My guess would be for a very good role player. As well as picks, maybe cap space. To a contender that needs depth.

I’d be looking at guys like Porter Jr, Kuzma, Miles Bridges (if his legal situation is resolved) —— some young 4’s that we can play real offense with —- though we need a long defender as well.

I don’t know.

LMAO. A Sprained ankle later and the jackals are back to 2021 summer. Do any of you truly believe that is the way a professional FO rationalize things??

Dude the entire world is watching in front of their eyes — can’t help you if you can’t seethe dogging/quitting and piss-poor decision making. My trade ideas are simply for fun - don’t think I’ll be the one executing trades.

Any fool defending Randle after watching that should be packaged with Julius when we trade him for Booker/Durant

Any fool who blames solely Randle for costing us the season is a moron.
Including the quoted Twit.

The fan who is a fool may want to look at the Knicks overall shooting percentage to buy a clue as to why we are down in the series.

Who is solely blaming Randle - I’m down for shipping some other guys out as well….I’ll start with Mitch. LOL

Problem is, as always, who is the replacement for anyone we want out?
How much does that new player make? What assets will we have to give up?

Some here suggesting Kat for Randle. $50m vs $22m and what assets we giving up?
Kat had better pieces around him, yet they did what?
Mitch is a defensive Center. One of the best in the league. Do I want someone who can hit a foul shot? Sure. But who that is better offensively gets us the same on defense. Some admiring IJart on here yet no complains about his lack of offense.

My point is that if we had wings that contributed positively, to our three point shooting, this series would be over. With us winning it.
Our good year came from Randle and JB playing like All Stars. But also because IQ, Grimes, Harts and our bench had stellar years. Yes Randle and JB have not been as good in the playoffs. Both have bum ankles. Bit also because, in the playoffs, teams will focus on stopping your main players. But that's why it's important to have other pieces in place that can step up and play well. Everyone besides Randle and JB have played poorly. You look at Miami and several guys have stepped in and played well.
Side note, the other punching bag (RJ) has proven haters wrong. Kid has played well.

Agree on RJ —- in the playoffs he has proven to be for more reliable/consistent with sound decision making throughout. Issue would be if no Julius and RJ regular season performance we’d probably been 10th/11th seed.

I'd be happy with either Bridges, obviously prefer Mikal given the magic with JB & Hart.

But - he is a restricted FA. Does Charlotte want to keep him? Is there a S&T we can make that makes sense? Fournier, Obi & some draft capital sure would be an upgrade.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/14/sport/nba...

Was thinking Charlotte (Jordan) might consider a Randle for Bridges type trade. Maybe Fournier/Heywood types added to make #s work.

I've always thought that Obi would be great on Charlotte team. Pair him with LaMelo and watch them run and fly.

Yep and no D required. LOL

Obi be like “that fits me like a perfectly sized glove”

Trade one play when he wants player for another package Randle for KAT I don’t think Minny says no I think the question is do the Knicks say no.

You can either move or not —- pain isn’t dependent on offense/defense —- so silly the injury excuses.

Exactly. Randle’s ankle and mobility seem fine when hes got the ball and we are in ISO for him. Plus his poor defense this series I don’t think is necessarily even due to lack of effort it’s just mostly mental mistakes like when tries for the steal on adebayo on the perimeter instead of simply staying in front of him and closing out

Not a huge KAT guy but Randle and IQ for him I’d do. Maybe a change of scenery elevates his game

I’m not a huge fan either but RJ is an example of emotional maturity. Randle is a better player skill wise but his emotions usually get the best of him and it impacts his game and his impact on others with his body language. What I like about RJ is you never know if he’s having a good day or bad day. We need that from our leader.

SergioNYK @ 5/10/2023 8:57 AM
What couldn't happen was a repeat of the Hawks series for Randle and that's pretty much what has happened. Poor shooting, low motor, depressed body language, stupid postgame comments. A change of scenery would be best for both sides.

I'm not a KAT fan either but I'd make that trade if it were possible.

Listened to Hahn and Barton and was really disapointed in the parroting of things I heard. Really blaming Randle for like everything.
The focus of him not coming up big in the playoffs and thus forget the regular season ever existed?
Or his lateral motion might be compromised?
Indict his whole knick career on a half dozen dogged plays? I agree its a bad look but the whole career?
He played 13 playoff games. We did win a series with him coming back from injury.
The tone is often its his fault and not enough credence to Heats excellence and that Lowrey who did shit all season is healthy.
Like the whole 47 wins and feel good season with a series win and the whole thing is ruined by Randle as if none of his allstar season mattered.
And we wonder why players don’t come to NY?

