Is UFA and shot 44% from 3 last year. We need three point shooters who can come off the bench

“Yuta” mentioned this before. He is 6-8 SF.
How do you see him in the rotation? Besides shooting, what else does he do well if his shot is not falling?
Providing we run the whole roster back (unlikeluy), JHart subs for Barrett.
Im assuming you see him as a rotation guy?
“Yuta” man!!!

fishmike @ 5/12/2023 8:56 AM
Fournier is a shooter
NYKBocker @ 5/12/2023 9:02 AM
We need shooters period. If thibs can make obi a decent defender then he can make anyone a decent defender if the work ethic is there
NYKBocker @ 5/12/2023 9:03 AM
I mean look at strus. That guy would be booed here since he is a limited arsehole
Knixkik @ 5/12/2023 9:06 AM
Watanabe has a decent defensive rep as a long limbed disrupter. Not sure if the numbers back it up. He could be a useful backup 3/4 and fill Toppins 14 mpg, but I would aim higher if we replace Toppin. Watanabe would be a nice end of bench piece though for sure.

Strus seems to have a little more fire than a guy like Fournier though. feels like he mixes it up more.

Obi just started proving himself on the big stage. Build on it, don't bail on it.

Yuta is a SF. Burks is a Guard. Signing both has no effect on obi’s spot in the rotation

Maybe he won't be in the rotation. So what, great teams have vets like that with skills sets when needed Great teams load up on these type of players. Sign me up.

Yuta made a good point if you said this earlier!

Seems to play with energy on defense, but can get bumped off easily. Could do worse for a deep reserve.
Alpha1971 @ 5/13/2023 1:38 PM
Best thing about Watanabe is his enthusiasm and support of his teammates. Play or not watch him cheering and smiling on the bench

I like his length and size as a bigger 3.

Good point - I mean I was impressed with this kid when he was playing off of Durant/Kyrie but man all those Net role players from Yuta to O’Neal, to Harris, to Claxton, to Finley Smith all looked pretty sucky without Durant,Kyrie or Luka next to them —- was Yuta hurt down the stretch because I don’t remember seeing him?

Thing is Miami has constant movement which free’s guys like Strus —- we stand around playing iso so So Strus might look crappy here and Fournier might have killed us playing with Heat.

Basically saying we need to spruce this offense up in terms of movement—— 2 guys that negate that shift are Randle/Mitch

I recall a game the Knicks played at home when Founier was with the Magic and he killed us. He looked like version of Klay Thompson out there. The game was nip and tuck most of the second half…I thought after that game Fournier was an elite shooter and decent scorer….this was the version the Celtics thought they were getting when they traded for him…..

Now he doesn’t even play because the coach sees him as unplayable because of his defense…if Spo had Founier on his bench folks would be thinking he is Reggie Miller out there dropping 3’s on us…

Fournier would have absolutely destroyed our 3 point d if he played for the Heat. He can actually shoot off the move. If he was coming off of picks? He would have broken the Heat 3 point total for the season.

And yet thru the regular season we won 47 games. The team soared when EF went to the bench.
Losing 4 of six to the same team does change perceptions.
Now we fans are fixated on the series and the deficiencies from those losses and desire to rebuild to beat the Heat.
I suppose Cavs fans are signing they need to be tougher and break up their back court in resopnse to the whooping we delivered upon them.
