signing DDV makes more sense now in terms of asset management. he will give us most of what IQ did at half the price.

If we are not trading for a star I think it is time we start using our picks. So many teams got good players in recent drafts.

Once he turned down the 20per that was his end with us. Time will tell who was right or wrong.

Very accurate. Lateral move at best presently but I would argue slightly worse.
Everything hinges on the next move which seems inevitable. Hoping its for the right guy.
We traded a 1st round pick for Cam Reddish
We drafted Obi Toppin over arguably a top 15 player
Hard to trust the above

I think we will really see a push by NY front office to use those assets

Yeah I have zero confidence in Leon right now.
Let him make it up in the next deal.
Alan Hahn of ESPN just now.
Knicks got better defensively but gave up a lot offensively.
They wouldn't have made trade if they weren't confident they could extend him.
Prelude to a possible trade for a guard. Mentioned both Murray and DM.
Sounded confident Knicks would try for one of them.
nycericanguy wrote:i gotta say after seeing Obi and Cam elsewhere I trust our talent evaluation more now.
Knicks brass have had a pretty good finger on the pulse of the team for awhile. Even the Hart move no one wanted or expected or thought we needed, then once he started playing we saw how much he filled some areas we were lacking.
The optimist in me thinks we will see how much getting the right "fit" in the starting lineup with Brunson and Randle will make a difference beyond our expectations. OG is exactly the type of player you want next to those two.
It's a shame we can't see Mitch and OG together - we could be the best D in the league with those two and Grimes.
I don’t love the trade because of losing Quickley. I have a concern for shot creation on the roster. But we got the best player in the deal. And no draft picks outgoing means this could be a precursor for a big deal for either Murray or Mitchell down the line.

RJ was one of my favorite players, but he just wasnt improving offensively. Our starting lineup got better offensively sorry to say.
we certainly lost some offense with IQ, but if you up the minutes for Jart, DDV and Grimes now it will minimize that alot.
ANd of course DJ makes a ton more sense now so we'll see what happens there.

I think the Knicks will target Murray but I would prefer DM.

there's a real path to winning also if we dont get a star
We have a ton of draft picks to flesh out the roster.
Mitch + OG = the death of your pick and roll
Brunson + Randle = a lot of kick outs.
People are also overlooking having OG and Thibs together. This is a great fit.
Knicks got the best player and one of the hardest pieces in the league to get. He's our Kris Middleton

for sure but DJ looks very attainable now for a much smaller package. DM probably wouldn't be available until seasons end at best.
Still not on board, but trying to take a step back.
Deuce and Grimes are now what's left of "the kids".

Mitch is 25 and homegrown also.

If they feel they can get DM at seasons end I don't think they are gonna force another trade. Mitch is out, this isn't "our year". They can wait until the offseason for DM.

Yeah if the choice is Murray now or DM in the off season I am definitely waiting.

Point taken, but longest tenure Knick - Mitch is "the Vet" at this stage!!!
I love this trade. OG is a great fit on this roster. Wings like OG are impossible to get. This is a major upgrade to the SL. Too bad about IQ but he needs to start and that wasn’t happening here. This does open a path for our Euro stash PG. In the meantime I happen Deuce can capitalise on his opportunity. Precious should also fit right in with the second unit. Dude plays his ass off. You gotta love the effort guys.
