Im guessing a lot of these players blew their most of their fortune.

The thing about money and wealth is that it is never about the absolute, but rather the relative amount. Regardless of how much money you have, you inevitably find yourself among a circle of people who have comparable and often greater amounts than you, which makes you feel inadequate in comparison and makes you hungry for more. And even when you reach the pinnacle, you see Warren Buffet slyly smiling at you, because he does not give a hoot about how much money he has. You see NBA players getting these gargantuan $150-200m deals these days, and then hear them cry out in amazement and envy when they learn about Kylian Mbappe being offered over $1bn for his next contract.
