I think they had to actually make the NYK pick to comply with Stepien rule.

Makes sense. How long donyhe Knicks need to keep his righys before he's moved?

Literally just have to make the pick.

Sucks but I get it. It's all about having as much money available for Hartenstein. Expecting more draft and stash type selections tomorrow.

But Dadiet cannot be as bad as Ntilikina, can he?

I didn't, cause I knew this would happen. Only exception was that I made the statement the KNICKS would not draft Dunn cause his offense is poor. Anyway it's all worth it if we keep I Hart.

Fwiw dadiet was supposedly on celts radar at 30. Some more validation of the merits

Also makes sense because he can watch and learn for a while if not stashed or even post stash

That okc pick at 26 took some nads! I don’t know if he can play but okc seems convinced

Scratching my head on this one.

Knicks be wheeling and dealing. So we basically traded #24 pick for 6 second rounders. I love it! Replenishes our draft chest and saves salary.
Knixkik @ 6/27/2024 9:13 AM
Still a chance the Knicks take 38 and trade up a bit to get Kolek, Filipowski or Bona, depending on who they really want.

It’s when you’ve already gone all in and found a loophole for just a bit more all in LOL

And you’re the GM and know you won’t be around for those picks anyway 😂

Nalod @ 6/27/2024 9:34 AM
Daddy Aye can be traded also?
I think reasoning for two day draft is that teams can do more horse trading to manage cap.
Stands to reason resigning iHart but cap space to make a trade for other FA is also needed.
There is still much work to be done.
iHart can get a good price but he also might find himself out in the cold if doors start to shut. Knicks being one. WE kept it open so thats a good sign. Thunder could make a trade for a Chet wing man. They still have a lot of currency to work with. They might want a two year deal for iHart?
The Claxton deal for 100mm over 4 is not a good sign. I don't know how to compare the two.

Glad we not chasing PG13 or Ingram

Filipowski and Bona are the names to watch today IMO.

Pretty simple. They are shorting the Wolves long-term. And considering the turmoil with their ownership group, it's very much possible that their 2031 first will be a lottery pick especially since Anthony Edwards will have become a Knick by then.

MaTT4281 @ 6/27/2024 9:59 AM
I want to see what happens with 51. With all this Bronny James speculation, feel like it could carry a little extra value than a normal pick in the 50s. Is a team looking to roll the dice on luring LeBron or even just looking to spite the Lakers willing to send a future 2nd (that we hope isn't so late) to take him before #55?

Trading a current lottery pick for a pick that could possibly be a lottery pick 7 years down the road is a curious move for team currently rebuilding around a generational talent. Only explanation I've got is that they want to be awful again next year and have a top pick in 2025. But still seems like they could have gotten better value on #8...

Nalod @ 6/27/2024 10:04 AM
Picking Bronny then engaging a trade from Lakers for the pick is a value play.
Would Lebron go to Gleague to play with Bronny? Europe?
A dream is a dream!!!! Lebron play a year in Europe at age 4x??

This isn't your average draft. It's been widely discussed as the worst in a generational; similar to to 2013. KCP turned himself into a very useful role player but would anyone care to lose any of the other top-9 picks save Oladipo in that draft?

Whatever the outcome, I doubt the 8th pick would have any baring on the Spurs competitiveness next season. That much would be entirely dependent on Victor's growth and if they sign a slew of capable veterans to flesh out their roster.

Yeah this is bizarre. Do they have pictures of pops in compromising situations with farm animals.

Again, Picks are currency. Most currency is not volatile but NBA picks are variable for obvious reasons.
Planting an asset like that in the future can pay off very well. IF Minny trends badly that pick will gain value for trade purposes if spurs want to use it. Look at how much nets/rockets/okc and others are flipping picks back and forth the last few years. At the same time Dillngham in 3 years might be a star player. If Minny is on the decline and his value is high they can trade him for picks or other value players. That could impact the pick, but Minny controls it because Dillingham developed into something special.

If our window narrows, and OG is healthy, and due to inflation his contract is not crazy a team contending will pay handsomely for him and we can trade him our and get back our picks/capital to some extent in return.

Back in the day Lakers and Celtics set up 80's teams by abusing teams and getting picks back. Like when Lakers got James Worthy pick! New era and new way but Spurs are building out a long term roster and the pick, even if not a top one can still be used in many ways to help them.

BPA at 38 is Tristan Newton from UCONN
NYKBocker @ 6/27/2024 10:55 AM
Mogbo or Filipowski for #38 would be ideal
SergioNYK @ 6/27/2024 11:27 AM
I watched some Filipowski yesterday and liked him. Plays a little like Hartenstein actually. Plays tough, good vision, makes some nice passes to cutters, can block shots and able to hit a jumper. Not sure if he is NBA ready but getting him at 38 would be solid. Also really liked Kolek but expect him to be taken earlier.

Gonna watch some Bona and Freeman later.

I'm 100% on board taking Bronny at #51 and stashing him in Afghanistan as revenge for 2010.
