I think the idea would be to pair the two of them together. After next season KAT's big deal kicks in so if they want to move him without taking big salaries back, now is the time.

Have you always hung out within his circle's? Don't know how any fan can claim anything personal about a player?

In terms of Kat. is Kat a great player? Absolutely. Would he be better than JR or MR? Maybe.
I have faith in this FO. No way they are looking to change the front court. Knick fans team building skills will fluctuate game to game depending on how one player played that game. This FO has been really good about understanding team building. As we saw with JHart, they are not just doing deals to make a splash but rather to fill voids. Right now we need a three a D wing. We need a high percentage three point shooting elite SG.

I am certainly falling into the cost/benefit approach to upgrading. Yes we can upgrade certain positions, but at what cost?

Brunson - I think he is solidifying himself as a top 10 PG. Yeah, he could be better on defense. But he couldn't have a better NY soul. Yeah, that's not a stat. But he has won me over.

SG - Ok. So here we have Grimes, IQ, Hart. Playoffs have sold me on Hart being the starter here. IQ and Grimes have disappeared offensively a bit in the playoffs and I am hoping they show up soon. Even without the offense, they have been really instrumental on D. I think the "max contract" for Quickley is questionable. I'm slotting IQ as backup PG and instant offense and Grimes as the SG off the bench. Let them have strong roles in the second unit. So, while an upgrade at SG is possible, I don't think you need more than the glue guy that Hart is.

SF. Barrett is a wildcard. I think with a strong offseason that cuts a little of the bulk and gets his legs under him. Clean up his shot, he takes the next step. We are seeing signs of that in the playoffs. You take that game in Cleveland where he got 13 free throw and have him make a couple more free throws and go 2 for 6 instead of 0 for 6 from 3? That guy has Jimmy Butler stats. Its possible someone wants his upside and can provide us with a more consistent player here. But, it comes down to - at what price? Are you trading RJ and picks for Butler? Leonard? Could turn out like the Raptors' Derozan trade.

PF - Randle. I am behind him 100%. I see so much of him now. So much of what he does is because he feels he needs to. And he might. Yeah he is taking some bad shots. But he is getting his shot off where some of our guys are dribbling the ball into the ground. The team needs more ball movement, but at some point they need to figure out how to shoot. I don't see a lot of upgrades worth the price.

C -- Robinson. Love my guy here. That said, there are upgrades available on offense. His offense is atrocious and is allowing the other team to stack the box. If there is any reason to look at a KAT trade it would be to spread the floor on offense. That said, dollar for dollar, I think Robinson is the man and I don't think it makes much sense. Can they get Mitch to do more on offense? I think they can. Otherwise, I think that improvement can be achieved through the draft.

Good take.
Im finding more joy from winning and acceptance by some of the limitations for now. RJ is what he is, and 22. Randle you get the good with the bad but he is willing to pass out more and sees the path to winning. He has concentration issues with emotions distracting him. He is not a max player and thus still a good value warts and all.
In all we have a very good core with yoot still on the rise, picks to trade or use, and cap friendly contracts.

With Boston and Philly beating each other up there is a path. THink Miami is not frothing at the mouth at it too?
