How do you think the coach will arrange the minutes for the 9 man rotations. When will the substitutes come in and for how long ? When do you see the 10, 11 and 12 ( Simms, Roby, and Deuce ) men playing ?
We know who Thibs is. Biggest question to me is DDV minutes and if he gets significant ones where do they come from. Obi's probably go mostly to Hart, so there's a few. Don't see cutting back on Randle and Brunson's, no matter how we feel. Deuce, Roby, and Simms don't get them until an injury, which will happen. Then it's up to them to force the coach's hand.

I am of the opposite thinking. I believe we will see a drop in Randle/Brunson minutes.
I am under the impression that the years up until this one was more development focused where rigid minutes and rotations and roles were in place. Earn your keep and Randle, RJ, Brunson were default minutes guys whereas everyone else was not so much.
This will be the first year where we see a derivation from that slightly. Guys have had enough time to figure stuff out and we will see more of working units. And I'd guess that the second rotation will be stronger than the first and earn their minutes.
IMHO this is more of a vet team than a rookie contract team, albeit still quite young. Additionally, the Knicks, while not guaranteed a spot in playoffs, will have an eye on that ball and cut minutes of some guys (Randle, Brunson) ever so slightly.

Well I hope so. It would make sense - although I am not of the mind that Thibs’ minutes for these guys is over the top for primary players, giving them a bit more rest would seem prudent for the long haul. We’ll see.

I agree with this. Thibs does love to lean on certain guys but I do think that second tier of players are ready to step up and it's just that fact that'll change the minutes distribution more than anything.
IMO IQ, Grimes, Hart, DDV will change the team minutes dynamic with their play. And Mitch/iHart will hold their minutes at the 5.
Any injuries will change everything.
Mitch/IHart
Grimes/DDV/IQ
JB/IQ
RJ/Josh
Jules/RJ/Josh/Roby
There is your 10 rotation as I see it for now.
Roby will get some minutes.
I think RJ slides over when they go smallish but Josh is there too.
Lets be real, Obi played small. he played on the parimeter and was a runner.
Roby has a good outside shot and perhaps he is this years reclamation project.
Taj returns, Deuce won't be happy, Evan either.
I expect a trade still.

Agree with all of this and keep completely forgetting about Taj. Could totally see him on roster next year.
Unless Thibs is in this thread it’s a waste of time to talk rotations. Thibs will do what he sees fit per the roster he’s given.
I’m done trying to understand this guy. Just improve on last year’s performance and that’s a win.

he's actually really EASY to figure out. You know the guys he likes and you know why. This is year 4 and easily the MOST Thibs like roster we have had. Rim protection, a wrecking ball like Randle and an army of aggressive guards who get after you on both sides of the ball.
You know he LOVES Grimes and IQ. Those guys are going to have to work to play their way out of minutes. The big question IMO is RJ who Thib's has shown he's willing to bench down the stretch for IQ or Josh Hart.

With this roster, Thibs is literally coaching his Wet Dream team and that's just disgusting
My concern is about Obi's replacement. Randle looks like he will be returning in great shape. But with most serious ankle injuries, you still might be able to do the things you did on a court. But you cant do it as much.
We cant expect a near 30 year old star, with mutliple serious ankle injuries. To be counted on like he is still 20. Will be disappointed if Randle is relied on as much this season. Might help Jules in the 4th quarter, to find a replacment for Obi,who will get more minutes than he did.

Think most likely scenario is team will go as is until the trade deadline. That's when this front office has acquired a mid season player such as Rose, Reddish, and Hart the last three seasons respectively.

Agreed. It'll be very interesting to see if the Knicks and IQ handle his extension. They have until Oct 23 I think.
If he signs, pretty much he can't be traded, poison pill and all.

Sign IQ seems best thing to do. It's Evan or the TPE that will be used at the deadline of a deal is to be had for a PF. Maybe Deuce and Simms in a trade. Think the team is going for continuity so I Hart and Mitch and all our wings are here to stay.
I think the 9 who play will see minutes based on what lineups get hot during the game. A bench unit may catch fire and guys like Barrett and Grimes see less time one game, then vice versa the next. Only Brunson and Randle are guaranteed the big consistent minutes every game.
The rotation is largely set though who finishes at 2,3, and 5 can and will vary IMO

Amazing what one can derive from a 30 second video clip.
Roby might be just fine to contribute 10-15 min and if need be can go big with a Front of iHart and Sims, or small with RJ or Josh too.

Read IQ trade value is higher if signed. Who ever wants him has no question marks regarding his restricted FA status. For all we know that number is already determined. The rumors that are being sent out is Knicks will sign him? Just a guess.
If so, what are the restrictions for him to not be traded? Extensions don't kick in until after the season? Just asking.

WTF are you talking about? I never mentioned Roby once. It was about whoever Thibs decides on. I dont believe the rotation is set.

30 second video of Randle being ok.
"Worried about OBI's replacement". IM suggesting Roby might be fine for the role.
Relax...........
My daughters in laws uncle has an indoor court just like the one Randle is shown in. My guess its in his house.
His son will be a killer if he has his dad's size. I think they spend the off season in Texas.

"Nalod says Relax"
Randle looks to be in good shape but the long term effects of two serious ankle injuries are another matter. Why its important to have a backup that Thibs trusts enough to give him the minutes.
The posters above got it. But you bring up a player I didnt mention (or was thinking of) and tell me to "relax". You relax Nalod.
