So thrilled he’s on our team
He had definitely exceeded expectations. When we signed him I liked but didn’t love it because I felt he had proven enough to warrant a big contract like that but he proved me wrong and I’m glad he did.
He’s a superstar, and has totally changed the direction for this team.
I said this before- he is a smaller version of Larry Bird.
I grew up watching Larry and being always frustrated that the Celts always got the calls, always found a way to win.
Larry had the athletic ability of pudding, but he always could get open to get his shot off, he could make amazing passes and always got the critical rebound.
the best part is the Knick FO seems to be building around him.
I love the Donte signing.
I will miss Obi - and I think we might miss him more than we think. But maybe it will be more important to have guys that can feed off Brunson and amplify his style, his IQ, his approach to the game.

I think about this. In a vacuum, if you were building a team around Brunson the way GSW was built around Curry, what does it look like?
I have Brunson, two big 3&Ds, a Dray-like big that is fine being a compliment to Brunson and a mobile C that can enforce the paint, get out of the way, and yet still move to the rim of anyone tries to double. We kind of have the pieces for this but are lacking the positional awareness.

You want smart players that can play with and off him - nail the 3 when open because he has gotten into the paint, cut to the basket for the easy dunk.
And some players that can help on D because Brunson can be abused.
