Bring him up
Backup PF FOUND!!!
Finally
Can he get buckets? We need that too.
Watched a G league game. He stood out so I looked him up. He’s 27 y.o. Drafted in 2019 by Cleveland at the end of the 1st rd. I don’t know his story or why he hasn’t had nba minutes
If he can play D, Thibs will be interested.
Quentin Grimes has averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 3 games in his last 3 games in his career in 20.1mpg.
Showing some life. if he can do that over 30mpg and play his D he's a huge asset.
Keep Grimes and bring over Rokas this summer?
Ihart is really stepping up, he's also playing himself into a $15m contract, wonder if Mitch becomes expendable for the right trade?
I mean its hard to put this all on OG, but we have allowed only 99ppg since that trade, which is unreal in today's game.
Maybe it's OG + now Grimes and Duece getting more minutes? It's like we got 3 real plus defenders.
Thibs has been great at evaluating talent and who should play. The fact that we were willing to trade away a combined 33ppg and 60mpg tells me he was confident in Miles and Grimes filling that role.
GLeague Deyce showed up!
Not my thought but loved this analogy: “Deuce and Grimes will be different players without RJ and IQ. Just like Hartenstein is a different beast w/out Mitch.”

With Brunson at 32 minutes. This is where it’s nice 😉

Grimes should keep playing well so he raises his trade value. I like him but his development is not the reason to not make other moves. Think like an adult and not a teenage fan girl. Your free to get Grimes pajamas but think logically. If we can make a trade and retain Grimes great ! But if we trade him for a established vet to help the next few seasons then we do it no looking back.
Brunson 5-23 against Minny, Randle with a dud tonight, no sweat.
2 of the top 3 defenses in league. Skewered.

Very interesting/ telling that Knicks went right ahead and gave Precious the back-up 5 minutes immediately and even without a practice. Given Sims had some good moments I assume Thibs wanted or likes Precious.
I’m hopeful on Precious but he looks awfully small/thin to me out there and a bit robotic —— would be something if he turns into solid small ball 5 back-up.
I agree with this. He may have had a few points tonight but he doesn't look comfortable or llike he has found his place.

Grimes doesnt even need to be a different player, just be the guy he was last year, 11ppg in 29mpg, shoot the 3 well and defend well.
Still hoping he has another level but he can at least be that.
Have no issues moving him for DJM, but people talking about benching or moving him for a 34 year old Derozan is very shortsighted.
IDK why AJ Griffin has fallen completely out of favor in ATL, but maybe we could make him part of the deal too. he seems like a Grimes type prospect, odd that he doesnt play.

maybe it was the wake up call of the trade- sudden shock to people that things can't stay the same and they need better effort.
And having OG vs. RJ is a big help on D when switching, especially to larger players.

Right, not different just free, like we freed Willy.

Didn’t Sims just come back from an ankle sprain?
Longer term precious seems like back up 4, or maybe smallball 5 since he at least shoots from distsane
I think the increased ball movement is primary reason Grimes and Deuce are playing looser. They have a much better sense that the ball will move and if they get an open shot they should take it
I think we all expected better team D with OG and the length he brings etc., but odd as it sounds it may have improved offense more by providing better balance and flow
Let’s start stacking some wins!

Some said my suggestion for him to go to 2nd unit was a bad one.

its more about minutes and rhythm, he played great with the starters last year, the minutes just weren't there this year with the addition of DDV and a full season of Jhart.
I think he fits fine either way but the thought of him starting with OG defensively is scary. and DDV's scoring is probably better suited as a sparkplug off the bench.
