Everything I hear about teams over the 2nd apron is extremely bad. Why did the players ever agree to this.? This is about as close to a hard cap as you can get without one. No wonder the Clippers said no to a PG max. Once our team friendly deals expire our future is going to be bleak with all these things for repeat offenders over the 2nd apron. We need to make sure we are set for a long time before we go above the 2nd apron.

We really need that center before entering this second apron

Ouch

PHX had a small window there and did the most egregious Starphuch Since Isiah Thomas took the knicks to hell. Just seems so familiar a sequence Ibisha had. Durant deal consummated freaking day after he bought the team at the trade deadline!
I did not watch a suns game this year. In part, and tell me if you agree, they just had thus bad aura about them?
Just like some sad shit every time you see "Suns", nobody smiling. Won 49 games. More than Isiah as GM/President of knicks.
How did Ibisha take a franchise that had gone to the finals three years prior, was in the playoffs each year since, then spend an ungodly amount of money to only get bounced in the first round?
Who could influence such disappointment at such inflated monetary consideration? Only one man, and one man only can be the succubus of good will, money and fun?

It reeks of Isiah.
Remember he did the Marbury deal just days after taking over? Humiliates Don Chaney forcing him to fire him with not a clue of what to do next. The debacle that was Not Mike Fratello but imbecilic tilt to hire Lenny Wilkins was that of legend. Few GM's are that inept in such a short time. Later, the Bulls were attempting to buy out Eddy Curry due to a cardiac episode and in comes Isiah
:

The actual trade saw the Knicks deal Jermaine Jackson, Mike Sweetney, Tim Thomas, a 2006 first-round draft pick, a 2007 first-round draft pick, a 2007 second-round draft pick and a 2009 second-round draft pick to the Bulls for Curry, Antonio Davis and a 2007 first-round draft pick.May 6, 2015

Then the sexual harassment accusation and 11mm Settlement. Oh, that guy, and the one that OD'd on sleeping pills then pins it on his daughter. You buy a team for 4 billion large and your taking Roster construction advice from Isiah? Draft advice? Ok. Coaching advice? I can see that. Trade for Bradley Beal advice? Don't dial that number!

This is like asking "Son of Sam" Berkowitz if he has any "dog whisperer" advice?
Like asking Hitler for a cool recipe for Matzah Ball Soup!
Like asking Sarah Palin for parenting advice!

You know what your going to get.

Yeah, never got the memo that fit is as important, maybe even more so, as talent, The team had plenty of guys who can create for themselves, but couldn't run a team. Even if they did get a real PG, who out of that big 3 are you sending to the bench? Beal would be the logical choice, but is he gonna be down with that.

For sure…but let’s not forget KD’s role as a team killer here either. Though I suppose he did the Nets a solid in them getting talent and draft capital (and then more draft capital) by forcing his bad act out of the borough of kings.

I'd do a pick with protections, not that they have one to trade this year.. But the salary is what really makes this unrealistic for the Knicks.

I would personally stay away from older players. We need young players that will be here for awhile. Plus he can either leave or will get a pay bump next year. I say stay away from older players because once we go over apron 2 we will not be able to get anyone good unless it is via a min contract and even that has restrictions. The limit is on the players contract amount. If their previous contract is above a specific amount we can't sign them. So you want players who will be with you for a long time. The 2nd apron penalties are crazy.

This reasoning is sound. Also tells me that this draft class didn't have any centers the team was interested in enough to move up a few picks for.to Hope they can make a trade or maybe Simms some improvement in things other than jumping really high.

Philc1 @ 7/6/2024 9:59 AM
Brook López at this age is too slow to be a defensive anchor in Thibs’ scheme. He’d be like Noah was here except at least we didn’t trade picks for Noah

Plus he’s definitely a guy we could probably trade peanuts for at the trade deadline next February if we’re desperate

And Lopez wouldn’t partying and stealing money.
