WOJ

One of the last decent options now gone.

Read it differently: A guy who the Knicks would never sign is now not available. The end

Yeah I think he could have helped us. He has a lot of physical ability.

And again I go back to, beggers can't be choosers.

Center is major position of concern right now.

Despite 3 years of play across 4 years in the NBA of not showing an ounce of productive capability, your thought process is that a FO who puts an emphasis on the things Wiseman does not do well in is a good backup center choice for a Finals contending team?

It's an odd cascade of nonsense to me

I take it Wiseman fills that slot and potential upside that Smith didn't.
Whats going on with Jackson? They not want to extend him? The money getting tight for Pacers?
He has one more year on his rookie deal. He did play well vs. us.

Garrett, We not begging. We have Mitch and Sim's. FO will figure something.

Think he's gonna be up for an extension this coming offseason (2021 draft class) and it won't easy for them fit him in given the Pascal/Hali contracts and the fact that he's behind in the pecking order. A bit of a similar situation as we were in with Obi and we sent him to a destination he could thrive, maybe its a bit of a favor returned. There is a CAA/Kentucky connection here, so who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Just feels like there are some tea leaves here that lead us in this direction. I thought he was really impressive against us in the playoffs. Really good finishing and some explosive athleticism and shotblocking.

wiseman seems to be joining a relatively long list of #2 picks who ended up being nothing-burgers

if check the last 25 years or so #3 slot has been better

Another option off the board.

If a never ending bout of nighttime migraines and hangovers is an option, then I'll pass.

Would be a great addition, but most certainly going to be too expensive for my taste if we have to go through Ainge. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think I'd rather just bring back Achiuwa.

Makes sense all this silence, that they are exploring the trade market more than the FA one.

I'd trade Deuce for Kessler if we could get Rokas to come over.
Knicksfan @ 7/2/2024 3:02 PM

Ok, we are definitely not getting anyone from free agency. Other than Precious, probably.

Bummer

Knicksfan @ 7/2/2024 3:04 PM
The more centers off the list, the more I dislike iHart. We should’ve had a backup FA plan already in place for his departure.

I'm not sure what we have left to trade. We can't trade a first this year due to the Stepien rule and I'm sure Ainge isn't interested in swaps from us. I don't think Deuce moves the needle for them either since they already have young guards

But don’t sell it short. Deuce has 3 years left, all under $5M and is playoff tested while having some upside as a PG. IMHO he is worth a lot more than Kessler in a vacuum.

VDesai @ 7/2/2024 3:14 PM
Kessler is the no.2 shotblocker in the league and one of the few guys who blocks more than 2 shots per game these days. He would be a really nice get.

Maybe Dadiet + the rights to Rokas is interesting to them?

The thing is, I could never figure out why Utah never gave him the starting job. Probably wanted to play 5 out with John Collins, but I thought Kessler was the logical replacement for Gobert.

Interesting. It would sure be a tough pill to swallow. Kessler is in the last year of his deal before a qualifying offer. Would be potentially hard to extend.

VDesai @ 7/2/2024 3:24 PM
Nick Richards is close to a double / double guy. Doesn't have Kessler's elite rim protection. He is a Kentucky guy though! Would think he's the cheaper option

Feel like all Utah players are being auditioned for their next team while Utah tries to find their next superstar by accumulating picks and managing cap space. Kessler is a solid defensive C. Not a star. But a solid rotational piece. If I am the Knicks, I am holding out to take him into a TPE for something like Rokas or a sign and trade for Burks at 10mm to get Utah above the minimum salary.

SergioNYK @ 7/2/2024 3:30 PM
I'm sure Danny Ainge is going to be fair and honest this time in the negotiations.
VDesai @ 7/2/2024 3:44 PM
Wagner back go Magic for 2 yrs / 22 mm

They are loaded with bigs. Would they deal Wendell Carter?

Chandler @ 7/2/2024 3:50 PM
^^ Carter seems to be out a lot and is probably their most talented big when healthy

I would like to think Knicks have multiple feelers out and the news about Walker is just as likely a planted leak to get some other team to reduce price as it is Knicks bona fide top plan at the moment

all in all, it seems surreal that the Knicks biggest issue now is finding their second center and enough minutes for all their talent

seems like only yesterday we were pinning our hopes on Jose Calderon

martin @ 7/2/2024 4:15 PM
Oh hi

Chandler @ 7/2/2024 4:34 PM
So I tried to find whether there ever have been NBA centers who came from Villanova just because....

No luck. But i did find out that there was a former Villanova player called Chubby Cox. For real. https://basketball.realgm.com/ncaa/confe...

given the recent conversations about Adem Bona I thought people might be interested

Garrett2010PSD @ 7/2/2024 5:23 PM
Yeah the rumor right now on twitter is Deuce for Kessler.
