Two weeks ago bro. YOu got all sensitive. Too soon you at it again?

I understand Nalod, most of the posters you incessantly call out dont respond. Im sure you like it that way. Not used to someone throwing it right back at you. Thats "sensitivity".

This recent go-round started when I said that I would rather hear dissenting views, than posters coming back with nothing other than that poster's motivation for not liking an aspect of said player's game. Trying to enforce a kind of groupthink. Discouraging opposing views by making it all about the poster.

Some of the same cast of characters chime in, to what disagree? I was sticking up for another poster, and you found a way to make it all about you bro. Hence the problem.

Not sure I really understand where your coming from or where your going. Seems you find new folks to get chaffed over then start telling that person what kind of poster they are.

Fournier, Kemba, Reddish, Obi... obviously mistakes, but they straight up signed Brunson, DD and IHart as FAs. Homegrown are Mitch and Grimes, the rest we traded for and are on reasonable contracts and we have all our FRP picks +4 others (at least 2 will convey).

We are probably a player away, but we have seen really good development with Thibs over time so maybe that guy is here (OG) or it turns out IHart is a late bloomer and becomes a Jokic quality passer (just spitting here). Point is right now we have a puncher's chance vs. any team. Nobody wants to deal with this defense and physical play with Brunson finishing games.

I am really enjoying this and hoping everyone else is too. How many in a row we winning????

The whole row's worth

I think the key point is just to ignore what other people say and stay firmly committed to your views. Since before the season started I have been saying that the key for this team to improve is to get rid of RJ. In the post just previous I restated the point, yet you still consider RJ as part of the "high price" rather than realizing that including RJ vs EF's salary is likely the reason we had to give up a third mid level draft pick we don't have a roster spot for in a weak draft.

Not sure about "groupthink" comment. This site exists because it's a lot of independent thinkers taking time to develop arguments about the team they love rather than a single journalist and a bunch of comments.

Gus…just reading your post and for what it’s worth, I agree.

I rather have a forum where it’s open to talk without the bashers simply waiting in the weeds to lash. Have a backbone and invite diversity of thought. It’s ok if fans don’t agree. MS made a good point at the time. Nobody knew OG would have this kind of impact. I knew IQ was ready to be a starter and RJ would excel without Randle next to him.

I still don’t like Randle, but I understand he’s the best we can get right now regarding his contract value and wanting to play in NY for Thibs. You rarely find players like that. Now RJ is gone, Randle looks better. Same negative body language sometimes and that EF type defense in the paint, especially when he’s guarding the rim. But if that’s my only complaint, then that’s a good thing. He’s still a 20 and 10 guy who can carry a team on offense. OG can carry a team on defense. They compliment each other well.

Chemistry is better than individual talent. That’s what we are seeing right now. I’m not sure I want to mess with this starting unit. W e can’t assume DDV will be the same player off the bench. Leons next move will be very interesting. It’s like adding a new ingredient to a dish that already taste great. It might taste better or it might taste worst. Tread lightly Léon. Don’t mess this up.

Ewingsglass clearly had an inkling- dude hasn't shut up about OG for two seasons.

I have been saying since before the start of the season that just not playing RJ was the key to this team playing better.

Not sure why you still can't accept that Randle is a top 20 player in the league. He has improved his game in 3 of 4 seasons. The key ingredient to our rise to the top was Randle breaking out. Kudos to Thibs for seeing this and giving him the keys to the car.

Knicks have been all about flexibility. As someone pointed out, some of Leon's moves haven't worked but he's always been able to get out of them and try ones that do. In Leon we trust.

I didn't like your argument that we paid a high price for OG not your argument about groupthink.

The way I see it:

Detroit 2nd round pick (which if I'm being honest, I wasn't aware we even had) to get out of RJ's contract

IQ for OG and Achiuwa (Knicks needed a big after MRob went down and Sims wasn't impressive)

Also, don't forget- IQ wanted that starters salary and wasn't planning on?coming back. Seems like Knicks gave up - half of year of IQ, a net negative starter in RJ with an onerous contract, and a draft pick we couldn't use.

