Williams with 36 was +19 points over his 17 per game season avg.

Yes - toothpick thin and look ready to snap at slightest breeze but KD kind of similar and still cooking.
Imagine how much he would've crapped on iHart if he had a stack of pancakes before the game.
I mean - I thought we handled Holmgren and even Shea decently but we let the SF go for +35 without barely a miss.
I thought Chet had the entire team aside from Randle shook at the rim.
I wonder what IQ’s mindset is after nights like tonight.
If I’m in his shoes, I’m having a face to face with Thibs, and the first three words are W.T.F.

Hard to tell on IQ - give him credit for playing solidly with contract, trade and minute situations ongoing.
I have to have hope management will make the right move with IQ and I could go either way trade/sign depending on what a IQ trade might look like.
Ideally we are back to can we find a trade for RJ to boost our shooting/D/athleticism/wing length.
? Why does RJ run like he has a serious and permanent case of crotch rot?

Well - yes he certainly is a big time shot blocker who is smart and doesn't over commit early so difficult to get near the rim without considering where he is.

If it was me? I'd be looking at the tax rate for every state with a NBA team in it. I'd also start on my tasteful farewell letter to Knicks fans explaining why I'm taking my talents to another franchise. Maybe a press conference at a local Boys & Girls club in Westchester.
Thibs was asked about the substitution after the game.
Answered with some word spaghetti and talking about matchups, size, sacrifice, blah blah blah.
I reject your shitty answer, Thibs. Get your head out of your ass.
RJ, get back in the gym. Shoot 3’s and free throws until you can’t lift your damn arms.

Like I said - I'd be embarrassed if I made that sub because there literally was no logic outside of staying on a kid's good side or maybe cosmetics for trades.
Last 18 games or roughly 25% of season - RJ shooting (40% FG), (26% 3FG) with ~ 1 to 1 Assist to TO ratio and an overall -71 +/- while overall team is a +5 in that span.
I could live with a lot of stuff if RJ simply moved better but got damn does he move like an old timer (bet Jeff Green still moving better than RJ)

It's really that his legs aren't NBA legs - well that and his handle and touch and........

Shai is like "See? This the crap I had to deal with in FIBA!"

Jalen Williams is sort of what we want RJ to be.
Bottom line is Quickley deserves more minutes, it’s not a secret. And it’s not going to come at the sacrifice of Barrett’s minutes. He’s the only big-ish wing on the team and most able to put pressure on the rim outside of our 2 stars. So where do the minutes come from? If we want to get Quickley starter’s minutes as a 6th man the rotation would have to knock down to 8. Grimes would be removed from the rotation outside of spot minutes and you can get Quickley up to 30 mins while keeping DDV and Harts minutes in the high 20s as well. That’s the only real alternative.
If Thibs had pulled IQ for EF to end the game, my reaction would have been the same.

I will be very surprised if IQ is back next season. I doubt Quickley will have a dust up with Thibs over PT because he knows he's going to get paid somewhere. All he has to do is keep playing hard, and he will likely have a larger role on another team.
This whole mess started IMO when Grimes vaulted ahead of Quickley on the depth chart, in spite of not having the game (yet) to do it. I know part of it was keeping IQ at backup PG, but we have 2 more on the bench as well.
I missed the 4th quarter but sounds like Thibs was getting in his own way again over thinking his subs. Or not adjusting on the fly. His structure can sometimes help and also hurt.
I feel for IQ and fans.
I have not said much about Thibs this season because it is the same stuff that been happening for years that people somehow defend. Why would you expect different? Obi is not an all star but in those games when he was clearly having a better game and Thibs still brought Randle in happened so frequently you can't act pissed off or surprised about it happening now. This was to be expected.
I worry about this team when our defense is 15th-20th and not 5th-10th ranked. We were 3rd in DRTG with Mitch. We have completely lost our edge there. We are not built to outscore teams. I don't think we are very good trying to emulate what we did last year (top 5 offense and bottom 15 defense). I think we need to find someone who can emulate some of what Mitch does and try to get back to our 2 headed monster in the paint.
The Quickley / RJ sub was embarrassing but not the reason we lost the game. Our inability to defend or get stops anymore is a problem. We don't have the firepower to hang with most teams.
Wondering what kind of expiring contract defensive Cs are out there ... I was thinking a Capela or Poeltl but Capela has an extra year and Poeltl would only work if we traded Mitch because he's locked in long term.
