While shooting 39% from 3 for his career!! 20 ppg average. It's a steal and a wrap. We just need to get to the playoffs with a healthy Brunson. We would be dangerous with just our depth and him as a closer.

I thought Grimes fell, off both offensively and defensively (significantly on both sides) - some pointing to his recent #s but basically nothing clutch with big #s in some huge blowouts.

Grimes shot horribly in the playoffs last year 24% on 37 attempts.

While a great kid — he never settled down or added to his game.

I am in this camp too - no idea if its just a sense or what- but he seemed to get lost a bit- some of that is guys in front like DD are just so much better at their point of their careers.

Looking forward to seeing how Thibs uses Bogs who is not known has a stout defender.

Having him opposite of OG or Hart most of the time at forward helps because he can guard the opponent’s weaker offensive player. Knicks have a lot of versatility defensively to cover. My big question is this; we know he will likely play most or all of the non-Randle minute at PF when Randle is back. But how many minutes will he see alongside Randle when they are fully healthy. Earlier this year there was a concern around having too many players for the rotation. That was obviously when everyone was healthy. Now that everyone is out, that is not a concern and really won’t be for the rest of the year. But there will be a minutes crunch eventually and I’m interested to see how it shakes out.

Power Forward: Randle 35mins/OG 13mins
Small Forward: OG 22mins/Bojan 26mins

Possibly 13mins
Randle comes out first, OG slides to PF, Randle subs in for OG, OG subs in for Bojan probably the flow of the rotation.

Thibs had Korver in 6MOY running during his best two years in Chicago as a coach. Korver was a stud on those Bulls teams.

DLeethal @ 2/9/2024 9:24 AM
Korver is very similar to Bogs in the way he plays with fire and emotion and he will battle. It's different than Evan who plays with soft feet and won't get physical.

I was dead wrong after the OGA trade and I hope I'm dead wrong here because I don't really like this trade. There was something pure and cool about having guys on the team who you drafted and now they are mostly all gone. I know Grimes didn't do himself any favors and his passive play at times and that's a big reason why we 'gave up' on him but I thought he was starting to come around with his shot and he took it to the basket a lot more and he always played great defense. I just don't like trading a 23 year old for a 32 and 34 year old.

We've had Burks here recently so we know what we're getting. He was really good for us in 2021. He can get his own shot and handle the ball which we needed. He'll help.

I do think everyone is overreacting a little bit with Bogdanovic. He's 34 and not a traditional Thibs type of player. And where is he going to play? He'll be behind Randle, OGA, Hart and Precious. Do not be surprised if he becomes Fournier on the bench and not playing.

I still think we're a second round team as long as we avoid the cHeat in round one. We can give Boston and Philly (with Embiid) a tough series but we'll be a heavy underdog in either series.

The best part of the trade is def holding onto the 1st round picks and Bogdanovic's salary to use in a trade.

DDV and Bojan can run those same actions. It'll be fun

We all hope you are dead wrong too

Grimes is the latest kick in the balls for NY's drafted own. I am only sobered by the fact that we have 2 firsts in this upcoming draft, and we will either consolidate those picks and take a player, or draft and trade and that means someone else even better is heading to the Knicks

The underlying of trading Burks/Bogs for Grimes: Knicks are going for it. And not just ECF, they GOING for it and the FO is telling you their plan. It's a good thing.

And since the Knicks are in full-on playoff mode, I have switched the way I think about having too many players on the bench. The Knicks now go into maintenance mode and let players take some games off when they need to as the team heals and preps for playoffs.

I have also started to think in terms of match-ups night to night and the flexibility Thibs will have on both ends of the court in dealing with how to win games. Need shooting off bench? Bogan plays more than Josh Hart. Need a big wing defender off bench? Precious instead of Bogs. Like that. IMHO It'll be more about finding the right combo to win instead of getting guys so many minutes a night.

I read somewhere that Bojan is a statistically-elite pick and roll initiator. Found that interesting. He's got layers to his game.

I don't know his game well enough but that's what the Internet and stats are telling us.

I am trying to envision a second unit of Mitch, Bojan, OG, DDV, Deuce. 3 spacers and Mitch/Bojan running PnR, it's gonna be bonkers.

We got rid of the midgets and brought in some size.

Out
IQ (undersized 2)
Grimes (undersized 3)
Ryan (undersized)
Flynn (small)
RJ (undersized 3/4)
EF (undersized 2/3)
Big brother Obi (played small no lateral quickness)

In
Bogs (tall / good size)
Burks (long with lateral quickness)
OG (great size and lateral quickness)
Deuce (long arms w/ lateral quickness)
Lil Obi (long and agile w/ lateral quickness)
Precious (plays tall with lateral quickness)
Donte (shooter with lateral quickness)

We are no longer a short team. We now have more 2 way players with size and shooting abilities.

If we can somehow get healthy again, the sky is the limit.

If Leon is here for the long haul, I can see the Knicks finally winning a chip in my lifetime.

My bad Leon for anything I’ve said in the past. Outstanding job and GM of the year. Not even close.

On top of that, we have enough picks to get a superstar without sacrificing Jules. I don’t know how ANYBODY can complain right now. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷🤔😉

I hear you and understand the concern.

But right now he’s only behind Donte and that might change because Bogs is a better finisher with size to finish in traffic. I rather stay in the moment and see how he impacts today’s team. And him and Burks fills a huge need at the moment.

Also both are vets who understand the nba and doesn’t take it personal if they have to set behind players. It’s the young guys who have that issue (beside deuce ).

The guys you mentioned (including JB and iHart) can now sit out and heal up while getting ready for this playoff push.

I’m not worried about chemistry or timing or rotation. Vets know how to blend in and keep the synergy going. These guys have nothing to prove and just want to win a chip. Bogs is getting a new contract regardless. He’s only 34 yrs young and his game will age well.

Sit back, relax 😎. Puff puff pass 🚬

You are not altogether wrong on this one. But in my opinion, probably more wrong than right. I think the statements about this being a windfall gain for the Knicks will be a little shortsighted and off. But I am happy with the trade.

Mechanically, if all they did on the Bogs/Fournier swap was prolong the 18mm of salary cap space filler, then a move of Fournier for Bogs would be validated. But there was cost. That trade costs should have been 1 first. We got that down to two seconds and the upside of Grimes over Burks. Someday.

Now, I think you could argue the Burks/Grimes swap resulted in us getting the better player, but my gut tells me that Grimes continues to develop and becomes the better overall player. Someday.

Now, I'd guess that McBride loses a few more minutes to Burks when everyone is healthy. I figure Bogs will get a shot at the starting PF spot until Randle and/or or OG comes back. Achiuwa will chew up more center minutes until Hart, Robinson and Sims come back.

All in all, I think they added points per minutes and floor spacing while giving up one more year of Grimes rookie scale contract and the RFA rights that come with a rookie scale contract.

The Bogs contract is a partial guaranty next year (2mm).

So, the real question is whether Bogs will be better or worse than Fournier defensively. The bar is not that high, but I have doubts whether Bogs will do better here than Fournier. But he can't possibly do worse.
