Years ago I am not sure if it was Ultimate Knicks or Real GM that had threads on prettiest woman most handsome men. It was a hoot. Both sites talked about many other topics other then the Knicks. Yet, the PSD mods frowned on the posters pasting on whatever they wanted to talk about. OCD, or anal retentive personality caused mods to have everything nearly in their boxes. You commented about a topic outside it's appointed thread it was moved and posters warned. Very dysfunctional causing dozens of posters to leave steadily over many years. Let's do our part to Keep Ultimate Knicks Great.

Pretty sure most handsome men is a list of one…

Something everyone can agree on

Maybe I have been there too long, but I get the criticisms of the culture from the Knicks forum there. Seem to be a chill bunch here. I promise to behave - looking forward to chatting it up with y'all.

Based on my criticism and the other ex PSD member would you say the criticism is founded on valid observations ? I'm old but I will use the TV show Seinfeld as a reference. George Castanza and his family was the only life he knew, for him the Castanzas were a normal family. But for those of us watching George and his parents we all realized that family was a bit dysfunctional. Maybe I'm wrong. But this forum and the defunct are very different. It's like the Upper East side is different from East Harlem. Both boarder one another have many similar things in common. But the differences are real, no ? Some of the posters will really enjoy it here. It's a cool and mellow place. Me personally want to preserve that. This place is a joy

I think the criticism is legit. I never went out and flirted with or dated different forums so I was probably too close to see it. But it became a bit like a comments section on twitter or something, nothing but arguing about the lightning rod topics. Everyone probably played a role. Tough to dig out of a toxic forum culture when it's so deeply established.

PSD had it's day, I was there 16 years, but it probably was best to close it up. I can say though, the people I know from there that I see have migrated, are good contributors and thoughtful posters.

Hello everyone!

The closure of the PSD means emancipation. If you embrace the change you will be like the protagonist " Andy " for Shawshank Redemption. Picture the scene when he made it out of the prison after moving thru the sewage pipe. Come and be reborn. Alleluliah and embrace your new freedom

Welcome DLeethal - in my post about PSDKnicks I stated that it was a handful of posters who prompted me to leave - after posting there for years. You were not one of them at all and I recall you seeking to be a voice of reason as well as being super knowledgeable. I am likely too sensitive and reactive to navigate what i perceive as the dominance and stridency of that handful of posters. We hate Randle and Thibs I get it. But every thread doesn't need to end up in ranting that and shouting down anyone who says otherwise or doesn't toe the party line of Knicks Knegativity. So I came here to get away from that.

You and the many other fine smart posters - the majority - I am happy to see. This board doesn't belong to me any more than you or anyone else but I can care about what goes on. And I'm not saying there cannot be disagreement, even vehement disagreement. But respect is crucial.

Some people can be introspective and some can't. Some will be defensive of criticism and double down. Some will be nice at first but will revert to accustomed behavior of 20 years of habits and conditioning. Look at how light this forum is. People are doing things and the discussion of the Knicks is given it's appropriate priority lower in the totem poll of life

Thanks for the kind words. I thought your username rung a bell. Yes PSD couldn't overcome the lightning rod debates in nearly every thread. It was reflective of our society today in a bad way. Posters had a "side" on an issue and defended it at all costs. Like I said I get the criticism. I won't hate on any specific posters or my time at PSD or act as if I didn't play a role in the toxicity there but this place seems like a fresh start and I'm happy to be here.

Oh and for the record we have Thibs and Randle haters aplenty here 🥸

Bit of history: Andrew and I built up this site and forums some 20+ years ago cause the old NYT's and perhaps NJ something forums were out of control and shutting down.

RealGM was just taking off around that same time or maybe just got past that point of growing really big.

agreed, I think eventually PSD just became too small of a community.

I honestly never knew there was another forum like this, with the old "forum" feel just like PSD, but with a much larger community. otherwise I probably would have joined a long time ago.

Seems like the inflow of new posters is pretty cool. Looking forward to the new opinions.
Alpha1971 @ 7/21/2023 6:22 PM
Plus, those people from PSD can continue at that Patreon forum. All the band of brothers can go there and continue just as they were without interruption. It sucks that an community was suddenly closed to so many, a place where people found fellowship. But the fact that some people lost their homes doesn't make it ok for them to disrupt the neighborhood where others are equally enjoying themselves. So welcome, I am not a mod, I have no control or influence. But this forum I have never ever had an interaction with a moderator, never ever had a poster tell me what I can say or where I can post it. Never, had a flame war here. A few weeks ago I saw a poster flake out against another and the community squashed it asap with mostly humor, and it was over. You all realize PSD had flame wars that humor did not resolve.

Hi,

Long time poster in PSD with some others that joined. Looking forward to talking Knicks here. I think a lot is warranted what was said, but I account for it as posting with others for 15 years. I like what was said about this forum and I have checked in here as a guest for quite some time now. I recommended this site to the PSD folks and I see some have already joined, great!
I usually don't forget posters and knickdanger has legit points, he was a good poster for us.

I did read one part about moderators and staying on topic, moving threads etc. As a former mod back in the day, I think you can shoot the site not the mod, we just followed site rules, which I know this forum considers a good thing. Actually had to step down awhile now because of things that were said, but never get enough of talking Knicks.

Some great posters have moved here and i'm very pleased to continue posting with them. After such long periods of posting constantly you get to know each other very well, even know what they will post before they do. I think sometimes like family it went to far and never liked people talking down to anyone. But I will say this the knicks knowledge is off the charts.

So glad to read the way it's done here and looking forward to talking Knicks with all or you.

Thanks

Just a question for the PSD members, why not go to the new Patreon site ? Why not just keep it all going as it was, why seek out a new forum with new culture ? You can have what you had previously that you lamented losing when the site closed ?

Just a question, why not see how it goes? Maybe the site gets better? I'm an old timer but isn't it a good thing when folks want to join the site? I always encouraged the visitors to come join the party at PSD.

I recommended this site for good reasons, my question is if a post like this is really the culture here? I don't think so, I like to be positive
