Eh, he has a hot wife. Ask Spoelstra how much that means in the grand scheme of things.

Gets along well with the players. Really good at 2K.

A hot wife makes many ills in life bearable. In the grand schemes a hot wife is fantastic. Assuming she is also kind and supportive that is.

Yeah, but not good if that's the only thing he has going for him as a coach. Thibs could be married to Roseanne Barr for all I care.

The only way a hot wife can be a plus for a coach is if he used her to seduce his players to perform better.

She was also a decent distraction for the first two months of that season. But that season was so bad that I permanently blocked it from my memory. That Iso-Zo kid was on the roster, right?

I get Cav's want to go in a different direction but why go with a rookie head coach? Yes, Quinn and Bryant come from very good coaches with history of building culture, but if your trying to get to the next level why not go with a coach who has experiences at that level your trying to get to? Atkinson is most qualified having been an assistant and head coach.
What have these guys back grounds that makes them the best choice? Experience both good and bad adds knowledge. We often as fans compose narrative that a coach is who he was and has not changed/grown/Evolved. Is Mike Brown better now than 10 years ago?
Jason Kidd?
I wish Bryant well and would be happy for him if he gets the gig. Its one thing if Thibs was taken ill and he had to step up on this team, but another to step in and try to take a team to the next level. Cavs are smart to pursue him and get him to extend.

He aspires to get back as a head coach. His gig in Memphis was mixed. I never read where he ultimately failed as as knick coach. He as handed a bad hand and did not play it well either.
I don't hate the guy. Hope he ultimately succeeds.

KnickDanger @ 6/1/2024 1:18 PM
Fizdale was awful, just awful. No apparent vision, direction, or dynamism. No one played hard or played defense. Ultimately have to blame the players but lottery rookies wilted on his watch. Of course there was plenty of culpability to go around but the head coach gets a big share. No need to hate but no need to downplay either.

Maybe the lowest of Knick low points which is saying a mouthful.

What a fraud Fizdale was (like many other Knick coaches) --- Thibs came in and set a foundation and we basically haven't seen a dud (effort) game from this team the past few years. Much appreciation where I stand on Thibs and getting this team ready / playing hard every single night.

Fizzle - just another blow hard "players coach" who was a kiss ass assistant coach who couldn't handle the big seat on the bench.

Could totally see this

It looks like TNT is going to be the first dynasty to fall. ESN, NBC and Amazon in, TNT out.
Clean @ 6/5/2024 4:57 PM

He went for the throat.

Dray usually does go for the throat or below the belt. Ask Rudy Gobert.

I think the Klay, Derozan and CP3 will happen, but I don't know about the rest....Especially that Lebron one if reports are true regarding Hurley to Lakers

Kind of makes me want to watch Skip cause I don't trust Dray's judgment.

Is it okay not to care for either of them?

It’s a sign that you’re not a dipshit.

Fizdale is the worst head coach of the Knicks I ever saw. Worse than Kurt Rambis

He must be a great ass kisser he keeps getting all these jobs

Fizdale was a mess. How does he have a rep as a “players coach?” He constantly had this sourpus look on his face on the sidelines. It’s not a coincidence once he got fired the team immediately played better not just with Thibs but even Mike Miller that same season

You admit you don't understand but thats all you got? No depth to the complexity of how guys hit and miss as young coaches and they do grow from it? Who does not like a good comeback story were a player or coach redeems an earlier mistake or failure?
I guess its PhilC?

Nalod @ 6/10/2024 2:24 PM
Danny Hurley Stays at UCONN. Perhaps an "East coast guy" or the lure of trying to get a 3rd chip was too great.
The NBA will be waiting for him when he is ready.
Unless his program falls apart or falls into scandal, his star will still shine. Being from New Jersey Danny is a Knick fan and maybe one day he takes over for Thibs if Johnny Byrant does not?
That Laker Gig is all good when winning but perhaps not so when the pressure is on. For Danny, who has not coached at that level to jump in and have AD and Lebron is a different gig than most.
Jay Wright being floated out there. Not sure why they want to bring in College guys? JJ Reddick does have a good image and NBA experience.

I'd like to see Sam Cassell get the gig. he has worked as assistant for a long time now.
Read Detroit might be willing to let Monty Williams go and Lakers pick him up?
