Knicks · Thibs is getting circled (page 1)

homeskillitprigioni @ 5/11/2023 11:37 AM
There is definitely a distinct advantage the Heat have with just coaching itself. They can work a wide open 3 on almost every single possession if they want to. Nothing comes easy for us and we have to make a lot of difficult shots.

It's tough to understand why there are no adjustments whatsoever. We pretty much only won the game last night because they missed a lot of those open 3's.

They have guys like Duncan Robinson who literally the only thing he can do is shoot open 3's...and we let him do it over and over again. It's so hard to comprehend.

You can also see some of the more creative cuts and handoffs and screens they use to get themselves better looks or driving lanes. We don't see a lot of that. I believe we have more talent than they do but they're the better team with the better coach.

It's a big problem, especially when we don't have a top 5 player and we have a #2 that feels like he's given up at times in Julius. We're closer than we have been in so long but I don't know if we can take that next step with Thibs here. I do believe that if you flipped coaches, we'd be the ones winning this series.

Heat been in the conference finals 2x in the last 3 years. Finals 2 years ago, game 7 vs. Boston last year. They totally took apart the Bucks. Honestly have some respect. Your take away is Thibs is lost?

Watch the games. Heat have 2 stars. They have a washed up 3rd guy who's done nothing but hit big shots and make plays. They have excellent role players. Your like the 4th poster who's state we should be beating the Heat, we cant do anything, Thibs sucks, Randle sucks, bla bla bla

Wake up fans. Knicks are down 3-2 to a proven playoff commodity in round 2 in a season most thought we MIGHT make the play in and be .500

I think Thibs can develop players but schematically he's getting worked, dude. I don't know how you can watch this series and not see that.

I would tell you to watch the games. They can literally get a wide open 3 at will on way too many possessions. Do you think we get as many easy buckets and clean looks as they do? We're forced to take more difficult shots and everything comes harder for us. It's so easy to see. And they're not more talented than us, but they're smarter and they know what to do with the ball.

For me it's the total lack of adjustments. They're getting the same open shots they did earlier in the series. We won last night because they missed more of those wide open 3's than they normally do. We can't take the next 2 games like that, more of those are going to fall in if we're not contesting them but I don't see any evidence that we're going to be able to do that.

Let's stay a little classy. Don't want to sound like those cornfed, snot licking rubes in Cleveland who keep going on about how they had the better team. It's like Giannis says, it's not failure if we lose. It's just another step on the path to success.

Nalod @ 5/11/2023 1:10 PM
heat success is not about the long ball. They were 18th in regular season vs knicks 12th.
They been doing better in the playoffs.

If we are forcing the them to shoot more threes, then they are not succeeding inside?
Teams that get hot from the long ball often win. Its just is the rule of the jungle.

Obviously the problems start with two time COY Thibs and All NBA Randle.

Spo is a hall of fame level coach but you're reaching to make an Anti-Thibs argument that really isn't there. For instance I can reverse your point and say that Knicks have also had many open 3s and missed open 3's in games 1 and 4 probably cost them those games. Not sure how people can look at this series and say, my god we just won against a team that has a HoF coach, has a number of seasoned vets with championship or deep playoff experience, was in the finals 2 years ago and the Conference finals last year and took down the Bucks in 5 this year....and say..."my god we suck!"

We know Thibs is better at game to game adjustments vs in game adjustments.

That you can break a franchise 3pt record one season, and spend the following season healthy, and on the bench. When you're on the outs with Thibs, you're really out.

Players notice these things just like fans do. Nobody wants to be buried on the bench for the better part of a season, after a rough start. Including the playoffs. I dont believe its strategically sound, or a good way to recruit veteran FAs.

As I said much earlier in the season. I hope the FO looks back on how things went (in detail) if they see some good candidates out there, interview them. If they still believe Thibs is the best choice, Im good with that as a fan.

We have Budenholzer and Nurse without a job right now. If there was ever a time to test the waters, see how they might do things differently. This would be the summer. Normally dont have such great candidates available.

I think Gustav's modus operandi is the grass is always greener on the other side. Trade everyone, fire everyone. More instant gratification rather than evolve to success.

Hey it worked wonders in LA when they went out and got Kawhi and George for a gajillion dollars, and fired Doc (who may be on his way to ECF) to get Lue

I see your 10000 and raise another 10000!

Heat hit 3s... Thibs outcoached
Heat miss 3s... we only win because they missed open shots
Knicks miss open 3s... Spoel is a genius
Knicks hit 3s... about fucking time

I think I got it

that was pretty friggin funny

you forgot to mention how stepping on guys ankles and moving screens are genius too

That you can break a franchise 3pt record one season, and spend the following season healthy, and on the bench. When your're on the outs with Thibs, you're really out.

Normally dont have such great candidates available.

sorry... did you just saying Thib's burying of Fournier is a bad look for free agents?

Did I stutter? Not stars, role players.

how the fuck should I know if you stutter

Because you couldnt read my post without asking that question.

Because what you said literally makes zero sense and everyone is flabbergasted you'd actually type those things out, that'd be my guess.

My MO is wanting the FO to never stop trying to improve the team. Waiting 50 plus years for another title. No instant gratification here.

I suggest the FO interviews 2 championship winning coaches, and you have a problem with that. Agree to disagree.
