor

Knicks need to clean things up some, refs too

Knicks in 7

Really? You think Fournier is our answer to the Heat? Damn we are in trouble then
