I remember. Consistently screwed up defensive rotations.

I'm a little baffled by this. He played 11 min, 9 min, 7 min, 4 min, 4 min. & 8 min against us in the playoffs. That's not a huge sample size to dismiss this guy having arguably his best regular season. Knicks need a back up big or two to eat some minutes in the regular season. Dude is definitely a candidate to be considered at the right price.

It just means they had no one better to play those minutes. Again, there's a reason they brought Drummond back.

what was his combined plus/minus in those minutes. I have a feeling they were not good. You know what I will look myself.

Game 1 - 11min - Minus 21
Game 2 - 9min - Minus 6
Game 3 - 7min - Minus 5
Game 4 - 4min - Minus 6
Game 5 - 4min - Minus 5
Game 6 - 8min - Minus 1

He played a combined 43 minutes and was a Minus 44. The man was really bad. So bad that everytime I saw him come in I knew a run was coming. He was so bad that I remembered how badly a backup played. I should not even know his name. I only watch the 76ers when they play us.

I rest my case.

Interesting. He thrives in the same area of the court as Sabonis. I wonder if they expect Derozan to be their sixth man

Kings don’t give a hoot about defense

I think Paul Reed is a third string center/backup PF type. I think I'd rather bring my Precious back.

His stats for the 2023/24 season are solid

Played 82 games, averaged 19 minutes, shot 54/36.8, 71% FT shooter, 6 rebounds, 1.3 asst, 1 block and 7.3 points.
Those are productive numbers for a back up.

Not saying he's not a rotation player. Just question bringing him in as the de facto backup 5. The fact the 76ers are choosing Drummond and Bamba over him should tell us something.

Bringing both Paul Reed and Achiuwa back make the most sense. Offer Paul Reed a bloated deal at the taypayer MLE and between him, Achiuwa and a minimum contract like KBD you can flip them together for a contract during the season like Rob Williams or Steven Adams for example. Would just have to wait until December.

Kings should have had a chance at a post season run last year - cooled off at the wrong time in an extremely tight race (shout out to a couple NYK wins in there March/April). Getting DD for Barnes, who is very replaceable, and Duarte, who's better off not being replaced, hopefully gives them enough of a boost up from that second tier out West.

Actually like that team (usually have 1 Western Conference team I pseudo follow/root for during the season).

So maybe, I dunno, but just a chance that their bench sucked and has sucked for years....and...maybe every back up Center who has played behind Embiid has had a negative plus minus in the playoffs since Embiid was drafted. But you know what, don't let 82 gams of statistics stand in your way. We are going to need a minutes eater in the regular season and probably two, why you talking playoffs? Big bodies done dirt cheap are worth a look.

If I had to guess, the hold up with signing anybody is with Ainge slow rolling talks on Kessler. Kessler is my guy.

Enough for the Knicks to get that top 13 protected 2025 pick?

Garrett2010PSD @ 7/7/2024 12:24 PM
I think that's why Detroit wants their pick back. They think they will be good enough that the Knicks keep it.
DLeethal @ 7/7/2024 12:45 PM
It’s hard being backup to a 30ppg scorer. We saw that with Deuce who is a good young player but our offense cratered when Brunson sat. Reed as backup to Mitch would probably be good. Drummond gives them some offensive chops so they probably feel better with him backing up Embiid.

They need to go sign Tyrus Jones adding a pure PG there.

I understand what you are saying about the 82 games should count. I feel differently about that. For example, I love Quick. Quick was the 6th man of the year for us. Once the playoffs started he was unplayable. The reason why I value playoffs way more than the regular season is because that is when teams gameplan for you and attack your weakness. Brunson adapts and overcomes. Players like Quick just could not cut it. Quck may or may not improve in the future but that is not our problem now.

What good does Paul Reed do us when he becomes unplayable in the playoffs? We are a championsip or bust team now. We pushed all our chips to the center of the table and time to get our roster set is running out. We need to do it and get it right before we go over the 2nd apron. Because once we go over that will essentually be our team for the good or bad.

The offense broke down because of Mcbrides faults. Not because he is the backup of a 30 point scorer. McBride can not consistantly run an offense or breakdown a defense. He is essentially a small 2 guard.

Philly signing Drummond sounded to me like a blocking move to make sure we didn’t do it. The Knicks likely didn’t have their ducks in a row on the Bridges trade and were holding out waiting in IHart. Nearly all the Centers were snapped up by the time iHart made his decision. Drummond matches the Knicks system too well. Just fills the block when Embiid is out in Philly.

To me this pick is sort of a golden ticket. There’s a really good chance this can convey as a lottery pick. Maybe not next year but after that.

They wanted Drummond from last season. They had a trade close with the Bulls for him for 2 2nd round picks but the bulls backed out to try and make the playoffs.

Edit: My fault it was 3 2nd round picks.

Pistons will be horrible again. Still no identity and so many other teams got better still
