Knicks · Nerlens Noel might be back (page 1)

SBNation had an article saying the Knicks were thinking about bringing back Nerlens Noel to replace Taj Gibson. Honestly, Noel probably would be an upgrade over Taj at this point in their careers as Taj looks done. I would not be opposed to this move and it gives us a fourth shot-blocker.

I will say that Noel is the only NBA player who can get 3 blocks a game on defense AND offense (as the the ball bounces off his brick hands at least 3 times a game)

Better than Taj?

Knicks have to fill two roster spots by Thursday I think. Candidates include Taj, Jacob T. Duane W, and Charlie B. Or...?

I don't think you can sign Taj for the rest of the season with the way he has played. Gotta find a new 10 day-er. I'd prefer it wasn't Noel but can't be Taj and I love Taj. He's just cooked.

Maybe you know, let Taj get into better shape?
Norlens hurt? Out of league because.......?

I read IHart should be back after the break but with that achilles you'd best be prepared. Seems Jericho is ready to play - he is what he is - a 3rd string center, not a bad one. Mitch is the wlldcard but you can't count on him. Randle too. So depth at the 4 and 5 seems a priority.

Can Jacob play the 5?

I don't know if Noel has gotten worse since he was here last, but I remember him filling in admirably the first time around

Big fan of Noel, elite rim protector. All about injuries. Id sign him as the 3rd big man. Save him for the playoffs. Could be an X-factor, if he doesnt get too much PT in the regular season.

Nerlens was a great defender, but he hasn't appeared in a game or been on a roster in a long time. Think he played a game or two late last year for Brooklyn and then signed somewhere this offseason but got cut before the season. No one else has touched him.

Aside from being a great shot blocker he has a lot of range on defense the way that Precious does. I think we need to have someone better than Taj for that spot, but not sure if Nerlens is gonna be able to help much in the timeframe he may get playing time, which is now.
