OBI's camp probably pushed for it....he was trying to get paid..so I don't blame him

The Knicks could have held him till the end of the year as a useful piece of the roster. They didn't need to do his "camp" favors. He could become a UFA and get paid just as well as he will now. We don't need two second round picks in the high 50's. They are garbage.

Obi is CAA. They did him a favor. The same way we get some benefits because of our CAA ties we have to also do right by CAA repped players even if it means to give someone up for less than you would like. It is a give and take. If we held our own CAA repped players hostage why would any others CAA repped player like OG want to come here?

What are you talking about? Hostage? We drafted the kid, and he had a backup role. Just like he has a backup role in Indy. How was he a hostage?

Not providing an opportunity for playing time.

I don't know how to say it better but that's what 100% happened. I have zero insight and it's still at least 99% what happened and most likely 100%.

There was probably a lot of yelling back and forth too but they worked it out.

Leon was an agent representing players and THEIR interests. He knows the deal.

There was a real risk of losing him outright and two-second rounders are better than nothing. Thibs just wasn't feeling him and Obi definitely wasn't re-signing. The fact that Thibs was like "I can replace Obi with a 6'4" wing and not lose much" tells you everything you need to know.

What I mean by hostage is he was never going to get enough playing time here to show teams he deserves a good contract in the summer. He also started having outbursts by the end of last season. We all know Obi is not that kind of player. It shows just how frustrated he was with his minutes.

He might still be a backup PF but he is getting more time than he did with us. He is also playing with a PG that fits his style of play. He averaged 15.7 minutes a game for us last season. He is getting 23.2 minutes a game and has a chance to close games like he did in PHX.

It's pretty funny how since the invention of the internet everyone has become accustomed, nah that's not it, entitled to information instantaneously. Some of you sound like children demanding their updated injury report. We all need to re-learn patience. Knowing the latest up to date injury status isn't going to change the outcome or the recovery time. It is what it is.

It's times like this that you can tell who the mature mentally stable individuals are on this message board.

What Rookie meant to say is Smoke 'em if you got em or have a drink or 2 and enjoy the Bot findings. Otherwise, the rest of you lamers just need to go outside for a walk in the park or PornHub and Chill.

So anyway, are we trading Randle yet?
VDesai @ 1/29/2024 10:52 AM
Not sure why we don't grab Bismack Biyombo for a 10 day - he was averaging over 6 boards in limited minutes earlier this year. With woj saying weeks not months, someone for depth that can add 15-20 mins off the bench would be great.

Obi cursed Thibs out in the playoffs, I believe. Said that he can't coach. Pretty sure they both mutually wanted to part ways to avoid locker room distractions.

Well if Randle is back in weeks, I say let’s throw a keger and trash the joint

BingBong @ 1/29/2024 2:32 PM
Should be interesting tonight to see how the Knicks handle the situation with Randle out. My guess, Achuiwa starts, and perhaps dabble with Sims as a backup...or Hart if Thibs thinks that works. I hope they weather the storm with what they have, rather than panic and make a trade using up some of our valuable assets for a rental. I don't know the rules about bringing up one of the players in the Westchester League, but it would be interesting to see how Jacob Tobbin responds with some floor time on the big dance floor under NYC lights.

This is an opportunity of Achuiwa's life, and I hope he proves he's more than just a "throw-in" during the trade of a far bigger name. I hope he shows grit and hustle, and that he's a valuable part of the team tonight and in the future. If he is what I think he can be, the trade becomes the steal of the decade. I'll be watching closely tonight.

Precious Time.

Alpha1971 @ 1/29/2024 3:16 PM
For the next few weeks if Precious can shoot 37 percent from 3 and grab rebounds he will make himself a pretty penny for next year
KnickDanger @ 2/2/2024 2:28 PM
Regardless of whether one thinks the Obi trade was "stupid" (I don't and never did but whatever), it appears that Precious > Obi. Especially for this Knicks team. Precious plays both big man spots where we needed depth and is doing well and is apparently a "Thibs guy." For the time being we have our backup we were all concerned about (with varying degrees of intensity and thoughtfulness). Hallelujah.

THat, or are we a system/Culture team that can fill in certain types snd they perform? Sort of what good teams do year after year? Like Miami?

Not my words but its been written “Play to the system/coach and Thibs gets you paid”.
Maybe not here, but players are coming here and elevating their careers. IHart, Randle, Brunson. Josh Hart, IQ and RJ all doing well. OG came here and he was Kawhi fucking leonard for a few weeks!

I give precious credit, but are there others at lower pricing? ALso, it he a dog, or just one that wants to get paid and will chill once settled? I don’t know, but I have to ask.