We don’t get to this point in May without Julius Randle. Does that not resonate with fans? He is like the 50th best paid player in the league. He has limitations. We know this. Brunson is the team leader. Who said Jules is the defacto leader of the team? He is a dude with faults. Not saying we keep him forever or that he is our championship kind of guy. He is not.
My hope is the team grows around him and perhaps with him
Radio dudes saying “we need a super star”. No shit.

Poor motor and effort is not tolerated in the playoffs, especially in a 'must win' game. And the ankle cannot be used as an excuse when we've seen Randle run up the court and dunk. The postgame comments about not wanting it as bad as Miami also is not a good look.

I appreciate Randle's effort during the regular season and you're correct, we do not get here without him but he's worn out his welcome here imo. That's two straight playoffs he's decline dramatically. He is currently the worst playoff performer in NBA history. It would be best for everyone if he just went somewhere else this offseason. It's not going to end well here.

On the contrary, when Randle sat at the end of the season we actually played more team oriented ball with better passing and fast breaks. Had some nice wins where Obi stepped up. The only stinker was the last game of the season

ramtour420 @ 5/10/2023 9:51 AM
He is only the worst in the playoffs. Other than that he is an All-Star
Nalod @ 5/10/2023 11:48 AM
worst current active player. In history? Not sure about that. 13 game sample.
We talking efficiency?
worn out his welcome?
Yes, Nalod is happy to be here and we don't do it without him. Yes Im sad it comes to an end, but unless your measuring REAL alternatives what are our choices?

this thread and these narratives suck. Randle destroyed NBA all defensive guy Mobley and Mitch practically won the Cle series himself. Those two have been terrible in the Heat series.

Celtics core have been together 6 years. Phili has never made it past the 2nd round in the Embiid era. Most people here thought the Knicks were a play in team this year. Now its "move on from Randle and Mitch cause they arent winning us a title"

We have a flawed roster with flawed players. When its not going well it's gonna look bad. Pretty wild change in attitude since the Cle series from the fan base. I get it. As far as the players and who stays/goes I trust the FO to make the right moves. Everyone gets on Randle for what he doesnt do. I get it... but it's what he does do that puts him in that position. 25/10 guys who also pass the ball and never miss games are hard to replace. Its not "enabling" its working with what we have.

Nothing to do with owning a Randle jersey.

Its not so much Randle, but the role he has on the team. I dont believe its hyperbole to state that Randle historically has not been a clutch player. Does not play well in the 4th. Has not been a good playoff performer. Bad would be an accurate decription.

If Jules was 22-23, sure give him time to figure things out. But Randle has been playing for almost a decade now. Almost 30.

I believe the crux of the problem is Randle's role in the offense. You cant have a second option who is as unreliable as Randle has been. Not if the Knicks want to contend.

As its been said. When Jules was talking about the team not wanting it enough. He was really talking about just himself. Randle is strong but not mentally tough. You have as much riding as the Knicks do, on Randle not folding when it matters. I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

The Knicks cant contend on his gaudy stats alone. Its also about when he fills up a stat sheet.

If Randle stays it better be with another star ahead of him as a scoring option. Enough of a sample size to believe its necessary.

As for Mitch, if he stays, Brunson needs to spend part of the offseason working on a two man game. Might be the worst chemistry between a starting PG and Center. They need to put in the time to make it work.

And practice those fing free throws.

Are you sure that he is self aware enough to be talking about himself here? He could just as well be deflecting blame to the rest of the team. He could also hold the opinion that other than himself, there isn't enough talent on the team and he wouldn't be completely wrong. The Knicks need to keep making the playoffs and Randle gets us there. He might be a head case, but he is our head case. I don't see any drastic changes on the horizon. I just hope exit interviews aren't - 'sorry Julius, we will surround you with better talent next year.'

100% that comment was a knock on the centers. I am not committed to Randle any more than any other players.

Basically I just keep hearing Randle isnt a good first or second option and we have kinda known that for years and have been trying improve that. Brunson has helped. We still have more needs. 5th seed team.

Nalod @ 5/10/2023 2:15 PM
Randle came as a free agent and is on a good contract that can be moved.
He cost us nothing. We trade him straight up we still win the trade. We did not draft him, and nor trade for him.
If you chanted "MVP" when he is on a tear, then you the fan built him into something bigger.
He was flawed when he walked in the door but improved. Not to superstar status. He is not paid like one either.
