Their market value is no longer at a high. IQ has been knocked down. Suggesting to trade Randle is never realistic because you won’t get a player as good as him back. Plus he doesn’t miss many games and puts us in position to be a playoff team. He is very good in the regular season. We just need a team where he’s not relied as a second guy in the playoffs.

Yup, with or without Randle on the roster, we need another star. Enough of a sample size now to confirm this.

Draft that guy. Even giannis laid an egg in the playoffs

Giannis has been historically clutch, Randle hasnt, and he's pushing 30.

If we're moving Mitch, I want to see a player who can contritbute on offense and defense from day one. Look at the punishment Brunson takes every game he plays.

I still think its important to surround Brunson with talent before his body starts breaking down from all the hits he takes. We have good, young players, we need more veteran help IMO.

Knixkik @ 5/7/2023 9:27 AM
I still think Alex Caruso makes a lot of sense. He’s a great defender and can shoot.

I like Caruso, but I think I'd rather just give those developmental minutes to Grimes. I think what we really need is our own lite versions of Jared Vanderbilt or Jaden McDaniel.

Jadens brother Jalen is a free agent this summer. But it doesn’t address the shooting issues.

Knixkik @ 5/7/2023 2:37 PM
Knicks have 3 needs:
Star scorer who can share top duties with Brunson and knock Randle down to #3
Big wing defender
Elite shooter

Knicks don’t have the rotation spots to address each individually so they need to find players who fill multiple of those needs. Someone like Caruso provides a wing defender who can also shoot. Someone like Anunoby does the same on a higher level. Someone like LaVine provides the top tier offense plus elite shooting. If the Knicks put out a closing lineup of Brunson, LaVine, Hart, Randle and Mitch, I actually have fairly strong confidence the Knicks can beat a team like Miami. Grimes may still start but Hart is the closer and will play starters minutes. I keep going back to LaVine because of the shooting, overall offense, age being under 30, fairly good health in recent years, and the contract (although expensive) already locked in. He’s not the answer to this original thread but I think a team that lacks shooting and offensive efficiency in the playoffs could really use him. With individual defenders like Robinson, Hartenstein up front, and Hart, Grimes, Quickley and McBride on the wing and backcourt, I’m really not concerned about the defense as much despite what the regular season numbers suggest that this team is better offensively than on defense.

ramtour420 @ 5/7/2023 7:53 PM
Only a select few All-Stars provide what Josh Hart does with better shooting

While it is true IQ’s value probably has taken a hit from him being exposed in this year’s playoffs overall it’s still fairly high. We probably could get a top 15 first in this year’s draft for him even now

Except Randle has done nothing but lay eggs in the playoffs except for game 1 of the Cleveland series

Agreed, but why would we want to ? We are in win-now mode and he’s a young, homegrown talent.

I love this. And this is why yall are not NBA GMs.
OG is worth several picks, and y'all want to do that. Chicago wants multiple picks for Caruso.
But yeah, IQ is worth a single "top 15" pick after a great year and a let down in the playoffs.
How did OG play in the playoffs?
How did Caruso do?
Oh right, they sitting home in they undawears.

Keep buying high, selling low, PhilC.

The $90 million IQ extension will be the next debacle skippy

This issue is starting and playing Hart and RJ together. Can't have both your wings being poor three point shooters.

Starting Hart against Butler makes zero sense considering we are sending a double team every time he catches the ball!

I agree about the shooting. The solution in my mind would be replacing Barrett with either Anunoby or LaVine via trade. You’re adding shooting and elite defense with Anunoby (but still relying on Randle as a main shot creator) or adding shooting and elite scoring with LaVine (which knocks Randle down to a more complimentary scoring role) but putting more pressure on Hart/ Grimes as defenders.

I wouldnt call suffocating Mobely and cleaning the glass laying an egg. Despite the poor shooting Randle was really important in that series.

Bottom line is Randle incredibly important and there's reasons the coaching staff leans so much on. Its also clear he needs to be the 3rd option because when he's facilitating more and being selective his game elevates.

25/10 all star guy who never misses games, cleans the glass and is a wrecking ball in the paint.

Why in gods name would you trade IQ.. he's like the most ascending player we have

Randle is important but I think Obi is ready to step in and be the full time PF next season. He will be auditioning for a contract and will be a double double machine. The time to trade Randle for assets will be this summer

Even the biggest Randle ballwashers have to admit he has mostly underperformed in the playoffs. He was great in game 1 vs Cleveland that I’ll give you but he has not been good in any other playoff games ever. I want to win a championship I’m sorry guys, just making the playoffs is not enough for me

Mikal Bridges. Offer IQ, RJ, Obi & maybe a first rounder (Dallas). Too much to give up. Whatever get's it done.

When you gonna take a minute to realize how hurt Randle may be or just continue to be ignorant of it? At this point you are kinda just leaning into that ignorance tbh
