Feels real to me even if the 3pt% is gonzo. His shot is fluid, his D is solid, and the decision-making is at a different level.
Can't say it better than this:
His shooting form is WAYY better and more fluid and so is his confidence. No hesitation or jerk in the release and we've actually seen him step up and volunteer to shoot a technical FT too. That said - he improved his shot in the 2020 season (40% from 3 and 75% from FT) and then it fell off in 2021/2022 so it's hard to say whether we should buy into it for the whole season just yet.

Yep, time will tell. Feels legit?

Only 23, it's great. Plus, his ascension will hopefully positively impact Randle.
It wasn't that long ago we were begging management to draft and DEVELOPE players and we have 3 players in RJ, Rob and IQ who were drafted and developed into really good players and even better professionals. You never get any drama with these 3. They are foundational players and I hope they are here for a long time. Playing here in NYC isn't easy and these 3 handle everything as well as you can. Kudos to management, the coaches and especially them for coming along so well and the best part...they are still growing and will get even better!!

McBride got him by a couple of months but point taken! Younger than IQ/Grimes too.
Dang

Like Nalod never told y'all how young he is??? LOL.....
Its allgood. Glad he off to a good start and hope he is this guy and still more. I usually peg these guys to age 25 and then you know what you got.
Im liking this version of Randle also. Assist leader thus far?
Fun team to watch. Only one stinker thus far. BEAT BOSTON!!!
He's practically an embryo!!!

Nalod was right!!! And his patience is rivaled only by that of Thibs' stubbornness!!!

He's doing all the important Things Martin We fans thought his talent was capable of early on in Barrett's career
He also seems to enjoy NY as his fan base never fully turned on him. Perhaps RJ turned on himself when things was not
going well. Call it maturity? to mesh with his skills and teammates.
Glad for RJ , I'd like to see continued success and his hunger for NY Kingdom (Knickbockers) success.
We will see, stay tuned !

Ig RJ emerges as a bonafide all star that would be the fulfillment of so many hopes for us Knicks fans. Team wouldn't need to empty the resources seeking another star but could make trades or use our picks to build around the nucleus with players like Boston did with KP and Jrue.

I just found this picture from his rookie season. He's grown so much!
I hope it's real. I haven't been a fan of RJ up to this point for all the reasons listed about his decision making and most obviously his shooting that hasn't improved for years.
We need him to be at least a consistent 40% type 3pt shooter to help keep defenses honest. With our Mitch/Hartenstein center combo, which I love, we are in a position where we have to have the other 4 guys on the floor be legitimate threats from 3 for spacing to let them also do their thing with getting to the bucket. If teams don't respect him and Julius from 3, or neither like last year, it makes everything that much more difficult for them and our guards like it was in the Heat series, especially when defenses tighten up in the playoffs.

Comedy gold
Of course now that he's good, he's oft-injured
Not jumping on this RJ is great now bandwagon --- just yet.
I love the results but really don't see much if any change to the game --- he's making shots.
We've seen him go thru big swings before --- even season to season but again I don't see him moving quicker, faster on either end of the court - he's just scoring efficiently (which is great).
Hope he keeps it up - he mostly plays smart and is showing decent effort defensively - he is easy to root for -- hope this is all legit and is repeatable for next 8-10 years.

Not sure I see the change you are talking about - I've seen the full hold the hand high on plenty of bricks and airballs in the past - I just think he's making buckets and maybe that is indeed because he's worked to shoot better but someone would have to show me some clips of how his stroke is new/different.
