Knicks · Brunson, exceeded all expectations (page 1)

From a leadership perspective and balling perspective; just fantastic having him on the squad

Hope he continues to shine

BigDaddyG @ 5/10/2023 12:56 PM
Yep, I think everyone is pleased with the signing. A definitive building block. I think the question is what's next? I like the idealized versio of Grimes next to him in the backcourt. But he still needs some developing. Will the FO have the patience to wait it out? Is playoff RJ the RJ we will see going forward? Enough has been said about Randle the past few days, so I won't go there. This is an exciting and precarious time for the franchise going forward.

fucking yellow dumbass.

Brunson has been fantastic. 26 year old building block guy. I think he's our Lowry. I would be totally comfortable running this team back and resigning Josh Hart. Bank on seeing internal development. The centers are both young. RJ/Grimes/IQ/Obi/McBride are all guys who you hope to level and keep building chemistry

For me, different version of Steve Nash but same deal. Less passing ability but much better footwork, mid range, high post player. Maybe not as top level a shooter but only a whisker behind.

I mean Nash would be incredible. Nash didnt have his monster assist seasons till he was 30 and out of Dallas.

I guess by Lowry that guy who gets you that next level. That 45-50 win zone. He's just so dependable and such a good closer and EFF% player. No reason to think Brunson isnt going to continue to improve and add wrinkles and keep working. Expecting it may not be fair. We will see. Either way an absolute gem

We need another jumbo wing that can play defense, rangy, and can reasonably hit the 3. Ideally put the ball on the floor a bit..

He’s a young-ish franchise cornerstone in every way possible. It’s been a long time. It’s great to see.

We need that, but we also need another supreme creator of the dribble. And Trayce Davis Jackson, apparently. And more Jessica Alba appearances. And a Bot that's more reliable than Todd. And some futuristic titanium ankle inserts for our players. Personally, I need a magic drawer that makes socks appear out of thin air. And probably something harder than Miller High Life by the time this game is done. Am I missing something?

We need LaVine or someone like him. LaVine can shoot from the outside and create offense. He’s big enough and plays average D when engaged. Barrett, Toppin, and picks.

Grimes doesn’t create any offense and I don’t see any indication that he’s more than a 3&D guy at this point. He hasn’t even shown flashes of it.

Nah - not RJ after what he’s showing in playoffs.

But agree LaVine type (someone who can explode and be efficient in tough spots) really is needed.

Maybe it’s IQ/Obi for LaVine with Deuce getting back-up PG minutes are signing a solid vet PG to replace IQ.

You sir are correct indeed

franco12 @ 5/11/2023 6:52 AM
I had high expectations for Brunson. I knew he would perform at a high level. But yes, I think he's exceeded mine.

Seeing him and Hart and the winning effort they play with makes me want Mikal Bridges because that would be an all time story of players winning it at the college level, and then teaming up at the NBA level to win it all.

And the person or people that exceeded all expectations- the FO. Because they haven't panicked one time and they added Hart who took us to another level, and I don't think anyone on the board had that move on our radar.

If we can stay healthy and get a bit of luck, I think this FO can put a squad out there with a legit chance to win it all.

Nalod @ 5/11/2023 7:27 AM
Randle also has exceeded expectations given who he was when we signed him.
Two time allstar,, two time All NBA. He is 45th highest player in the league.
He infuriates us sometimes. But he is family.

Really? Not for me, I see flashes of it all the time.

Grimes has decent burst past players and has made passes to cutting players and those around him on way to basket all the time IMO

That's not his role right now nor what has been asked of him. I think he has a ton of potential to score and in a variety of ways.
