Knicks · Thibs look of pain, anguish, disgust and horror... (page 1)

...every time Toppin touches the ball is total bullshit. I've mentioned this over the years. If you're Toppin, how do you pretend not to notice. It's got to hurt a young guy trying to establish himself in the league. It took Obi 3 years to speak out but I'm glad he did. For all the good things Thibs does as a coach, freezing out players for no apparent good reason is a bad look.

I would like to see Toppin come into this season with some handle and strength. Put the ball on the floor big fella'. whatcha' got to lose? Thibs is going to pull you after 10 minutes anyway, it's not like he's going to play Randle 48...wait, never mind

newyorknewyork @ 6/23/2023 11:34 AM
Rose needs to show commitment one way or another. If Obi isn't a Thibs type of player then he needs to adjust accordingly. If not then he should move on from Thibs for a coach that fits his vision of these type of players he looks to add. But being stuck in the middle will continue to cap us.

Somewhat on and off topic.
Mitch, Randle, RJ don't provide enough spacing for each other as a frontcourt trio. Need snipers as their bench alternates to fill in and compliment. Which Obi isn't. Brunson is our franchise player. Currently constructed the lineup doesn't provide him the optimal amount of space for our franchise lead G. Personally id target Vooch with KP out the picture for starting center. And need a 3 & 4 or 3/4 sniper off the bench to sub in for RJ or Randle.

Thibs is a career destroyer. He is killing OBI and will burn out Bruinson and Randel. Thats why no one wants to come here to the Knicks. It makes me laugh when I see posters write and say how about getting this player or that player. Look other players on other teams see how thibs treat other players on this team. The only way we got Brunson was because his father was a coach on the Knicks.

maybe go check Randel's #s before Thibs vs. under Thibs and come back to me on that career destroyer thing

He wrecked Cam Reddish as well yeah? You funny

also "pain, anguish, disgust and horror" are 80% of Thib's expressions

he's not getting frozen out for no reason, there was a third team All NBA in front of him, who is in the top 20 for MPG. It's just the reality of the situation, it's not a personal vendetta

Comes more down to fit and needs of the lineup. Obi was drafted to be Randle's replacement. Randle then had a great season and got extended. This now has made the roster fit sloppy. Obi is a pure 4 who doesn't offer flexibility to slide to the 3 or 5. Roster needs a player with more positional flexibility. Whose game is more fine tuned around the perimeter to compliment RJ-Randle-Mitch. If we are to run it back with them and want next level of results. If we are to hold on to Obi to be Randle insurance for one more season. Then it will continue to be a little sloppy, and he/we won't be in the best position to succeed. With the possibility that his value tanks.

I think fit was taken into account. I'm still not convinced that Randle wasn't a goner going into the season. In retrospect, they should've just flipped the pick. Hal had a lot of question marks at the time and I don't blame them as much for not taking a swing. Also says something about taking a client who's represented by your son. 😏

Obi probably should of been moved once Randle was extended. Rose seems to operate more on a reactionary basis than progressive one though.

They are going to need to promise Obi a larger role. Thibs needs to be on board with that. Even if we trade Obi, I don't think signing his brother is charity. The kid is a decent prospect and comes from the Kentucky/coach K tree

Y? Because Obi can only play PF effectively. Averaged 15.7mins per game which got a slight bump with Randle getting a rare injury toward the end of the season. Top 8 lottery pick getting 15.7mins per at $5-7mil per into his 3rd yr isn't as cost effective overall. At least not compared to a SF/PF, &/or, PF/C who can get 20+mins behind RJ, Randle, Mitch who actually compliment them.

Combined RJ-Randle-Mitch shot 30% from 3 and 72% from FT last season.
Yet 0-10ft they shot
Randle: 0-3ft(68%) 3-10ft(52%)
Barrett:0-3ft(64%) 3-10ft(40%)
Mitch: 0-3ft(70%) 3-10ft(33%)

Need players behind and around them that provide what they lack. Offering more space for them to enhance what they do. If this is the frontcourt we are going to continue to run with.

newyorknewyork @ 6/23/2023 2:09 PM
Like Quentin Grimes got near 30mins per this past season for these same exact reasons.

Maybe or maybe not it depends on Obi's mind set. At the end of the season he was very angry and wanted to be traded now it looks like he wont and if Thibs continue to give him 10 min it will all depend on Obi's mind set how he will play. We don't have a true leader on the team that makes everyone better and dont say Bronson.

I have a feeling lil bro is going to be slumming it Westchester for the next two years. Trevor Keels is going to have a full grown beard and a family by the time Jacob sees the Knicks bench.

I have a feeling lil bro is going to be slumming it Westchester for the next two years. Trevor Keels is going to have a full grown beard and a family by the time Jacob sees the Knicks bench.

Going to demand a trade to join Willie Hermangomez, Athansis Atentomkoupo, and Chris Smith.
