I like the player but... think about what trading for him would mean.
1) Deuce is benched.
2) he's an UFA this summer, are we going to pay him $15m to backup Brunson? That means almost $20m between him and Deuce.
3) even if we did decide he was worth benching Deuce and signing for $15m, would HE even want to resign him to be Brunson's backup? Just about any team even without cap space could sign him for around 15m with the MLE.
and most importantly
4)we lose Evan's contract and can't trade for a star later on.
Too many negatives for a guy that really doesn't raise our ceiling.

Tyus could start on a handful of teams in playoff contention. I think we'd be outbid on him given the role/need we have vs. what others might need him for

Love Tyus for this team even in a limited role. My concern is his expiring contract. We would have to deal Fournier for him and then we no longer have that salary going into next year to use in a potential star deal. Need to get Brogdon or Bruce brown for that purpose. Those are the names I think we are most likely to grab one of.

Im in this boat. Murray is the only clear upgrade I am hearing about, and the only guy who would be a core player moving forward. If you sold Fournier/Grimes/FRPs for Murray and then resigned IHart we could really roll with this core and see where we go:
Brunson/DJMurray/OG/Randle/IHart
bench: McBride/DD/JHart/Mitch... and that's if you play 9.

I haven't heard so much talk about "expiring contracts" as I have recently since the days of Isiah Thomas, who stockpiled them and managed to do nothing productive with them.

Is there any concern having Murray and JB , two ball dominant players, in the same back court?
I would prefer having a SG that can spread the floor not further clog it.
Devo, if given an inch, has shown he will put it up and make a high click when guys look to come off him. Imo, If we are to really upgrade at SG, it would have to be by getting a player as good as Devo from three but also elite at creating, driving and finishing.
No knock on Murray, who I feel would be really good as main PG for any team, but we already have JB.

Your scratching the surface on the layers of thought that FO/Coaches are involved in.
Tyus, or Brogdan, Murray, or others are great "Now" thoughts but there are so many "ripples of effect" if that is executed.
That includes salary slots for potential draft picks that are not traded and instead used and the potential list of players that are available to contribute or are projects. shit we can't wrap our head around. We are influenced by Clyde during the broadcast given his the historics of his assist to turnover rato on a night we suffered from that very thing: Turnovers. It then manifests to our collective thoughts and "oh, what a great idea, I always loved this kid, or what it his look alike brother?" We like lots of plays and lots of ideas that are good but FO have one window to make a decision at a specific cost. That is something lost of "Told you so" type fans.
Tyus would be a great add but the cost, and future "opportunity cost" is important. Imagine team never makes it to finals and a pick is traded, then converted to a DM type mid draft player who becomes as superstar. Granted, not that it happens on this team, but fans think it does. Fan regret is not a reason to NOT do it, but it lends itself to future planning.