Im very glad you arent my buddy because you're spineless.

Spent most of last season being called every name in the book because I commited the grave sin of suggesting that Randle isnt clutch, and a trade should be made if an upgrade was available. Which I still believe we should do in the offseason, if nothing has changed.

All of a sudden posters who Ive had years of great discussions with, were calling me every name in the book. Saying flat out that I wasnt a real fan, among other things. New posters showed up and old posters encouraged more of the same.

My mistake apparently is refusing to be cowered. Some of the same people complaining about my behavior are the same ones who have made a point of trying to make differences about hoops personal. As they used to say in NY, "dont start none, wont be none".

My frequent run-ins are with posters who just cant stand to hear that someone else doesnt feel the same way about their favorite player, coach, exec. Thats your problem, not mine. It becomes my problem when you make it about me, and not my opinions about hoops.

Nothing wrong with riding MS a little for his hot take. But he's a long time poster, and his biggest mistake wasnt insulting other posters who dont agree with him. Which he never does. It was not liking the trade. A lot of posters didnt like the trade.

At some point, weeks and games into the trade, you still wont give it a rest. This isnt about me, its about some of you.

Just like in real life, if someone it getting beat up, and there’s an opportunity to step on them when nobody is looking, cowards will do that. Not saying everyone because this site has more positives than negatives.

In general fans, speak your minds about the team, even if it sounds crazy. Briggs was great at doing this and it created a nice buzz. I miss that dude. Blkexec. I this post is a good moment to take a pause. I’m making a bunch of jokes here while it lasts because for now, this move sounds amazing.

Looking back, I made a lot of the same arguments about Cam Reddish that I did OG. In fairness, I wanted Cam to be OG which is more of a motor issue than a size issue. 3 point shooter worth 7 foot wingspan and point of attack defense.

I also thought Kevin Knox could be a Kevin Durant like smooth offensive player.

I thought Frank Ntlikina could lock down PG like a Rondo.

I was more right about swapping Fournier out for Grimes than wrong. But the right was swapping out Fournier more than Grimes was ready.

When it’s also said and done, we all have opinions about how this game should be played. How the team should run. Which players are going to take off. Which players are failing.

And being right now doesn’t always mean being right forever.

I loved Allan Houston but never thought he should have gotten that contract.

Never understood the Ewing trade for Glen Rice.

I loved the NeNe trade.

There’s decades of right or wrong on this board. I’m living in the right now cause this is the best time I’ve had as a Knick fan since 1999. 2013 was starphuch basketball. Without 1993 to 1999, I mean, do all us 40 year old dudes become Nets fans? That’s where I learned to love the Knicks. Throwing up L’s arms on the asphalt.

This right here is OG NY basketball. It can set the tone for a generation of Knick fans. I just want to be in this moment as a fan as long as it lasts. Don’t really care if people loved or hated the trade, we all deserve to enjoy this right here.

Speaking for myself, and probably others, we all like critical thinking and original thinking. I hsve learned a lot on this board from it.

But calling it groupthink when people agree is dumb. It’s often used as a pejorative to insinuate the person isn’t thinking for themselves. That of course can happen but i wouldn’t call this forum as the place where that generally occurs

An opinion being original doesn’t mean it’s wise or good. There are plenty of dumb ones

Likewise the fact that a lot of people agree on something doesn’t make it dumb because it’s “unoriginal”. Consent as a cornerstone of morality is old, unoriginal and I’d say wise. One can question that — and think of themselves as provocateur geniuses — but I’ll still probably think of them as immature dumbasses

I also find it laughable and a little narcissistic (or a lot) when people go around trying to defend themselves saying all they’re being is original….

PREACH.

Hard to disagree with anything you said. I share the same expectations for Cam and Frank. Knox I was on the fence but trusted the Kentucky pipe line.

Yes, let’s enjoy this OG era and this Leon era. As you said, the older we get the more we appreciate these moments in time.

Let’s see how this OG cultural Knick team do against our longtime arch rival. Thibs never smiled so hard in a post game press conference and players locker room appears to be a joyful place to be. Regardless how upset Randle might be due to any off court stuff (if any). This team now appears to be his home away from home. I haven’t seen his whisperer in a while 🤔.

