Knicks · Holy Cow 76ers Have 2 Players Guaranteed in 24/25 (page 1)

Rookie @ 10/18/2023 8:20 AM
Embid and Paul Reed. They surely resign Maxey as an RFA and Tucker is going to pick up his player option for 11M. That’s 4 players. Looks like the 76ers screwed themselves pretty bad. They’ve traded their picks and are going to need to rebuild through FA. Is anyone going to want to come? Is Embid going to want to stay? It’s looking like the Knicks are soon to be the 3rd best team in the East. I have to wonder if Morey survives this. He’s not the GM you want for a ground up rebuild with no assets. Philly is headed for dark days and they only have themselves to blame.

Survives?
You think they don’t understand the timeline?
Josh Harris sure as hell knows the deal. He might be busy buying teams and expanding but this is a team that went for it and will likely trade Embiid at some point and reboot. I won’t vouch for “the process” but its well documented it was radical. It was a good idea but like many good ones, they don’t always execute. They lost on players that could have been great. The gamble on Embiid did pay off thought. They contended for a good stretch. Seasons come and go.
Cap space will provide some flexabliity but players don’t shake loose like they used to. But…………
Will be another Randle and Brunson to capture as we did? Maybe.
Can they take on contracts other teams can’t? They will.
In the age of parity they might not fall as far as one things.
This is what makes the NBA intersting. The games and off season chess board!

Future Draft Picks
A quick rundown of which draft picks the Sixers own in upcoming NBA drafts.

Here's a quick breakdown of which future draft picks the Sixers owe other teams, and which ones they have acquired.

Incoming
2024 second-round pick from New York.
2029 second-round pick from Portland.

Outgoing
2023 1st round pick to Brooklyn (unprotected).

If the Sixers pick is worse than Denver's, it goes to Miami.

2023 2nd round pick (forfeited).

2024 2nd round pick (forfeited).

2025 1st round pick to Oklahoma City (Top 6 protected).
Becomes top 4 protected in 2026 if it doesn't convey in 2025.

Top 4 protected again in 2027 if it doesn't convey in either 2025 or 2026.

If the pick hasn't conveyed in 2025, 2026, or 2027, then, a) the Sixers have sucked for 3 years running and shit really went downhill, and b) the Thunder get the Sixers' 2027 2nd round pick.

2025 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City.

2026 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City.

2027 1st round pick to Brooklyn.
The pick is top-8 protected.

Year-by-year status
Here is a year-by-year breakdown of what they have.

2023
1st round pick - None
The Sixers will send this pick to Brooklyn. It is unprotected.
2nd round pick - None

2024
1st round pick - 76ers
2nd round pick - NYK

2025
Unlikely to have a 1st round pick
Unless it falls in the top 6.
No 2nd round pick

2026
1st round pick - 76ers
Unless it didn't convey to OKC in 2025, in which case, gets this pick as long as it falls from 5-30.
No 2nd round pick

2027
1st round pick - None
Unless it falls in the top 8. If it falls 1-8, the Sixers keep it, otherwise it goes to the Brooklyn Nets.
2nd round pick - None
Unless OKC doesn't get Sixers' 1st round pick in 2025, 2026 and 2027, in which case OKC would get the Sixers' 2nd round pick in 2027.

2028
1st round pick - 76ers
2nd round pick - 76ers

2029
1st round pick - 76ers
2nd round pick - 76ers
2nd round pick - Portland

Embiid’s people surely know about this. He will be more frustrated in the future than he is now

The 2023 pick is done.
They own their pick after this season. Next draft is 2024.

https://fanspo.com/nba/teams/76ers/23/dr...

Im looking at 2025:
PHIly round pick to OKC protected for selections 1-6 in 2025, 1-4 in 2026 and 1-4 in 2027; if PHI has not conveyed a 1st round pick to OKC by 2027, then PHI will instead convey its 2027 2nd round pick to OKC [PHI-OKC, 12/8/2020]

Looking at it all, draft wise they are not as phucked as I thought. Add the cap space gained it looks to me like Morey is on the muthaphucher.

Nalod @ 10/19/2023 3:09 PM
Really does look like they are ripe for Embiid trade. Core of Mitch and Randle. How many picks? Hard to say.

Core:

Embiid
Brunson
RJ
Grimes

Need a forward or two! There is more. I don't see harris given his salary.
Philly does Harden trade first. They wants a pick and Mann.

Mitch
Randle
Mann
Harris
Maxy.

Thats not a bad team there.

Knicks would still have a log jam and needs.

Just spitballing. Not predicting.

Which is also why we are in a very rare position that can offer Philly competitive pieces and fill some of that draft capital.

Mitch, Randle, RJ, Grimes, & 2 first round picks for Embiid and Tobias.

This gives Philly: Mitch, Randle, RJ, Grimes, Maxey and 2 picks offset the 2 they lost for 25 & 27. I don't see another team that can offer them the same ability to compete and retool.

Follow this up with an OG trade and were rolling.

How do you see the roster in the aftermath?

Can they throw in Harden....you know, so we can have continuity on the roster? Their starters for our starters

How do you see the roster in the aftermath?

Without OG trade
Embiid, Harris, Hart, Divincenzo, Brunson, IQ, Hartenstien, Fournier
With OG trade(Fournier)
Embiid, Harris, OG, Divincenzo, Brunson, Hart, IQ, Hartenstien
With OG trade(IQ)
Embiid, Harris, OG, Hart, Brunson, Divincenzo, Hartenstien, Fournier

Harris, Fournier, Hartenstien account for $67mil off the books. Though expectations should be to resign Harris for way cheaper than his current $39.2 cap. IQ &/or OG would also be looking at long term extensions. As well as Hartenstien unless they view Sims is ready at a way cheaper cost.

Miluakee & Boston have a 2 year chip window out of the east under the current cap restrictions. Goal is to capitalize with Embiid and Brunson as pillars putting us in chip contention over the next 4-5 years as the East becomes completely wide open. Harris-OG-Hart around Embiid & Brunson is a strong strong core that compliment each other.
