Knicks · holy crap CP3 getting waived? (page 2)

His family with school aged kids lives in LA.

If they can bring him back and save 18mil, they do it.
I assume what ever it is this is just part of orchestration.
perhaps there was a thought the could make a run this year. After all:

Booker
Durant
CP3
Ayton........

Not bad on paper. its did not come together. Monty and Ayton are not buds also. Vogel is now there.
odds are he returns now. Monty is a fine coach but he failed to engage Ayton well. Not sure where the blame is. But they moved on. I assume since detroit is paying more PHX owes him nothing.

While we there, is there anything dumber than Lebron to Dallas? Media word salad. Lebron team went to conf. finals, they have moves to make, he makes 47.5mil and his kid commited to USC so he can get to games and watch his kid. Lebron is a dad. Basketball wise, he needs the ball, he is good at it. Kyrie needs the ball, and that Doncic fella is pretty good to. but they all need the ball.

Lets just say at 30mil CP3 was not returning to PHX. He gets his 15mil and they an pay him a bit more if he wants to be there. If not, he'll have choices. My assumption its all been decided but optics matter.

Could be good for Grimes,Deuce and IQ if true. Don't see him playing much during the regular season, but his experience would be invaluable.

Pass.

I don't believe CP3 will want to play for the Knicks, if the plan is to effectively keep him on ice until the playoffs. He might be OK with being the backup PG, and sometimes SG.

Brunson is an All-Star caliber PG, so there's no embarrassment playing a supporting role. If Paul was signed, IQ might be a goner. Wherever Paul was slotted, there probably wouldn't be enough minutes for IQ and Grimes. Doubt IQ wants to stay as a backup 2.

GustavBahler @ 6/9/2023 10:55 PM
I don't know if it would be doable, but it would be interesting to bring in CP3 and Dame as the backup PG and SG.

Sign CP3, and trade IQ and Obi in a package for Lillard. We would need Grimes D as a starter. Then see if KP would take a discount to return to NY, and a star studded roster.

That wouldn’t be his role though.

CP3 would obviously be a backup PG type who’d play next to IQ to help alleviate some of that pressure.

If the Knicks had some of the other parts straightened out in their main rotation and you could add a guy like CP3 to join the bench on say a 2 year MLE type deal, I’d think about it for a long time.

KnickDanger @ 6/10/2023 9:06 AM
More silly talk.
Nalod @ 6/10/2023 9:28 AM
If you trading IQ and some how our depth is compromised after we went all in on some deal, then yeah, CP3 might have a prominent role here.
As currently constructed I don't see it.
The mans wife and kids are in LA. PHX is a short distance and the two LA teams might be down for it.
gradyandrew @ 6/10/2023 8:19 PM
Doesn't the vet mentor role already belong to Derrick Rose?
SupremeCommander @ 6/10/2023 11:17 PM
I personally don’t see a fit here, unless the Knicks are going to make other changes

Backup pg to Brunson. Doubt he has any interest in coming here though.
