Yooooo. You see this weird sh!t about why Kyle Filipowski dropped in the draft?
EwingsGlass @ 6/28/2024 7:09 AM
This team is sick. I’m ecstatic. I didn’t get any of the guys I was hoping for in the draft. But that’s ok. Feel like we got a little cute and missed out on a couple guys by taking risks. Went in with three picks. Came out with 3 picks. I’m good.

Brunson / DDV
Bridges / Deuce
OG / Hart
Randle
Robinson

Scoring in NY is gonna be hard. Waiting to see how this finishes is the hardest part.

We actually came out w 4 guys. Last pick in the draft ended up ours too. Center I never heard of

You are right. I can’t count.

I more curious about the trade from 40 to 58. Need the rest of the story there.

I have been looking everywhere for details as well. I guess we just have to wait until Bagley writes an article or realgm updates their future draft picks page.

I think the Knicks did really well in their draft. Can stash another Euro overseas and then got a second round PG, Wing, and center.

I accepted that losing McBride is better than losing IHart. If he's the odd man out in the rotation due to Bridges, so be it. I don't think Knicks can afford to let IHart or Robinson go.

Kinda glad we didn't get him then. Sheesh.

Nalod @ 6/28/2024 9:34 AM
what a strange story and to be "outed" by the brother. No doubt teams looking into him and his back ground would have missed this. Knicks are not in a place to have taken him in even if he was not being brainwashed given salary thing trying to stay under the apron, but cultural he would be a hard fit in NY with a mature tight locker room.
In Utah, he can but he still has to hoop.
This thing as reported cost him millions and perhaps the security of a 1st round guarantee to get acclimated to the NBA game and the security of 3 years to do it. I feel bad for his family. The draft is a reminder of how much they sacrifice to get the kids to AAU play, training, camps, etc and then your kid goes off into the occult is just hard.
As for Jazz, getting a kid with this talent in the second round is a worthwhile gamble if he can get his head on the court and play well. Who cares what he does off it as long as its morally and legal to represent his team properly. In Utah its going to be more accepted/tolerated.
SergioNYK @ 6/28/2024 10:19 AM
Religious fanatics and psychos are some of the worst type of people in my experience so I'm glad we didn't bring that bs to this team.
SergioNYK @ 6/28/2024 10:22 AM
If I was a player that didn't get drafted yesterday and knew I was better than Bronny, I'd be really pissed. He basically stole a spot cause of his last name. And you just KNOW he will steal someone's spot on the roster and minutes on that team over someone who is better and more deserving. Bronny got more coverage and hype than even the top pick!

So happy we will never have that bs on this team. We went though it a little with Chris Smith.

Some weirdness about getting the draft rights to a 2007 1st round euro guy with a hip replacement who is now a Spurs assistant. That was in the last swap with the Mavs where we got the center. Seems like that was all that was involved - very weird.
Chandler @ 6/28/2024 10:32 AM
it is whacky

there have been second generation players for lots of good players but never this kind of treatment. As much as i do not like Lebron, i kind of feel sorry for the kid if he stumbles a little

Knicks North makes a deal with Knicks South. Grimes to Dallas for Hardaway
EwingsGlass @ 6/28/2024 10:34 AM
IQ just got 5 years 175m. Boom. Love ya Quick.

Here's the known details of our trades:
https://www.nba.com/knicks/news/new-york...

NEW YORK, June 27, 2024 – The New York Knicks announced tonight that the team has finalized separate trades with the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks:

New York acquired the draft rights to Tyler Kolek, the 34th overall pick, from Portland in exchange for three future second-round picks and the draft rights to Daniel Diez.
New York acquired the 40th overall pick and cash considerations from Oklahoma City in exchange for the draft rights to Ajay Mitchell, the 38th overall pick.
New York acquired the draft rights to Kevin McCullar Jr., the 56th overall pick and a future second-round pick from Phoenix in exchange for the draft rights to Oso Ighodaro, the 40th overall pick.
New York acquired the draft rights to Ariel Hukporti, the 58th overall pick, the draft rights to Petteri Koponen and cash considerations from Dallas in exchange for the draft rights to Melvin Ajinca, the 51st overall pick.

BigDaddyG wrote:McCullar kind of reminds me of Josh. I think he is a very good pull late in the second. Still doubt he makes the team tho.

Two way slots.

Second round exceptions also. My thing is that I'm not sure he's good enough. This isn't the Fizdsle Knicks we're dealing with anymore. Would you say McCullar is slightly below where Dame Dotson was as a prospect when he was drafted?

What are the different financial implications between using a 2nd round exception (which I believe equates to either a 3 or 4 year minimum deal) or fitting player in as a 2-way slot?

SergioNYK wrote:Probably the funniest and most entertaining draft with all the trades.

I like the Kolek pick. He was at the top of my list based on the late and very little research I did. He plays like a Thibs type and has the skillset with the passing that we needed off the bench.

Did no research on Dadiet, McCullers or Hukporti. But Dadiet's highlights are impressive. He looks as talented as any of the lotto wings. He is a perfect wing to stash away overseas or in Westchester until he is ready. Going up against Hart, OG and Bridges in practice is a great way to learn too.

And the other two guys were picked in the 50s so it's whatever.

All I have is questions. Kolek means we don’t bring over Joku? Then what do we do with Joku?
Dadiet? Need more info.
McCullers defensive SG with no offensive game?
Hukporti?

All those trade backs. Probably should have additional consideration, no? What’s the additional consideration?

I guess Kolek could result in Joku being added to a trade (implications are fuzzy) or staying in Europe. I believe Kolek will be on roster as experienced 23 year old college starter.

I think McCullers has some offense but needs to put in the proverbial 1,000 3’s a day and likely tweak his form. See Trevor Ariza.

Have to assume Dadiet cap hit is going to be moved somehow - not sure if staying overseas is only option but he can’t sit all year on bench and we need his $ for other moves.

Hukporti I’ll be surprised if he ever plays a second but still unclear why we moved down an inch to pick up P Koponen 36 year old rights.

What the hell is Detroit doing?

They take a young tough defender with solid 3/D potential and move him for multiple 2nds and Tim Fing Hardaway.

In the process they allow Dallas to open up full mLE for D Jones re-sign. And Dallas adds another wing defender.