Right now is one of the greatest moments in Knick history to be a fan (While I was alive and I might be living in the moment). I’m old enough to remember the entire Ewing era and I loved it. A little boring to me since it was all about defense and low scoring. What we have right now is a perfect mix of half court talent, defensive specialists and transition basketball. Love it. I’m at the point now, I don’t give a damn about any fan that disagrees with me. I have too much joy for this team from Leon down to deuce. (Martin you know I had to throw deuce in there somewhere) 🤣

One more thing about deuce, now that he’s been getting plenty of PT. He’s not a floor general like JB. But he’s a lock down defender who can hit baseline 3s. He’s a mini OG. Lacks the handle (which can be fixed) but has the DNA of a solid 3 and D player.

Good take. I have read posts about games that Clyde has made a point about. I listen to “The hoop collective” all the time and those ideas are in my head and I have to be careful to not make them my own. What I call dudes out on is when they are making shit up as if they are in the know. Just state its an opinion and not pretend to know what Leon is thinking or pretend Brock Aller or Rosas are not part of the process. I read plenty of things I don’t agree with here every day but its not for Nalod to refute everything I don’t agree with. IF the take is well done, I am being either entertained or informed.

Why the 3rd party thing? I refer to “Nalod” In the 3rd person because here thats who I am. I learned to mostly stay away from the politic thing, or other personal items and if its just hope, its just Nalod who speaks.

Gustav, Your takes at times get a bit into the realm like your an innercircle member of the team. YOur not. When challanged you take it personal. Then you bite back. That stands out more than anything. I’d lighten up on that.
BTW, its not about free speech. We are all guests of Martin and he foots the bill. No ads here to even cover costs. I’d say he is more than reasonable.
Many of us exist for 20 plus years mostly by keeping it real. I don’t run off malcontents, they run themelves off by not adhering to the norm which is mostly self governed. IF one is not happy with what happens here or is told to knock it off by the Admin and chooses to not agree then they are banned. Very rare that happens. Usually they just go away in a huff as “its not me, its others”. Look in the mirror, you are saying this of late.
Really, I have not read much that sees you as being victimized. Mostly you lack any humility to understand that we all suck from time to time and have to tap out and say “My bad”, or “I missed that”. Or just let it go. Perhaps double down and defending a view, and opinion and taking that personal is not healthy.

Lighten up GUS, I have not made a study of you until you called me out and it was lame. Your not lame, your post challanging me was lame. I don’t know you? YOu don’t know me. You only know “Nalod”. If you really wanted to study me you’ll know I paint myself at times snarky, pompous, and come off as high and mighty because I look up facts and things in the context and try to put it proper. Running a team is hard when you have windows to make decisions. Its easy to rail about Haliburton being passed over for Obi but there was much about covid shutdown, draft was months later than normal, teams could not bring in guys for tryout, etc etc. Its disrespectful to the Professonals in the NBA to think fans are smarter when we rarely scratch the surface to what entails what these guys do. At least have a clue of what one does not know! Im sure its annoying to the poster when I do this but facts keep the conversations going not bullshit. Painting an opinon as facts is not healthy to the collective efforts made by participants in this forum.

Briggs posted pictures of himself, discussed his health issues, his investments, his politics, his wife, Daughter, etc. He posted his name, we know has family did not survive the holocaust, he had a rough childhood, he was an active equity trader, bought a muscle car, his wife was a nurse. He lives in CT, he gave his value proposition about why he voted for Trump and many other subjects as well many times which really opens things up, he was lifting weights, he thinks he looks a lot like Troy Aikman. I can go on. HE TOLD US ALL THIS……So why is he not here? I cannot tell you if he was banned for just left but he was told many times to not go into certain subjects. In the end we either agree to uphold the norms that work for a forum or leave. Last I saw I think he really endorsed Ramiswarmy which was his right, but it got nasty because it was a very personal subject. He could have been wrong about him as his campaign and issues were picked apart by general media and by posters but by not responding he did not say “Oh, my bad”. So in fact he endorsed him by his silence. Same for Trump. I don’t care what your personal views are but I have a daughter and Trump does not behave well with women. Trump defended both sides as “Good people” after Nazi rally in charlottesville. See my issues with Briggs statements? How can a man who who lost family in the nazi germany promote Trump after his comments? There are no good “Nazis” if your the president of the united states.

