Knicks · Bol Bol (page 1)

He has been released by Orlando and is an UFA. I would bring him in, he seems so be what the NBA future is about, ultra height, positionless and skills of a guard. Of course Thibs probably sees thinks differently.
MaTT4281 @ 7/5/2023 10:46 AM
I'd absolutely take a flier on him, but have to remember we'd still be competing with other teams to sign him - provided he clears waivers at all - and opportunity is going to be a big deal to the Bol camp (we're not exactly offering a whole ton of it...).

Temper expectations. Bol signing elsewhere is not a failure by the Knicks.

BigDaddyG @ 7/5/2023 10:54 AM
I think the thing with Bol is whether he can implement his skills into a system. He's fine if you bring him off the bench as a wildcard. But can you count on him to play a consistent role? It's kind of the same problem Anthony Randolph had.
Chandler @ 7/5/2023 11:23 AM
c'mon guys

pre-draft some thought he was lottery even top 5. slipped to second round. Denver then Orlando punted on him

My suspicion is that he might have Thon Maker syndrome -- some skills but delusional

Vmart @ 7/5/2023 11:41 AM
Yes the Knicks should bring him into the fold. The Knicks should waste no time in bring Bol Bol in.

Yep. Not a failure - a possible missed bench opportunity. But hey, teams whiff on free agents all the time. We didn't go after Kyle Anderson before this past season, and now we see him as pretty much the ideal forward/6th man/part time starter for how we're constructed. (he signed a 2-year/$18m contract with the Wolves before last season, and now he's he looks like his next contract will be more like $18m/yr)

Worth noting - the Magic PROBABLY called literally every team in the league, first asking for a 1st rounder... then eventually asking for a future 2nd rounder... and perhaps just for cash considerations - and no one picked him up... for only $2.2m.

I reckon teams around the league aren't as excited about him as fans are. It's a bit of an oddity - dribbles around the perimeter, spins, and drives. He's kind of like the perfect X-factor when you need something to happen. (like Zo Trier!)

What’s he good at?

Being 7'2" ball handler who draws his defender away from the rim.

I'd describe Bol as more talent than actual basketball player. Kind ofore enticing version of Cam Reddish. We've seen how Thibs treats guys like that and the Knicks are in competition mode.

Shot 26.5 from 3pt range this year.
I thought he had more range quite frankly myself.
Maybe there is there is something there but few times I saw him play vs. his stats for the year were really different when I looked.

It’s a no brainer
We just lost obi
It cost 2 mm$?

I’m concerned he goes to the heat or nets and comes into his own as well

You aren’t looking for a player that fits the Knicks, you are looking to play defense on him by preventing him going to another team.

That does not strike me as being very positive on Bol Bol.

Again, I ask: what is he good at?

Blowing past Obi Toppin for the dunk.

I think that's just the baseline for anyone who makes an NBA bench.

Is Hasheem Thabeet still 4 years away from being 4 years away? He's 36 now.

Martin he avg over 9 points and 6 rebounds in a limited minute role. He blocks shots can handle and is a better 3 point shooter than his numbers
For 2 mm bucks it’s a cheap replacement part w upside

It’s ok Thibs thinks Randle can handle playing 48 minutes a night

He is better than Robinson at just about every facet of the game. He has the ability to shoot 10-15 feet from the basket. Can bring the ball up from center position. Had a few years playing along side Joker. This is a no brainer. This guy is coming into his own. With proper coaching Thibs can make him into a Bam type player.

Seems almost reasonable

He averaged 9 and 6 in 21 minutes per game last season but you’d think we weee talking about Freddy Weis
