Kris Dunn is still in the league! 😲

And trade worthy too

I would've preferred Tyus Johnson or Spencer Dineiddie as backup PGs over Terry Jones if I knew they would still be available.

Why? Cam Payne is close with Mikal, hurt us when he was on Philly, and will be OK not playing. He's a great bench guy, locker room guy, and is a chemistry signing. The other two guys (Do you mean Jones?), what do they bring? Another 2 ppg?

Knicks at 3min mark

I wanted him on Knicks -- looks like either the Knicks don't agree with me or he had better $ and playing time available via the sign/trade.

He's a guy who has played in I think 47 playoff games last 4 years. He can handle the ball with ease - fluid/smooth and he knocks down 3's at a high rate (38%? career). He's also an agressive offensive player which Thibs likes and Payne puts pressure on the rim (nice floater) and can catch shoot 3's off ball as well (say off a Josh Hart drive and kick). He's a confident player. If you compare that to Deuce trying to run the offense - it's not fair to Deuce.

Payne is also a guy who has had some very big playoff games recently (I think 29 vs Clips 2 years ago) and I believe he started a bunch of games on the Suns team that went to finals with Mikel a few years back.

Plus $3.1M but I think only counts $2.3M vs cap.

I meant Jones. Terry Jonson is Cam's alias. I flipped their last names around. Not knocking the Cam signing, but the other two players are better players. Spencer brings more positional size and scoring and Tyus is a better playmaker/ball handler.

CBA now helps player like Zaire move to a team that will give him more opportunity?
Not like this is the first era players are "squeezed" salary wise. Sometimes a player bets on himself and wins, sometimes it does not work out. Perhaps Zaire finds his space and in time also gets a nice contract.

Am I missing something? This seems like a normal salary dump. This has existed before this new CBA.

Only saw Zaire a few times but I thought he had promise

The problem he is can’t shoot. But great free gamble for the Nets.

Wow vet min

VDesai @ 7/23/2024 11:20 AM
I don't think Dinshittie is worth more than vet min at this point. He's an inefficient chucker. In aggregate he's played pretty poorly since he came back from his injury, except for that period of time he was with Dallas, so maybe this is the right fit for him
MaTT4281 @ 7/23/2024 1:48 PM
Is that vet min contact in dollars or...?
martin @ 7/24/2024 9:08 AM
Going into his 3rd year, got the 3 year tack-on. Very nice bump.

Deuce, your next market floor has been set.

Also: Josh Hart starting his $18M, 19M.5, $21M extension with an extra $22M 4th year team option after his $13M last year as comparison.

Of course it has. but the taxes keep going up making dumps more fiscally important?
Yes, players been getting squeezed for years and years and some get dumped too. But he gets an opportunity. He was like the 10th pick in the draft. Seems like only knicks blow picks, right? LOL Felt? He was top pick over Tatum!!!!! Danny Ainge finest work. We forget the good ones.
Just pointing out dump, or excess talent gets another crack to a team that has minutes. Thats all. Teams need to shed salary to stay flexible also.

The ownership is trying to cash out. A second title would do wonders for the valuation. I wonder who out there has the money to pony up. Will the league start going after that Saudi Arabia money?

EwingsGlass @ 7/24/2024 9:07 PM
Jay Huff to Grizzlies on a 2Way deal. He seems like a no brainer.

Do the Knicks FO honestly think they don’t need another C?

Darius Bazley waived by Utah. (And Kenny Lofton).
