Knicks FO has shown us the mold. Pretty much every player on the Knicks is 2-way or Trade Randle.

Of course trade Randle!

If only it was as simple as trading Randle. We can’t replace what he does and the attention he draws. Just have to live with his flaws. Similar to what it was with Melo.

I think you are spot on. The Randle move will come much later on. It’ll be interesting to see what his next contract will be.

I’m not against any trade that improves the team. But you don’t dump a guy with his production for magic beans because he gave you a thumbs down.

So trade Randle aside, you can’t help but think there will be a trade at some point. My guess is it would be along the lines of getting Josh Hart last year. It looks very likely the Knicks will have two first rounders somewhere in the 20s plus a couple of high second rounders. You add a couple of those to Fournier’s expiring plus ? Also guessing it would be a player from a non contender. Who is really a practical target?

True. IMHO I t’ll come when the Knicks are in true contention territory and the decision is whether or not Randle’s mental gaffes that sometimes are there for quarters, games, weeks, months… if they are worth holding onto to get over the top.

He could turn it around. Who knows.

And you definitely don’t undersell.

OG.

If if if OG/CAA convinces Raptors he is gone. That’s the only way.

Fournier, Rokas, and lots of picks.

Figure out the rotation and minutes later on.

That’s the first player that comes to mind. Just don’t know if Raps would do business with the Knicks. Perhaps as you say he forces their hand. Figure they would ask for IQ with the picks. We shall see.

Yes, agree with all this.

And I do think it’ll be IQ Fournier with picks.

You kind of need to wait and see which teams collapse over the course of the season. That's why I think Marcus Smart might be a good guy to look at. I'm not sure where he fits into the rotation but I think his contract is appealing and he will give some moxie to the Knicks whenever they match up with Boston.
gradyandrew @ 11/30/2023 1:19 AM
Possible moves the Knicks could make are trading Grimes and Fournier for Smart and then using the extra space created to use their TPE from trading Obi + a second round pick to the Wizards for Gallinari.
Brunson/ IQ
Smart/ DDV
RJ/ Hart
Randle/ Gallinari
Robinson/ iHart

When Ja gets back, I'd guess that DRose would be more available than Smart.

Just don't think they are moving Smart.

Gallo is a nice idea 2-3 years ago but dude is out of shape at 35yo and coming off an ACL with a year off. He seems more like the espresso and wine cafe type guy than a gym rat at this point.

The second guy I still see is Alex Caruso. He doesn’t have the size OG has but he’s still just as good of a defender and shooter for the most part. He is versatile enough as a defender to improve the team.
