He played very solid against Heat but in my view his stats have looked better than his movement —- I basically see the same sluggish movement, sketch handle with lots of fumbling the dribble and he just looks the same —— his stats are better but hope he doesn’t come a crashing down.

Thought we should have went Brunson, IQ, Hart, Randle, Hart down the stretch but Thibs went back to Mitch/RJ

Now watch Randle’s soft azz help defense for the game winner? He doubled booker like he was a normal player. Dudes a star who was already on fire. Soft.

Please trade this guy while he still has value. Great offensive player who can carry a team. 2x AllStar and a great example of a solid dependable and available player. I still want him traded, even for a lateral move.

That last effort on defense was it. Not enough urgency when we all know you have to double booker sooner. Randle sat back and was delayed a second and it cost us.

JB the “Brunson Burner”

Another wasted JB night. The closer who always comes to play. If only he had more stars around him.

Why is arguably our worst defender in the game on a 1 possession- 1 shot scenario where they were targeting him most of the night.

I thought he earned the playing time in 4th over his offense but in a 1 shot game in line possession get Grimes prevented IHart or Donte in for Julius

This game should not have even been close with them down two super-friends.

I love Mitch, but iHart should not have come out in the 4th quarter.

This

We actually shot 11 more FT’s if you want to measure it that way but if you want to see superstar reffing what the whistles Greek/Lillard are getting

100% agree on the soft ass help from Randle, he didn’t trap like the game was on the line. He walked over like an asshole with awful body language. If he traps with urgency Booker can’t get the angle he needs to elevate.

This was a disgraceful loss at home. Period. They were missing two starters and a star.

Thibs needs a quicker leash when things aren’t working. He allows them to fall in too big of a hole to dig themselves out of.

Grimes is the biggest mystery to me. He just doesn’t have the killer instinct on offense. You watch IQ come in and he just knows how to get his shot and score. His defense has been fantastic, but almost want him on the second unit so he gets more touches and can handle the ball a little. DDV might be better with the starters with his play making to help the ball stick less.

But starts and ends with Julius, quick decision gets results.

Tough loss. Have to take advantage of teams at home when they sit out their stars. But give Booker credit. He made a tough shot (same spot as Butler last game) over two guys. And give the Suns credit too. Their role players stepped up with cupcake sitting out with an ouchy. Goodwin, Little and Matu just killed us. I was really annoyed with the defense on Gordon. It's like we didn't plan for him or ever saw him play. He is a vet and a known knock down three point shooter and we gave him an island to shoot freely. And the we got Knicked on the glass which was surprising.

But we fought. Brunson was great. Wished he made that last three. Randle was a monster in the third. RJ was quiet. Grimes is in a slump. He played some decent D on Booker at times which is his main role but he's got to known down some shots. He's too good of a shooter to just be shooting under 40% from the field and just 36% from three on the season. He's got to be better.

Good question. I thought the criticism of Randle was a little over the top on the final possession. He could have hedged and tried to turn Booker back or gotten a better contest but that is hindsight. He didn't foul and Booker took a difficult shot. I'll take that defense from Randle however if you think different personnel probably have played it better questioning why Randle was in that spot to begin with is a valid question.

A great shot made by a great player to close a close game.
We don't have anyone at that caliber on the team.
Brunson is very very good, an allstar. So is Randle.
This is still a 47 win type team. PhX now won 7 straight with and without Durant. Since Booker came back they are killing it.
Individual talent says "We should have won". Its frustrating but for Real Randle is not a top tier guy, never was so not sure why we hate on him.
Plug and play who starts vs Who finishes is not the same. WHo finishes gets the call.
Vs. Miami. Sometimes IQ is part of the problem and the solution.
Grimes? The goal as I see it is to keep playing him until it clicks. He is getting close.
He should do what fans say or what his coaches want him to do?
Why take out Ihart? Players who play hard get fatigued.

IQ walked into the league with an over-confidence / swagger about him from very start where a kid like Grimes has struggled with his confidence dating back to his failed tenure at Kansas - he just doesn’t believe or is afraid to make an error. Grimes has all the ability but the longer this goes the more it becomes who he is.

Heard on pod this am someone said Grimes plays like he is running from the cops —— fast & scared —- until he overcomes that we got mister hit & miss & disappear.

All over the place here - what are you saying?

Grimes starts for his D and is arguably our best defender.

Last 2 games - both final shots basically at the buzzer by the opposition and Grimes was on the bench (I think).

Interesting juxtaposition. IQ used to be the same way; want to say the first half of last season IQ was hesitant for long stretches.

Grimes gotta do better.

If Grimes starts because he’s our best defender. Then IQ should start so that Grimes can play in crunch time (since Thibs sits his starting SG in the 4th quarter).

With this current team, Grimes is not the only defender Thibs can put on booker type players.

I believe we have similar players now who can impact on defense and provide Grimes like d on key players. To me these players can all guard the top guards in the league.

Grimes
IQ
Hart
DDV

Whether it’s the coach or players. It’s clear we are not quite there and only a few marginal moves away or large move like adding Embiid works. And personally I’m just tired of watching Randle's bad defense and bad body language.

we lost the game in the first quarter

Can't keep expecting to win games falling behind by 15+ ann clawing your way back in. Eventually the odds are gonna even out and the other team is going to start stopping those runs.

Agreed grimes hasta go back to the bench. I havent seen any development since hes been here

I’m not sure if this (iso heavy) system fits grimes.
I’m also a little disturbed at RJ who could not drive past a center who was guarding him away from the basket.

Not sure this iso heavy system fits the Playoffs.

I don't think it fits me either. Especially when Randle is one of the people getting most of the ISOs.

I seen this years ago about Randle. It takes others much longer to figure out he is just not good enough. Sadly some of those people who are late to the party run the team and now we have little to no chance of unloading him. Brunson is not my type of PG but I think he is good enough to win with. You just need to stop wasting time with a fake like Randle and give him a real Star. Randles cap should have been easy to spot by the end of his first All NBA season. His diet of shots are all tough. He made them that one season but once the playoff came and teams actually gameplanned they were to low percentage and he turned into one of the worst in playoff history. The signs were there but people chose to ignore them. I think the same exact thing would have happened in the second playoffs but I'll give him a break due to him hurting his ankle. He is just slow to make decisions and often makes the wrong one. His shot are all too tough to rely on when teams D up. This is why she stinks in the clutch.
