Can assume there are options we are not aware of?
Didn't Taureen Prince get waived yesterday?
Or, a trade is being cooked up. WE rolling with Randle the minutes are not there for Toppin. He has earned more minutes and an opportunity to start else where. I think we'll be fine come the fall.

Prince already signed with the Lakers.

Zero moves in the draft or day 1 free agency. Crazy.

I’m not really sure the Knicks are concerned about backup PF. They signed Roby as insurance, and both Barrett and Hart will see the backup 4 minutes as part of the regular rotation I bet.

The dominoes just started to move. First cap space gets filled, then contracts start trading.
Obi has yet to move.
EF still here.
Some teams need to cut and some need to add. Should be interesting but doubt its a big splash. It rarely is.
its July 1st, Scott Perry is at the Beach and technically we have no GM named yet. Likely we'll promote from within either Rosas or Aller?

I prefer to making impulsive, overpaying, franchise hurting moves. You know, like we always did before.
Wannabe fake all star got a 5 yr 260mm extension!

Maybe it won’t be a straight dump but trade with Indiana. Like Jalen Smith or something.
Indiana roster has too many players that need minutes.
If Jalen Smith is the best we can do, I'm hanging onto Obi and trying again in February.
Just stand pat and wait for Embiid, Luka or Giannis. If none of them become available, tough luck. But I'd much rather watch RJ, IQ, Grimes and Obi play and keep growing over watching some hasbeen like Harden or PG tbh. Harden or PG don't make us contenders anyway.

It’s the best I could come up with without thinking LOL
Knicks just need to improve the shooting somewhere in the rotation. At this point I’m fine replacing Toppin with either DiVincenzo or Torrey Craig and seeing what happens.

Indiana would have to match contract for Obi so it would have to be a player for Obi and a pick. I'll take Smith who was a lottery pick too and can replace Obi as back up 4. Maybe the team can convince him to stay as back up if not trade him.

I don’t understand the desire/need to trade Toppin.
Isn’t he cheap, and great for team chemistry? Or is it that he wants out?
Wouldn't you want out? He's tired of being Randle's caddy.
Who are we getting to replace him ?
From Obi's point of view that's our problem not his. I like Roby's upside as a reserve. The Knicks would obviously be loosing out from on Obi's ceiling, but that really doesn't matter as long as Jules is on the roster.
BigDaddyG wrote:Jacob Poetl is a good player, don't get me wrong. But I'd rather have Mitchell Robinson on his current, descending deal.

Poetl is a well-rounded, high effort player and is an underrated shot blocking threat. I'd say Poetl is probably a little better for his team than Mitch because he's more of a threat on offense. If you don't guard him, he's going to get 20ppg - and if you double him, there's a fair chance it'll turn into points with his passing.
If you don't guard Mitch and he's wide open from the free throw line and beyond, he's still not going to take the shot. It's kind of annoying.
So... Toronto gets Poetl for $20/yr. We get Mitch AND Hartenstein for ~$24/yr.

I think Indiana still under cap, incredibly. But it does still make sense for the Knicks to maybe take a lower salary back.
I can’t see the Knicks giving up a pick with Obi going out.
Someone help me understand why Indiana wants Bruce Brown at $20m when they have Hali, Nemhard, TJ McConnell at PG and Mathurin, Hield, draftee Sheppard, Nesmith at the SG/SF slots already?
Maybe they move Heild?
Where are the Brown minutes coming from?
MS wrote:$40MM for Bane? 16MM for Strauss? League has gone mad. Hard to swallow some of these numbers. We have the best contracts in the entire league right now. Let’s add one more with Donte on a 4 year mid level deal. That would be a big win.
Keeping IQ at $20MM will prove to be a deal.
I do feel like a deal for Ayton is available if we want it. Obi, Fournier, IHart and McBride would actually be a good move for both teams. But not sure Mitch would accept 25 minutes a night. But would really give us two elite units.
I would have definitely been ok if Knicks offered Bane that sort of contract. I feel he is that special and Memphis MVP. as much as I like Morant, I would move him and just build around Bane and Jackson.
That Struss contract is a bit of an overpay though
Some teams have signed contracts and added players this past draft. With new additions many vets will have to be moved and moved with more value for the acquiring team. I think Leon is looking to snag vets other teams will be looking to move now. BTW does Eric Gordon give us what Dante would for a better value ?
