Let’s be clear, yes, he is probably too 5 offensive player in the league. That comes with a high usage (33%), an elite FT% (91%), questionable defense and a questionable health history. Oh, and an absurd salary. The last part is the key.
Lillard has a player option in 2026-2027 for 63mm per year. Just think about that. In 2025 they are paying Butler a 37 year old Butler 53mm and and 36 year old 60mm. With penalties for being over the apron.
I think the days of 3 max contracts have passed. Maybe it works well for him. I hope Miami makes that trade and gives ups picks to make it work.

I thought I had read about the resolution of his incident and thought I would be ok with working to acquire him.
From this article below- it seems Charlotte doesn't want him, but wants to trade him. So I think that is the scenario.
