Knicks · Thibs at the Combine. What's the Plan? (page 1)

Tried to edit. First choice is buy a 2nd round pick.
BigDaddyG @ 5/19/2023 10:47 PM
I voted make no moves unless the staff sees someone who pops. Could just be looking for the next round of two-ways guys.
Alpha1971 @ 5/20/2023 8:14 AM
Trade Obi for first ? Several teams have multiple firsts rounders this draft and may not want to add all of them to the roster. Portland for one has our pick and Holiday as a FA and may look to replace him. They can draft a stud in the lottery and give us a late first rounder for Obi and a matching contract ( if needed, don't know their salary cap situation ) and Bam two lottery picks in one night. Then we pick up BPA and develop him. We then sign a back up 3/4 with the MLE or make another trade perhaps for a vet sniper like Bojan Bogdovic from Detroit for Evan and a protected first. We lose a first rounder in the Detroit trade but get one back trading Obi. Use the MLE to add to the team depth. Plus we have Isaiah Robey to trade for a you g player in his salary range or to use as well as Obis replacement behind Randall

Knicks buy a second. Especially with the third 2-way spot.
LivingLegend @ 5/20/2023 8:55 AM
Looking for next IQ, Grimes or Deuce in late 1st or early 2nd I would assume.

Maybe a Perrin pick - somebody Walt says will stick ‘ play the right way.

Above or Thibs just loading up on Chicago pizza.

Buy a second round pick.
Jimbo5 @ 5/21/2023 2:44 AM
Who are the teams with 3 or more picks(for both 1st and 2nd round) and what are those picks? What picks can the knicks realistically get?
EwingsGlass @ 5/21/2023 6:36 AM
I marked down make new moves specifically as it relates to the first round. I think this is proper diligence. They certainly have assets to move if there is a player that moves the needle for them, but I would assume we are just looking at 2nd rd opportunities to buy a pick or undrafteds.
Jimbo5 @ 5/21/2023 7:20 AM
They can just do nothing outside picking up an undrafted player to cover the 3rd 2-way player. They still has Rokas as a potential rookie as well as Isaiah Roby. If they have some move planned for the offseason that will weaken the bench depth, these two players might be able to step in and serve as energy guys off the bench.

Be prepared. That is their plan.

There will be good players that don't get drafted. For once, we have an attractive organization that might sell guys on us vs. someone else.

And, who knows what kind of trades the organization has in mind, but if it involves a draft pick this year, they have to know what they can do with it, or the kinds of players they want selected when the draft happens and the trade is either announced after or shortly after.

Due diligence. It’s definitely possible we get a late first/early second in a trade this summer
Swishfm3 @ 5/22/2023 12:01 AM
Hopefully he’s there looking for a new job

they will have like 4-5 guys they love on the radar. Teams like Pacers have tons of picks late all over the place. Other teams have packed rosters. Knicks also have cash. Pacers have 26, 29 and 32 for example.

I would also be good with running it back WITH Rose/Fournier's expiring deals and Rokus to compete with McBride for 10th spot. I love how young we are we should stock the cupboard for when something shakes loose

Don’t the Pacers have 3 or 4 picks?

So pacers have all those picks with an interest in Obi and according to rumors, looking to dump Duarte? Looks like a match to me.

Glad we have a competent FO to make the right move(s).
