I think you can start Precious at PF or move OG to PF and start Hart or Grimes at SF.
Gallo would be a good option as a buyout candidate soon

The obvious move is to start OG at PF IMO. But Thibs might want to keep his bench unit intact because that's kinda what he does. I could see them starting Precious unfortunately.
OG at PF you could retinker the lineup to be dangerous, especially on D. But you are pretty light on reinforcements at that point. I think Thibs views our best depth piece as Jericho so he will probably utilize him to fill in for Randle.

I actually lean toward Precious at PF for the rebounding, OG isn't a particularly good rebounder.
also keeps our bench unit strong.
if not i think Hart has to start to get more rebounding at SF.

OG's rebounding has improved a bit with the Knicks, but I still wouldn't call it impressive. I'd guess Hart takes the other forward spot and Knicks move to a more uptemp style.

KnickDanger wrote:Not going to get too far ahead but those are warm winds blowing. I would have been happy if he were ready by the playoffs. Perhaps there will be some silver linings here - minutes for players like Precious or perhaps Jacob T, Randle’s legs getting a break from the long season, and maybe even JuJu finding a warmer spot in the hearts of the dislikers.
JR is a beast. Don't forget the "he played bad in playoffs" crowd. Ignoring the difficulty of playing on a bum ankle. I remember JLin sitting out in the playoffs so as to not jeopardize a big contract in the off season. Not saying it was not a smart move for Lin to do that just that Randle does not have the same mindset. Has a warriors mentality. That and his durability is often unappreciated.
Hope the injury does not take him out of beast mode. Don't want him working on his three pointer while rehabbing and getting away from that. My bet is that he will be back in 2 weeks. My hope is that the team makes him take more time.

yea i could see it either way and ultimately it doesnt matter much as I suspect we'll be closing games with OG at PF.
our defense without Randle is really gonna go to another level too, we might end up closing most games with the 3rd unit anyway...lol

Offense will be atrocious with Precious starting at the 4 I think.

this is where we are gonna miss RJ & IQ, truth is Brunson is the only creator we have that can get his own buckets. We went from having 4 of those guys to 2, and now 1.
So our offense is gonna take a hit for sure, but our defense should be better and we should still be winning these games at home.

I don't think our defense would be better with OG/Precious/iHart versus Hart/OG/iHart ... Thibs most likely does what you are suggesting though. Probably thinks we can grind out the starters minutes and keep our bench in tact. Hart will finish the games I'm sure.

Put Brunson down for 45 minutes. The Hornets should be very beatable at home. I'm looking for someone (Grimes? Deuce?) to step up their offense to pick up the slack.

Never good to fill a hole by switching ANOTHER player out of the position that has been working. So my vote is just to fill the PF spot with Sims or Precious. Let OG, IHart and Devo make up the scoring while Randle recovers.

I don't think OG's role changes that much offensively if you move him up to the four and he's guarded up and down the opposing team's lineups. Players are going to play outside their normal comfort zones anyway. It's just figuring out the move you can live with during the next couple of weeks.
KnickDanger@ 1/29/2024 12:59 PM
Echoing Woj’s blast, the Post’s Stephan Bondy reported a source informing him that though “not conclusive” - more tests are to be done - the feeling is Randle “will miss weeks not months.”
HofstraBBall@ 1/29/2024 1:00 PM
As me ruined earlier, in regards to short term trades, the issue will be replacing Randles rebounding. So feel that Precious can do that. Not worried about offense. The only other issue, imo, is how JB now handles double teams and how we shoot out of them. He will now be the target of those and not JR. Precious helps the loss with rebounding but hurts JBs options if teams double team him.
DLeethal@ 1/29/2024 1:15 PM
If Randle is just out weeks then we can simply stay the course. A move needed to be made before, it still needs to be made now, to get some scoring help. But we don't have to do anything seismic and I don't think we prioritize guys who won't fit when Randle is back. We don't really need a Randle replacement, we need scoring help and we can shift around bodies to fill the positional gaps.
OG can play the 4, Sims/Precious are young bodies who can give us a lot of mins, iHart is a beast. We are fine adding a wing scorer who can eat up minutes and just give us a scoring lift while Randle is out. We don't need to seek out a PF.
