Knicks · Julius Randle is the worst…… (page 3)

Nalod @ 5/9/2023 12:01 PM
I think Randle as part of a bigger trade makes sense. IM sure we all have great and better ideas the morning after but reality is every GM knows the good, the bad, and the ugly with him.
For now, We got Obi and he did not step up. They have Jimmy, Bam and a rejuvenated Lowrey who is more spry at the moment then Brunson. Jimmy is better than any of our wings, and Bam is no doubt better than our bigs/Randle.
Blame they are better team for now.
MS @ 5/9/2023 12:03 PM
I think we saw the difference in the press conferences.

Julius awful body language, says maybe they wanted it more and just didn’t seem to care. That sets a tone for the game.

Brunson, played very well and still accepted responsibility.

Leaders lead.

Randle looked crushed and beaten.
What does EF (salary), Randle, IQ, and two picks get you?
Mitch also?
Three starters and two picks for Luka?
start ihart. need more help obviously. but a core:

Bruns
Luka
StarJay
Obi
iHart.
I give 4 years 60mil to Josh.

Any fool defending Randle after watching that should be packaged with Julius when we trade him for Booker/Durant

Any fool who blames solely Randle for costing us the season is a moron.
Including the quoted Twit.

The fan who is a fool may want to look at the Knicks overall shooting percentage to buy a clue as to why we are down in the series.

Who is solely blaming Randle - I’m down for shipping some other guys out as well….I’ll start with Mitch. LOL

My guess would be for a very good role player. As well as picks, maybe cap space. To a contender that needs depth.

I’d be looking at guys like Porter Jr, Kuzma, Miles Bridges (if his legal situation is resolved) —— some young 4’s that we can play real offense with —- though we need a long defender as well.

I don’t know.

I'd be happy with either Bridges, obviously prefer Mikal given the magic with JB & Hart.

But - he is a restricted FA. Does Charlotte want to keep him? Is there a S&T we can make that makes sense? Fournier, Obi & some draft capital sure would be an upgrade.

Was thinking Charlotte (Jordan) might consider a Randle for Bridges type trade. Maybe Fournier/Heywood types added to make #s work.

Not a KAT fan because he just seems ultra soft but I do think there is some small smoke regarding KAT to NY.

Would think it might need to be something like Randle/IQ for KAT and I like K-Anderson personally

I've always thought that Obi would be great on Charlotte team. Pair him with LaMelo and watch them run and fly.

Serious question for hof. Has Randle done anything wrong since he’s been a knick? Seems like whenever a fan calls him out you are quick to protect him which is cool. So I’m just asking in your eyes has Randle met your expectations as a knick?

Chandler @ 5/9/2023 2:53 PM

some perspective

tatum/brown
embid/harden
butler/bam

lebron/AD
steph/klay

jokic/murray

We have squeezed a lot of juice out of the randle/brunson combo. Do i wish he were better (brunson too). Yes but let's not vilify him.

is he (and brunson) still ascending? i'd like to say yes. some of those other guys on the list are probably starting to decline

let's hope he improves (eg quicker decisions, less sticky with the ball). Let's also hope we continue to add and develop talent. this series has a different complexion if one of IQ, Obi, or Grimes contributed in any material way -- each of these guys has the ability to stretch the floor and make it easier for our drivers/slashers and instead they've been largely sucking ass

For me, he has exceeded my expectations. Especially after his first season here.
From here Im on the fence about him.

So basically worse than Dallas had?

If you are going to make a drastic change and add a superstar. (Btw Luka ain't coming. Especially to that lineup). At least give him some players that can shoot and don't stop the ball movement. Luka holds the ball A LOT. JB holds it a lot and is more of a ball heavy PG than shooting offensive distributor. RJ pounds the rock a lot as well and can't shoot. JHart can't shoot. IHart won't get you past the second round as main center. This lineup would be hard to watch.

Don't want to go back to Melo era where our superstar had nothing around him.

Problem is, as always, who is the replacement for anyone we want out?
How much does that new player make? What assets will we have to give up?

Some here suggesting Kat for Randle. $50m vs $22m and what assets we giving up?
Kat had better pieces around him, yet they did what?
Mitch is a defensive Center. One of the best in the league. Do I want someone who can hit a foul shot? Sure. But who that is better offensively gets us the same on defense. Some admiring IJart on here yet no complains about his lack of offense.

My point is that if we had wings that contributed positively, to our three point shooting, this series would be over. With us winning it.
Our good year came from Randle and JB playing like All Stars. But also because IQ, Grimes, Harts and our bench had stellar years. Yes Randle and JB have not been as good in the playoffs. Both have bum ankles. Bit also because, in the playoffs, teams will focus on stopping your main players. But that's why it's important to have other pieces in place that can step up and play well. Everyone besides Randle and JB have played poorly. You look at Miami and several guys have stepped in and played well.
Side note, the other punching bag (RJ) has proven haters wrong. Kid has played well.

He has far exceeded expectations- I agree. Now when can we trade him because think we’ve seen enough meltdowns and dogging it to know what happens if we get back here again.

Was thinking in entire NBA playoffs- what other player has completely just taken possessions off and chosen when to hustle back or at all? Talking this year.