To be fair, in the first few years I was here Martin called me out and sent me two personal messages via e-mail to knock of certain stuff or be banned. Really, it was my choice. Its not free speech issue, this is his house and we are guests. How we react to what goes on here is on us.
IF you want to go after “Nalod” that don’t bother me. Nalod knows what he is here. Its part of my personalty I suppose but not all of it.

Nalod, thanks for the details on Briggs. I’m just glad he’s ok and not sick or worse. I think everybody on this forum is a little weird or crazy (including me). Can’t be a Knicks fan for over 20 yrs and not have any issues.

But we all know time doesn’t wait for no one. Enjoy this moment in time. All my old friends are now coming out saying Knicks look good. I’m like kick rocks. They called me crazy for even being a fan (life of a Knick fan outside of the tri-state area). I went through years of getting verbally beat up by non Knick fans. Thank you Martin for providing an outlet for us suffering fans hungry for a chip.

“Beat the Heat”

I would love to see a massive blowout, but I would take a close win. The heat will bring their best since we on such a high, so be ready. We only one OG injury away from being below average (in my opinion). I would love to add another OG-lite player off the bench, whoever that is. I’m always afraid of OG and others playing too much during the season and burnt out come playoff time. Prove me wrong Thibs.

Nalod, I appreciate your thoughts and perspective, thank you.

I have banned BRIGGS. Love him as a fellow Knicks enthusiast and poster. I have personally reached out to and exchanged several emails with him asking Briggs to cool it on the politics stuff on this site (I may be incorrect on this but he may be the second person I’ve emailed offline about this sort of circumstance and subsequently took action when that person and I couldn’t get to a firm understanding of how to move forward). I am AOK with differing opinions and thoughts, however I do have a line with Trump supporters and other similar level stuff (ie., if you initially register and post to site and your first couple of posts all you do is go on a wildly inappropriate level of trash, I just auto lock that person, who probably is 13yo and thought it was funny to start calling everyone else a dickbag or worse, you get the example, I don’t waste time like that).

In the Vivek thread, it’s easy to pick out those who may be sympothetic to Trump or that swath of person and politician, I have never had an inkling of thought of banning them. We can disagree and you can be dumb, that’s OK to me, just don’t be rock bottom dumb, cause I’ll make you look even dumber by pointing out facts to you (I am deeply into the political waters in my personal life, so at least I’m armed with lots of info you may not be, whatever my leaning may actually be).

We are all adults here and that’s the level I am going to try to interact on. I also get out of line on occasion myself and try to feel out how others (outside who I am getting after) respond to both of us, I get that too and appreciate that level of feedback to me.

However, if you - ie. BRIGGS - repeatedly let me know you will cool it with the political stuff, I’ll cut you some slack if you innocuously engage a few posts here and there that are within that realm. If I have reminded you over 4 to 5 years and we’ve both acknowledge to each other that you’ll stay away from the Trump politics many multiple times… and then you personally start a Vivek political thread and continue to engage in that thread, you need to fuck off, and that is me trying to be polite.

The last I had left it with BRIGGS is that he needs to come up with a solution that he and I both feel comfortable with him posting on this site about Knicks, cause I dont waste any extra ounces of energy in a situation like this, I’ve already exhausted my avenues.

This is how I have engaged this situation.

I personally don’t respect Trump supporters and the like. My neighbors are incredibly nice people and good friends with me and my family and I have them over for drinks and food all the time. We help each other out all the time. They think Trump has been good for our country, I let them know I don’t agree. We have never again talked about politics and both understand that. Life is good for the both of us and we really enjoy each other’s company. It’s not that hard to come to an understanding like that. That’s what well meaning adults who have a conscious about themselves and the people around them do.
